Author Topic: Which games would you most like to see translated to your preferred language?  (Read 204 times)

Unfortunately, there are thousands of games created that are inaccessible to players all around the world, and it's due to a lack of language support. In some circumstances—and especially true for older games—this language exclusivity has caused games to become obscured or even outright forgotten.

Translation apps, dictionaries, or other language tools are sometimes able to help assist those lacking skill in a certain language or who are even studying that language as they play games, but this isn't always ideal. For instance, these sorts of tools are definitely available, though are still with their own issues, during times when on-screen text advances via player-determined button prompts but are even less effective when text auto-advances. At the same time, they're certainly most inaccessible when games have no on-screen text at all and are instead fully voiced without subtitles. So, obviously, a complete in-game translation is the most optimal way to play a game.

With that said, what are some of the games you'd most like to have the opportunity to play without issue and in your preferred language that you otherwise haven't been able to experience?

A lot of these have fan translations patches out there, but nothing official. Also, most of these are still very playable even without being translated, but it would be nice to know what's going on as I'm playing.

-Psychic Assassin Taromaru (Saturn)
-Samurai Shodown RPG (Saturn)
-Bulk Slash (Saturn)
-Dodonpachi (Saturn)
-What is Shenmue? (Dreamcast)
-Typing of the Dead 2 (PC)

There are probably more I'm not thinking of, but the games above getting an official English translation and release would make my day.

Sakura wars series

I would like to revisit the older generation of consoles (e.g. the PS2, GCN, N64) with the games in my native language (Spanish), but the vast majority of NTSC games weren't in that language. And even to the present day some companies refuse to localise the games in Latin American Spanish or Mexican Spanish, though. That being said, I would like to play these games series in my native language:

• Yakuza / Like a Dragon series
• The older Grand Theft Auto games (e.g. IV, Chinatown Wars, Vice City Stories)
• The entire Burnout series
• Some Need for Speed games (e.g. Most Wanted 2005, Underground, Underground 2, Hot Pursuit 2010)
• Persona 3, 4 and 5
• The vast majority of the Nintendo games catalogue from ~2007 and older.
• The vast majority of the Sony games catalogue from ~2010 and older.

I grew up playing with the N64, and well, the 95% of the games from that console were in English. That helped me to improve my English from an early age. But, I noticed some games (Need for Speed series) had some entries in my language, like Carbon, ProStreet, Undercover and The Run, but the remaining games aren't in LATAM/MX Spanish, they are in Castilian Spanish, though. And some other companies don't localise the games at all (SEGA/Atlus, they started localising the games earlier this year, but slowly).
