VTech V.Smile orange console owners feedback
« on: June 08, 2020, 10:44:06 am »
Currently there is only 1 listing for the original orange/purple V.Smile console:
https://vgcollect.com/item/43709

This is a generic listing and will need to be changed to a specific model, likely the Alphabet Park Adventure 057.
We need to figure out how these should be named. At first glance, it would appear that our regular console naming method, or the one used for Sony consoles, isn't going to work.

I have done some research and there are at least 5 versions of the console itself, but numerous boxes. To make matters worse, it appears that EU and US consoles may have come in the same box. Here is what I'm come up with:

VTech V.Smile - Alphabet Park Adventure
https://ebay.com/itm/382896972810
https://ebay.com/itm/202818406891
https://ebay.com/itm/283829155953
Orange case/purple lid/English text
console model: 53-36400-057-080 NTSC
https://ebay.com/itm/202890476904

VTech V.Smile - Alphabet Park Adventure (2005 T.O.T.Y.)
https://ebay.com/itm/174253296522
https://ebay.com/itm/223835114738

VTech V.Smile - Alphabet Park Adventure (2005 T.O.T.Y.)
box model: 80-61220
UPC: 050803612207
https://ebay.com/itm/184221727211

VTech V.Smile - Alphabet Park Adventure (2005 T.O.T.Y.)
console model: 53-36400-062-080 PAL
https://ebay.com/itm/293538459726

VTech V.Smile - Scooby-Doo! Funland Frenzy / Alphabet Park Adventure Limited Edition (2005 T.O.T.Y.)
https://ebay.com/itm/283890839275

Vtech V.Smile - Soccer Challenge
https://ebay.com/itm/224023247668

The two Alphabet Park 2005 TOTY packs above that are not the PAL listing are likely the same thing, but I cannot confirm it.
In addition to the packs above, that do not have the consoles attached, I can confirm these:

Orange case/purple lid/English Text
console model: 53-36400-078-080 NTSC
https://ebay.com/itm/124157158217
https://ebay.com/itm/123381779232

Orange case/purple lid/English Text
console model: 53-36400-105-080 NTSC
https://ebay.com/itm/274347744656

Orange case/purple lid/French Text

These should all be able to be tied to the boxes. I did not save the itm number for the French console.

I did find one instance of a loose purple case/orange lid
https://ebay.com/itm/223847256765

The orange with the silver cart slot insert is sold in boxes and in a tub with the mark "New and Improved"
There is also a release with a gray cart slot insert

If there are any resources or sites that track the information on these consoles, post them into there so we can see if we can get these releases figured out.

Games according to Wikipedia:
V.Smile: 69 with some having upgraded versions for additional V-Motion functionality
V.Smile Baby: 12
V.Flash/V.Smile Pro: 10

Progress:
V.Smile games DONE
V.Smile Baby games DONE
V.Smile Accessories DONE
V.Flash/V.Smile Pro  DONE
Consoles DONE (Though I gave up on listing all d-pad variants on handheld systems)
Noticed that we were also missing V.Tech MobiGo variants so added them too

Notes:
-Most of these games probably have [UK] versions but since console is region free and only difference I have spotted is small area code at the bottom left corner of cartridge I won't be trying to hunt them down for all releases and I make entries only the ones I come across by chance.
-If there is Alphabet Park Adventure re-releases (AKA we lost the license so we remove the licensed characters) outside US I couldn't find them. US Re-release: https://vgcollect.com/item/179987
-Cars: Rev It Up In Radiator Springs should have limited edition release according to Wikipedia but as I couldn't find any pictures I didn't add it. Same with V Motion versions in these countries: [PT][ES][IT][DK][SE][NO][FI].
-With cars 2 US had different releases for handheld and console whereas [FR] and [DE] had combined these. It would be interesting to test US handheld cart on console or vise versa.
-Found 2007 re-release not listed in Wikipedia. As above I'm not adding V.Motion version or Re-release for countries I can't find picture.
-Dora the Explorer: Dora's Fix-it Adventure Couldn't find [PT] V.Motion version
-Handy Manny [PT] and [ES] standard missing
-Little Einsteins [FR] V.Motion missing
-Mickey Mouse Clubhouse [PT] V.Motion missing
-Monsters vs. Aliens [US] Standard missing
-My Pet Puppy Scandinavian V.Motion missing (I'm starting to suspect that V.Motion wasn't released in Scandinavia or Portugal)
-Princess and the Frog, The: Tiana's Big Dream [ES]  subtitle illegible from pictures I found. All EU standards missing
-Scooby-Doo!: Funland Frenzy V.Motion version missing from all but [US] and [FR]
-Soccer Challenge [UK], [PT], [NL], [DE] no V. Motion version.
-Spider-Man & Friends: Secret Missions [PT] V. Motion version not found, found [UK] version, Three different US standard versions
-SpongeBob SquarePants: A Day in the Life of a Sponge [US][ES] V.Motion missing
-Super Why: The Beach Day Mystery Split release with different console and handheld packaging
-Thomas & Friends: Engines Working Together [FR] V.Motion missing
-Tinker Bell [PT] This time standard missing so [PT] V.Motion exist
-Toy Story 2: Operation Rescue Woody Limited edition cart missing
-Wonder Pets!: Save The Animals! Wikipedia list this as V.Motion exclusive but I found standard edition
-Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!: Attack of the 50 Foot Fleegle V.Motion not found
-Baby Einstein: World of Discoveries [DE] probably exist as there were links for it in .de websites but unfortunately all the links were already dead or had stock images from other territories.
-Discovery With Baby Mickey & Friends [ES][DE] probably exist as there is Amazon listings for them but unfortunately they use stock images.
-Learn & Discover Home, There seems to be three different cart variants. Might some have been pack in titles or [UK] edition?
-Handheld systems seem to have a lot d-pad color variants. Too many for me to hunt down so someone else can do it if they care.

Cart color index:
Purple: Standard
Translucent purple: Limited Edition
Orange: V-Motion
Red: Smartbook
Yellow: Jammin' Gym Class/PC Pal/Smart Keyboard
Grey: Sun damaged purple carts???
Blue: Probably pack in game for limited color scheme Scooby-Doo console???
Pink: Spider-Man: Secret missions (Strange color choice for limited edition spider-man or strange pack in game for girls console???)

When I get to V.Flash games do I add them to V.Smile category or is new category needed?

We'll put everything into the one category for now.
Regarding edits in that category:
1. When editing entry, remove the "V.Smile - " prefix on titles.
2. When putting in front art, where front art is currently cart. Save the existing front (cart) pic and submit to cart image slot.

I found one more V.Tech product (comes in two colors): V.Reader: https://www.vtechkids.com/brands/brand_view/vreader
It's e-reader for kids that seem to have some edutainment mini games on e-book cartridges. Bit of a borderline case if it should be added to database.
It's called "Storio" in Spain
There doesn't seem to be good database of V.Reader "games" so I listi all I come across here, in case we add the system:

V.Reader "Games":  Dora and the Three Little Pigs
                                Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
                                Scooby-Doo! Scooby-Doo and a Mummy, Too!
                                SpongeBob SquarePants: Model Sponge
                                Tangled
                                Whats That Noise?
                                Toy Story 3
                                Cars 2
                                Disney Fairies
                                Disney Princess
Super Why Attack of the Eraser
                                Tinkerbell
                                Madagascar: Penguins: The Helmet
                                Cars Toon: Tokyo Matter
                                Hello Kitty's Suprise
                                Shrek's Vacation
                                Olivia Takes Ballet
                                Madagascar 3
                                Mr Messy and Missing Sock
                                THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD
                                Chuggington: Babysitter Brewster
                                Kung Fu Panda 2
                                Sesame Street: Happy Scientist
                                Winnie The Pooh
                                Dinosaur train

And make it two. V.Baby: https://www.vtechkids.com/assets/data/products/%7BF0202E29-A1E9-44FF-BDEF-C422B6F2EECC%7D/manuals/80-107100-V.Baby%20Infant%20Development%20System.pdf
This seems to be follow up console for V.Tech Baby. Games seem to be orange cartridges similar to V.Motion cartridges. Luckily the packaging is at least unique: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/362891682452658440/

V.Baby games: The Very Hungry Caterpillar
                        Backyardigans: Big Backyard Adventure
                        Mother Goose
                        Noah's Ark Animal Adventures

And then Three. Inno Tab (and all of it's derivates) https://www.vtechkids.com/brands/brand_page/innotab_family
Seems to be follow up to V.Reader
Games: https://www.vtechkids.com/product/advanced_search/keyword:innotabsoftware
