Well, like I said, I first heard about her a couple of days ago thanks to eaglelord9814's post, so I don't know about her true personality, and I didn't perform a criminal background check on her to know whether she is good or evil, but what I've seen so far about her fight against racism, sexism and sexual objetification, misogyny, homophobia and discrimination in general really gave me a positive first impression about her.
As an ethics professor, I would need to know more about her and her movement before recommending anything she does to my students though.
Warmsignal:
I've never been able to grasp what the deal is with all the hate for Sarkeesian. She's a media critic essentially, and with a particular political slant, sure. While I think most critics are full of crap, and I'll form my own opinions on art/media - nothing she's ever said has offended my sensibilities in particular. She's always made fairly obvious observations about video game narratives/cliches, which is somehow quite triggering to a lot of people.

It's not like she's some kind of authority on video game content, or a regulatory council. People can still develop games however they choose to, and she can continue to critique them. Everyone is still free to play, or not play whatever and for any reason. I don't see what the fuss is about? Don't like it? You don't have to. Let someone else enjoy it. Not every game is necessarily targeted at all audiences, that's always been the case, and this is more or less what she's often pointed out.

I think Warmsignal was on point with his statements.
So far, I'm really enjoying reading her texts and listening to some of her podcasts.

I haven't seen any of the leaks from The Last of Us II, so I can't really say anything with regards to that, but if the game's story is being influenced by feminist ideals as eaglelord9814 seems to be pointing out (I'm not sure if I could really understand what he wanted to say...), I think there's a great possibility I'll enjoy this second installment much more than the first one.
Finally, about Dead or Alive... well, I've always seen this series as being very depreciative (to say the least) towards their female characters, so if pressure from social justice warriors and feminists is making publishers and developers rethink the way they depict women in video games, I find their effort to be admirable.
Cartagia:
Sarkeesian’s base argument is completely sound.  Games could definitely stand to better represent women, in general.  However, a lot of her specific arguments are made I bad faith, mainly because she is not a game scholar.  She wanted to talk gender disparity and chose video games as her platform.  Because of that she has a ton of problems regarding confirmation bias or simply not understanding game mechanics - I don’t recall specifics, but there was one game that she talked about how you could get a higher score through violence, but it wasn’t a game that had “scores” at all.  I just wish that she wasn’t a major figurehead of the movement.
