Title: PS5 General Discussion Thread
Post by: vivigamer on September 17, 2020, 06:48:15 am
I have had a lot of thoughts on the PS5 recently so thought I would make a generic thread for people to talk about the console.

So I bit the bullet this morning and pre-ordered the PlayStation 5 at my local GAME store with a £10 deposit.

Honestly, I'm not even bothered about the launch line up, not even remotely and don't intend to get any of the games at launch :P What made me suddenly change my mind? The notion of Final Fantasy XVI being a timed exclusive - I know it's going to be on PC to in time but I'm not a PC gamer and there is no way I would miss that at launch. There are other games I'm excited for too Resident Evil 8 & Oddworld to name a few.

The other problem is my PS4 Pro. It has been confirmed that 99% of PS4 games will run on PS5. Which made me come to the realization that once the PS5 is released I will have zero (Well maybe 1% :P) use for my PS4 Pro. I was going to wait until RE8 was released or something but my concern is that if I am intending to sell my PS4 PRO, that may go down in value by next year and I can't see the PS5 dropping price any time soon. So rather than sticking with my paperweight of a PS4 it would make sense to get rid of it now while it holds it's value right?

Now the research comes into play:
- Will the launch console be sustainable?
- 99% of PS4 titles will work? - CONFIRMED:
https://www.pushsquare.com/guides/ps5-backwards-compatibility-can-you-play-ps4-games-on-playstation-5
- Will the DLC for PS4 games be compatible on PS5 (You'd hope so right)
- Will the PS4 games be enhanced (Beyond just SSD loadtimes)
- Will I be able to play PS4 games with online capability on my PS5 - With PS4 owners? So if I play the PS4 version of Resident Evil 6 on PS5, can I play with a friend who owns the game on PS4?
- SSD, Can you use external SSD HD's on PS5? I know with Xbox Series X you have an Storage Expansion Card

I think when he says 99% he's accounting for online games with their servers shut down (usually free to play games) and like, P.T. perhaps.

Not sure why DLC wouldn't be supported. PS4 games will probably get their PS4 Pro enhancements but I wouldn't expect too many developers to put in more work on PS4 games to further improve performance.

I think Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War confirmed being able to play PS4 vs PS5. Fortnite and other free to play games I imagine will support this too but the decision is probably left to the developer if they want cross gen multiplayer.

This seems to answer your last point: https://www.gamesradar.com/ps5-ssd/

I got my PS5 Optical Drive model preordered with the wireless headset. I'll be getting a couple games at launch but I'm not sure which ones yet. Hoping that Outriders and Oddworld are launch games as right now, I'm only seeing AC Valhalla as a possible buy.

I got fortunate to get my PS5 at Target before things went crazy and it got really hard for people to get theirs pre-ordered.

I'm pretty stoked for the PS5 actually, it's got one of the better launch lineups I've seen for a console in recent years other than probably Switch as I'm getting Spider-Man: Miles Morales (Ultimate Edition so I can have the original Spider-Man again that's been remastered), Demon's Souls, and then I'll maybe grab Godfall if it turns out to be good.  We then have some really good games on the horizon...like Horizon 2!  Also God of War 2 and Final Fantasy XVI within the next year or two.  Plus any of the PS4 games that get updates that I'm still playing or would like to go back to if they get a notable improvement.  As long as everything turns out well, this could be one of the better systems I've had, as the Switch after it's first year kind of soured on me.  There's still at least games I enjoy every so often, but I've not played it nearly as much as my PS4 or PC over the past like 2 years.

Well... To tell you all the truth, I'm far from being excited with the PS5's launch. So far, Spider-Man: Miles Morales was the only game that caught my attention...

Well, like I commented in another post, here in Japan, shops are distributing tickets to their clients for a chance to preorder the console. Most of them will reveal the winners by the end of the month, and then people will have the chance to preorder the console.
I got some tickets myself, so now all I can do is wait. Personally, I think it's a lot fairer than what stores did in the US.

That at least cuts down on some of the chaos that happened where people were scrambling to get through websites falling apart in a mad dash to collect a pre-order.  Is that the only way to get one before launch though with the ticket? I could see it being a little annoying dealing with a lotto for if you'll be able to even get one, or is this more of a thing that happens early on, but people can still pre-order online?

PS5 is looking and sounding great. However just like all other Playstation consoles, I'll wait. Most likely I'll get it when the "Pro" or "Slim" models come out. I just have too many games to play, and not enough time or money. By the time I get one, the games will be cheaper as well.

Same here.  The only thing that is remotely tempting about it (right now) is the PS4 BC and 4K option.  But since I don't havea 4K TV and my regular PS4 is working fine for now, there's no reason not to wait.

Well, some shops already closed their lottos while others are yet to open it, but as far as I know, that’s the only way you can preorder a PS5 around here.

I'm not super hyped about the launch lineup of PS5. I decided to go with AC Valhalla and Spiderman Ultimate Edition as I've yet to play the game from a couple years ago. Spiderman is going under the Christmas tree for my son though. He is a huge fan and Spiderman as well as most super hero games were never my thing.

Main reason for me to upgrade to the PS5 at launch is that I skipped the Pro. My launch PS4 still works perfectly so I wasn't in a rush to dish out another $400 for the mid gen upgrade. Glad I waited. That said, there are many games coming down the pipe for PS5 that look incredible. Now it's a matter of finding the time to play the ones I want.

I'm thinking if there's a lull at the start of the year like there always is, I'll replay the Uncharted games. Starting with the first. Play a PS3 game remastered for the PS4 on the PS5.  8)

Haha :)

This is the kind of information I want to hear about though, how PS4 games will handle on the PS5 - Will it jsut be faster loading times with the SSD or will they actually be enhanced? - I'm hoping Digital Foundry will do a comprehensive test with many PS4 games. Good news is the console is releasing here a week later so by then there should be a lot of info to just make sure the PS4 experience is kept secure.

This has ticked me off considerably today:
https://www.gematsu.com/2020/09/yakuza-like-a-dragon-launches-november-10-for-ps4-xbox-one-and-pc-march-2-2021-for-ps5-in-the-west

Quote
Yakuza: Like a Dragon will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store alongside its previously announced Xbox Series release on November 10, and for PlayStation 5 on March 2, 2021 in the west, publisher Sega and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced.

Users who purchase the digital PlayStation 4 version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be able to download the PlayStation 5 version at no additional cost when it launches. The PlayStation 5 version will also be available as a standalone purchase for $59.99.

So much like the Spiderman fiasco, PS4 owners of the Physical Edition Yakuza 7 won't be to play it on PS5 until March 2021... This is VERY off putting and if the trend continues makes the Xbox Series a much better investment for the gamer. But sadly as PS5 has Final Fantasy 16 I'm stuck with it.

I'll probably just wait till March now, not seeing the point in buying an inferior version of the game at full price when Xbox S' owners get a much better deal.

The upgraded version of the game is in March, not that you can't play it on PS5 until then.  You can play Spider-Man PS4 on PS5 also, there's just no upgrade path to the remaster, unlike Yakuza, which has been confirmed that physical owners can upgrade to the PS5 version with the PS4 disc.  There is no save transfer support, so if you do play the PS4 version of Yakuza, and then upgrade, you'll have to start a new game on the updated PS5 version.

What trend are you talking about? What much better deal do Xbox owners have? This post doesn't make any sense. What does Yakuza having next-gen Xbox timed exclusivity have to do with Spider-Man?
Title: Re: PS5 General Discussion Thread

The problem with the Spiderman release on PS5 is that owners of the PS4 version won't be getting the Enhanced Edition - Which at the moment is only included with the Miles Morales spin-off game. I'm sure it will be released separately in time (even if digital) but for now this is a massive blow to people who bought the SP4 Edition & all DLC. Similar issues with people who bought the launch Edition & Season Pass of CONTROL , they;ve now released a PS4 Complete Edition which is the only product providing the PS5 upgrade from my understanding.

I'm glad to hear there is at least some good news with Yakuza, still not sure it's enough to make me buy it at launch on the PS4 though.

to be honest, I' getting very discouraged by the PS5 in general. They're whole new business model about not being transparent is getting very frustrating. Xbox Series has now let media outlets have hands-on impressions with the Xbox and the backwards compatibility is looking as good as one could hope. Sony have said 99% of games should work but I jsut want to see it run on actual hardware like the Xbox Series has. I heard next week that some Japanese Youtubers will be getting a hands on impression so hopefully that will clear a lot of info.

Then there's the news of the pre-orders not being met. I want t sell my PS4 Pro and items to cover most of the cost, so I have to be assured that I will get one before I sell my PS4 Pro. I intend to call GAME where I've pre-ordred it this week to get clarification on it. It's very discouraging though, I don't feel excited for next gen, just anxious. Part of me wasnts to jsut say F*** it and keep my PS4 until late next year but really I think it would be best to sell it now, because IF the PS5 can offer PS4 backwards compatibility which equals the experience on PS4 then I will have no use for my PS4 Pro and want to sel it at it's best value.

I do find it odd that we've still not seen what the UI will look like. We're what.... 5 weeks out from launch and still haven't seen the UI? I'm assuming at this point it's just going to use the PS4's UI, which is fine as it works well.

Finally narrowed down my PS5 launch game purchases down to three.
 - AC Valhalla (standard)
 - Spiderman (Ultimate) - going under the Christmas tree for my son
 - Destiny 2 Beyond Light

Launch for me is Demon's Souls, Spider-Man: Miles Morales with the Spider-Man remaster, and I might get Godfall depending on the reviews as the gameplay looks good.  Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out around the same time, but that's a PC release for me.

Lots of news today. PS4 saves transfer to PS5. PS4 games will take advantage of the PS5 with Ghost of Tsushima being 60fps on PS5.

Only 10 games won't be backwards compatible.

PS4 only games:
DWVR
Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2
Just Deal With It!
Shadow Complex Remastered
Robinson: The Journey
We Sing
Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
Shadwen
Joe's Diner

Yeah, I'm very happy with the confirmation that I can simply unplug my 4TB external from my PS4 and plug it into the PS5 with no formatting needed.

I am curious on what makes those specific games not function properly on the PS5. I have Robinson the Journey out of those. Glad that only a single game of mine will not be compatible. Though, it was one of my first PSVR games and the one I found out that walking in a VR game makes me nauseous after about 15 minutes. Due to that, it was never completed.

I was sorta just banking on PS4 saves transferring over, but I'm glad it was confirmed.  It means I won't lose my Monster Hunter World save, so that's 400 hours I'm keeping.  Really hope Monster Hunter World gets an update for PS5 to really improve it, but hopefully by default it just runs smoother and it should load faster, even faster than the SSD that I bought specifically to make MHW load quicker because of how bad the load times are lol

Glad to see pretty much every game is playable.  I was thinking of selling my copy of Godzilla on PS4, because it's so wildly expensive right now, but being that I can play it on the PS5 and keep all my kaiju unlocks, I may keep it.  Not 100% sure.  Maybe it'll even run a little better.

Ugh PS5... I have xbox rn and i enjoy it a lot. But still thinking about changing the company and getting ps5... Actually, I've been playing CoD MW lately. It's a great game to relax from all these modern colorful games and just play smth classic. When I wanna skip something boring, I get cod mw boosting service. Experienced players help me make triumphs, pass raids, etc. They are here https://lfcarry.com/cod-mw. Everybody, I advise you not to waste your time on routine gameplay. I hope it will help someone as much as it helped me :)

The novelty of it was good and for it's price it's hard to be mad at it. The Big Bumpin' game was the most well received at release.

Apparently the Burger King promotion is spend $5 at Burger King and then via the app you get a digital scratch off thing to win a PS5, game codes or BK coupons.

Well, I decided to drop Spiderman off my launch list pickups. I'll eventually get it, but I don't think my 4 year old son is ready to tackle that kind of experience yet. Plenty of other games to start him on to get his skills up. I'd consider it for myself, but other than Ninja Turtles, "super" heroes have never really been my thing.

I did end up preordering the Destiny 2 expansion; Beyond Light. Going to play that with my brother pretty regularly and I liked the preorder Ghost shell you get. That leaves AC Valhalla as my only PS5 launch game. I'll be getting Oddworld if/when it launches in December.

i gotten email from Sony, when i gave up all hope of getting PS5 after i missed the pre-orders.

When my wife managed to pre-order the console, with the invite for me while i was at work cause it happened at 12pm-1pm.  I couldn't believe it, but it gave me me very strong feeling of knowing i found the right woman in my life, and made best decision when i decided to ask her to marry me.

In the end i am hoping to play, Cyberpunk 2077, Demon's Soul, Assassin's Creed.

I saw couple previews and differences in Demon's Soul new version and i am excited, it my favorite Soul game, also the one that started it all. But ya, game of the year Cyberpunk 2077.

Looks like Destruction Allstars was (rightfully) delayed until February next year and will become a PS Plus game for us. As we are what.... 3 weeks out from launch and there had still been basically nothing shown on the game, I was wondering who in their right mind were willing to fork over $70 for it. For the free price of admission, I'll give it a go. It's bound to be half decent as it looks to be similar to Twisted Metal but then Fortnite was drizzled on top.

BugSnax just got confirmed as the free PS Plus game for November on PS5. PS4 games also playable on the PS5 will be MIddle-earth: Shadow of War and Hollow Knight Voidheart Edition.

As I'm not sure who would pay $70 for BugSnax, this is a good move by Sony to give a majority of the PS5 early adopters another "free" game.

It's very smart as it guarantees an audience for those games that probably wouldn't have been there otherwise, which would be more important for Destruction Allstars as a multiplayer experience.  Not sure if it matters for Bugsnax, but I have no clue what that game is really about lol I'll certainly take it for free though.

For anyone that has a VR headset for the PS4, you can get a free PS5 adapter since apparently there is a new camera for the PS5, so the old one won't just work outright.
https://www.destructoid.com/stories/here-s-the-site-to-request-a-ps5-adaptor-for-playstation-vr-608201.phtml

Seeing the impressions of the PS5...physically that is...I'm pretty interested in the Dual Sense controller.  It kinda sounds like they took the best parts of the other systems controls to make a pretty standout controller.  Astro's Playroom looks like a lot of fun too as just a goofy little platformer, but gives off big Mario and Banjo vibes to me, so as a free pack-in game, I'll probably check that out first since it apparently is their "gimmick" game meant to show off what the systems features can do with super fast loading and the controllers new features.  That console size though...I don't know if it's the heaviest, but it's unquestionably one of the biggest consoles ever made.  It makes the old Xbox and original PS3 look slim in comparison lol I still generally like the design, it's not the best, but I still prefer it over the Xbox Series X, it's just so enormous lol

There's been a slew of new PS5 news over the course of the last week; as to be expected.

The biggest shocks are that PSVR will not work on PS5 games such as Hitman 3. If you want to play the VR Hitman 3 missions, you'll need to buy the PS4 version to play on your PS5. Truly an odd reveal of the new hardware considering the hoopla made from Sony that the PSVR works on PS5. This makes it a bit muddy on if the PSVR will ever work on a PS5 version of a game, or if it's simply compatible for use with the PS4 versions of games.

https://www.psu.com/news/ps5-games-wont-support-psvr-will-need-to-play-the-ps4-version-to-use-the-headset/ (https://www.psu.com/news/ps5-games-wont-support-psvr-will-need-to-play-the-ps4-version-to-use-the-headset/)

Secondly, a list of about a hundred or so more PS4 games released that were not "compatible" with the PS5. Many of these were Ubisoft games including some of the Assassin's Creed games like Syndicate and even Sony's own LittleBigPlanet 3. It's unclear (once again) as to if they simply won't boot at all or if they have significant glitches during gameplay or are simply missing features. Ubisoft saw pretty quick backlash and is prepping a new statement for clarification on their titles.

https://www.psu.com/news/ubisoft-says-9-of-its-games-are-not-backwards-compatible-on-ps5/ (https://www.psu.com/news/ubisoft-says-9-of-its-games-are-not-backwards-compatible-on-ps5/)

The last big news is actually good news which negates the previous issue if you have your PS4 still hooked up. Sony confirmed that you can remote play PS4 games from your PS4 system over to your PS5. It's a feature that can be used to save space on your PS5's SSD, but it can also negate any backwards compatibility issues with that hundred or so games mentioned above. There's a video in the link below showcasing more about backwards compatibility.

https://www.psu.com/news/sony-confirms-you-can-remote-play-games-from-ps4-to-ps5/ (https://www.psu.com/news/sony-confirms-you-can-remote-play-games-from-ps4-to-ps5/)

And to note about the PSVR, if you want to use it on the PS5, you need an adapter, which is free to PSVR owners as they have a new camera for the system.

As a note to this, the link above does not ship to the United States, Canada, or Mexico as it is the European site. This (https://global.support.playstation.com/s/pscamera-adaptor?language=en_US) is the appropriate website and form field to use for those among these regions.

Also, I'm not sure about the European website as this information is not stated, but the American website only offers the promotion for those with model CUH-ZEY1 or CUH-ZEY2.

Oh, thanks for that, I didn't realize it was Europe only, I just picked a link that came up in an article I was looking at for it, so thanks for that.

I'm still not convinced that I want to keep my PS5 preorder.  XSX I'm confident that I'll make use with GPU and BC.  PS5 however, I'm just not sold that it would be a good investment for me.

The controller is looking and sounding really nice, it comes across like the "Best of" elements of controllers like the Xbox and Switch, and the trigger features sound cool.  I'm definitely glad they changed from the old Dualshock design they've had since the PS1 era as to me, the most comfortable controllers have been the Xbox 360 or Switch Pro controller and this is more reminiscent of them.

Target is finally getting ready to ship my console out, though it's gonna take till next week for me to get it which really sucks.  I ordered Spider-Man and Demon's Souls from Amazon, so I'm getting them on Thursday lol Getting pretty excited for the new stuff and to dive into previous stuff, like getting to play Monster Hunter World at 60fps with even faster load times as I already had an SSD in my PS4 Pro, though the PS5 is still a good 10+ seconds faster, which does add up when you getting in and out of hunts.

Yeah. I paid off my PS5, headset and AC Valhalla back on Sunday. My local store wouldn't let me take the headset home regardless that they had it and other accessories can be bought and taken home. It was odd. I guess they only got enough to fulfill preorders and so they want them to only leave with the systems... I guess? Odd.

Anyway, there are plenty of games that I'm getting kind of a bonus for. Games like Dead by Daylight are getting free next gen upgrades and that coat of shiny new paint is going to make them feel new. That's fantastic as it will make me feel like I'm getting far more at launch than I actually am. Looking forward to Thursday.

My PS5 is finally getting shipped, saying it'll be here Wednesday, but my buddy who also got one from Target and shipping from the same state, says his will be Saturday, so it might show up faster than expected, I've noticed that once in awhile that Target can show up faster than usual, so hopefully it is only a few more days. *EDIT* And FedEx is saying Saturday now, which is awesome, only gotta wait another two more days.

While I do have my new games to look forward to, I am definitely planning to take advantage of games that'll play better from PS4.  Monster Hunter World is the big one, having it be faster at loading and 60 fps is gonna be amazing.  Don't know if Tony Hawk is gonna have any improvements on PS5, but it already ran well, and it just got a new update that adds some more bonus stuff.  I have Avengers which I'm hoping runs abit better in general, though it's not getting its PS5 upgrade till next year unfortunately.  I don't own a lot else anymore other than owning FF7 Remake digitally and whatever is on PS+ that I have, but there is Bloodborne, which has been suspiciously silent on whether it's getting an upgrade to PS5.  Some folks are thinking because there's been no talk on what is an important exclusive, that it could be getting something on the level of a Spider-Man remaster, or that Bloodborne 2 is happening, because recently one guy showed that with a little work, Bloodborne can brought up to 60 fps, so a full blown studio should have no issues getting an update ready otherwise.

My XSX from Target won't get here until next friday according to Fedex.  It shipped from about 5 hours away.  Got to about 3 hours away within a few hours.  It's been sitting 3 hours away for 3 days now.  Still says they need until the 20th to deliver it.

My PS5 however, from Amazon, says it'll be delivered in the next hour or so.  I have 0 games preordered/ordered for either system.  Strictly gonna play BC or free upgrade games for now... even though I'm super interested in Miles Morales and Demon's Souls.

No stores from my country have the system yet.
But I am completely sure someone will put some for sell at the price of 800$ or something like that.

A store for some reason has the controller for like 130$.

Yeah, everything correct, everything fine.

Got to finally dig in a bit to AC Valhalla on my PS5. I had been noticing with it and Destiny 2 that while using the 3D Pulse headset, that the character dialog sounded muffled. If you're having that problem, I found that the fix is simply to turn off 3D audio in the system settings. This stops the PS5 from trying to recreate the audio in 3D and simply has it as it was intended. Obviously, once I play a game that supports it, I'll turn it back on.

Oh! And Astro's Playroom has become my first PS5 platinum trophy. Great game.

Am I the only one here who still can't stand the PS5's UI?

On the PS4 it was so simple, only the PS Button and you get an option to turn off your console (Same with PS3 for that matter), but on the PS5 I find it to be very problematic to just turn the console off. I find the whole Card/tab layout of details for the game just gets in the way of what I want to do. 99/100 times I want to go to my main PS Menu but i press the PS button and the cards system pops up telling me details on the game I am trying to get away from!

Also, when it comes to messaging a friend, I feel I have to go through multiple menus just to reach the place to do so. Also, changing the headphone settings from All Audio to Chat audio needs a shortcut, every time I want to play with a friend I have to go into the Settings and 3 menus before I can change it.

I know it's early days and I'm sure in time it will improve but for now I can easily say i still prefer the PS4's UI.

It's okay, but it's lacking features that the PS4 had, which is annoying.  It's the Switch all over again.   I at least expect this to be improved relatively soon, compared to Nintendo basically doing very little to improve things after nearly 4 years.  It at least runs smooth and is very snappy compared to the PS4 which could be pretty sluggish.

I was the very happy new owner of a PS5 on Christmas Day.

Played Astro’s Playroom...fantastic.

Got 5 hours into Valhalla and the controller broke! It’s the R2 trigger, there is no resistance in it and you can literally blow on it for it to register an input! Makes most games unplayable.

I’ve done a bit of googling, and it seems alarmingly  common. Apparently the spring has either come loose while the haptics were going nuts in Astros or it may have snapped altogether. Very frustrating but apparently Sony will fix it. Unfortunately this can take weeks!  :'(

I have a DS4 controller that I kept for PC, so all is not lost as I believe this will allow me to play PS4 games during January. I just need to buy some new PS4 games now!

Sorry to hear about your controller issues - I was very unsure about the triggers for the Dualsense until I played the Astrobot Playroom. Still while it is built for that I found it was really irritating on Fortnite. I hope it won't be a case that some games it works wonders and others its a pain in the behind.

As for PS4 games, most seem to work on the system - I haven't had any issues with any yet anyways and it's a good time to find many for a cheap price so not a bad idea. Since I've had the PS5 All I've really played is online games and Days Gone from the PS+ Collection Bundle - If you haven't looked into them already I highly recommend it as it has some of the best PS4 titles ready to download.

Thanks for the advice...the PS+ Collection looks pretty good.

I actually caved in and ordered Cyberpunk 2077. I was originally intending to wait for the PS5 version, but curiosity has the better of me and it should last me a decent time while my Dualsense is getting repaired.

Nice trophy collection btw...I'll be doing a bit of casual trophy hunting......just need to think of a decent psn name with Cosmos in it  :-\

So having waited for 1hr 38 mins in a queue, I finally got through to Sony customer support.

They were very helpful. They originally questioned me pretty hard but eventually the guy admitted that they had a lot of calls about this particular R2 trigger resistance problem.

I noticed a couple of articles on the issue have now appeared in my gaming news feeds.

They sent me prepaid postage labels and I've sent the controller off. He quoted me 15 days to either get a replacement or for it to be fixed.

Not too bad.

Neat glad to hear you got it sorted, hoping I won't have to encounter this problem but seems like they're aware and addressing it :)

As I said, I've mostly been using my PS5 as a spruced up PS4, played Days Gone now onto Yakuza 5.

I'm holding out on Cyberpunk, I've heard it runs fine on PS5 but I have so much in my backlog I can easily wait until they sort it out and release a PS5 version. I'm the same with the PS5s version of Yakuza 7, suits be as I still have 5 & 6 to play before March.

Beyond that there really isn't anything incoming that I'm too bothered by, I am interested in Balan Wonderworld but only as a Co-op experience so might hold off on that one too.

I think I'm going to turn the haptics off when I get the Dualsense back. Whilst it was neat in Astros Playroom, the controller was shaking like mad at times, and I feel that must have contributed to the failure of the spring. I generally turn rumble off anyway when I play games.

You're doing the right thing waiting for the PS5 version of Cyberpunk...I am weak when it comes to FOMO  ;D

Sorry to hear about your controller issues, but glad that Sony is taking responsibility and fixing it for you. I'm betting if they have enough issues that they'll have to rethink build quality for the trigger resistance feature.

I ended up waiting on getting a second controller. Normally I buy a second right off the bat, but Sony has taught me over time to be patient.
PS1 controller eventually evolved to have dualshock capabilities.
PS3 controller eventually added back dualshock capabilities.
PS4 controller eventually added a see through area for the light bar feature on the touch pad.

Their controllers are always evolving. I expect the PS5's controller will be modified somehow in the next year or two.

Sony sent me a controller back on Thursday, so it was exactly 17 days in total.

It's a different controller but it wasn't boxed, so I suspect it is a refurbished controller.

It does look brand new to be fair. I am thinking I will get a second controller in the future anyway.

I've been finding that with most open world games, AC Valhalla requires me to take a break from it. I feel that these games have gotten too big for their own good. It's great that there's all this content, and the game is actually really good, but spending 40-50 hours in a single game can wear thin on me. This is due to having very little time to play these days, maybe getting 40-60 minutes in for 3-4 nights a week if I'm lucky.

Happy to say that with PS5 playing almost all PS4 games, I'm still able to switch around to something different. I picked up NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered (PS4) and have been enjoying it just as much as I did back on PS3 eleven years ago. Though, the soundtrack still sucks, PS5 does allow the option of playing MP3's from a USB stick, so turning off music in the game itself fixes that issue.  ;)

I just finished Odyssey yesterday, and I agree.  It felt like two separate games that could have each been shortened by about 1/3 and linked together more effectively.  It was good, but by the end i was just pushing to finish it.

100% in the same boat. I love Valhalla so far but I've taken a break from it to clear some games from my backlog. Fully intend on coming back to it here in couple weeks though.

I love open world games, but Odyssey kinda hit me wrong, it's so big, but it doesn't feel engaging enough to warrant the time spent roaming it all.  I hit a point in the story and I saw how long it took me to complete that area, and then I looked at everything else that was left and I was just like "Nah, I think I'm good." Hearing that Valhalla is the same and also more, it's kinda turned me off from checking it out, at least till I can get it stupid cheap a year or two from now.  It was the same problem I had with Red Dead Redemption 2.  It's a nice looking world to explore, but there's not enough interesting side content and depth to it and the story is like 35% to long, so I was basically forcing myself to beat the story, which just wouldn't end.

Have played a ton of PlayStation 5 at my friend's house. We are having a blast playing Demon's Souls.
However, we ran into the problem that the four face buttons (Trangle, Square, Circle and X) got stuck when we pressed them.
Did anybody else run into this problem?

This is the first I've heard of that problem. My controller has felt pretty solid and the buttons have had no issues as of yet. I'm pretty stickler about anyone playing games after they've just eaten though. Absolutely no eating while playing and if you've eaten anytime lately, you have to wash hands before gaming. This is mostly for the kids, but I follow the rules as well.

As with all system launches.... the worth comes with time. I see buying a new system as an access ticket to the next 7+ years of games. So yeah, buying the PS5 will be worth it. As of now, similar to how PS4 launch was, most everything is also available on the previous gen. Feel free to wait if you wish.

That's exactly how I see it as - The PS4 Pro+

The fasting loader times are appreciated and enhanced games like Days Gone have been a treat, yet there hasn't been a PS5 exclusives I've felt compelled to get yet. My first was going to be Resident Evil VIII but that's now being released on PS4 too, muck like Yakuza 7. This doesn't bother me though as I still have plenty PS4 games to play and the recent PS+ Lineup has been on fire recently with Control Ultimate Edition released this month.
