| Insignia announced... potential rebirth of OG Xbox online multiplayer |

Insignia was announced a couple of days ago by Luke Usher, of cxbx fame. This is pretty much a custom XBL server. There are ways to play Xbox games online, but these methods utilize system-link, not Xbox Live servers. Expected to come out this Fall. Best part is, ya don't even have to mod your console! This seems pretty exciting as someone who was too young to play during the heyday of original Xbox Live. From my online DOOM deathmatch experience with the PC. I can tell you facing actual players was at most times way more difficult than taking on the CPU fighters. first off most players that I played were hardened and more experenced players. I even was never much of a help in team games either. Compared to a lot of the others who would just plow through the enemies in Coop against the CPU |

The fact that you wont need to mod the console is maybe the more interesting fact about the subject, I guess Microsoft just let that in the vault for someone else take it. |
