I have three backup CRTs, although only one of them technically is a decent enough size to where I'd actually want to game on it. But yes, get CRT TVs when you can and stock up. If I had more space I'd do the same. I see people giving them away on a fairly regular basis and it kills me not being able to snag some of the larger, higher quality ones.

There probably wouldn't be a viable enough market to produce them, but it would be great if someone actually produced new CRT TVs.

if that were the case you would probably end up paying more than the more sought after high end crt's go for easily.

Also actually in the medical department they still make brand new crt's of high quality since normal tv screens can't give certain images, they are however far more expensive than the more high end tv's normal folks use. Not sure if they still do this or have found another solution for certain images. but considering that people find the couple hundred $ excellent crt's not even the high end to be pricy I highly doubt anyone will be excited for brand new crt's with their way higher price tags than even the high end sought after ones.

- Pick up one of the dozen CRTs at the thrift store down the street?
- Settle for upscaling with composite, and s-video and RGB where possible?
- Mod everything for RGB and find a Framemeister?
- Sell everything that can't output HDMI and replace them with clones? Retrons/Analogues/wait for the Polymega?

You definitely have all of the options well researched.  I too have a CRT in my office and three four backups in my garage.  Even so, a couple of those are lower quality (no S-Video) so I should be actively watching my local thrift stores for better replacements.

I am a bit curious about the RGB mods and Framemeister.  If I were an active live streamer, it would almost be a requirement.  But to do it is such an investment.  Plus I'm the type who would rather keep a console 'stock', so I would have to have duplicate purchases for every mod.

Indeed there are many threads here related to CRTs.  The sad reality is that here in east Tennessee a few years ago all the thrift stores were full of these thing for like five bucks.  Almost overnight all of these stores no longer accepted them since they were so inundated with them.  I remember seeing dozens of them in a commercial dumpster behind a goodwill, sadly it had been raining ruining the lot.  I found and still use a 32" Phillips that I got for free on the Letgo app.  Thats prob the best source nowadays.
