Saved Morrowind at the bottom of an unescapable pit deep in a cave. And thats a game that you put not hours into, but months.
Auto save would screw me over reguarly in Skyrim if I did something wrong on accident like anger a shopkeeper or something. I had to turn it off and save manually.
