Author Topic: Ever Had A Favorite Video Game Taken Away Or No Longer Compatible?  (Read 704 times)

Have you ever had a game that that was finished the developers abandoned or no longer support? or perhaps an online only video game that closed it's server on you. And you no longer have access to play it?

be it any kind of video game. Including a mobile or a PC game hat is no longer downloadable. Or that is no longer compatible with a more modern OS.

For me it's the Sims 2 for PC since, a windows update caused a graphics glitch inside create a character mode. Technically it still might be playable, but if you google The Sims 2 it says that The Sims 2 was never suppose to be compatible on windows 10 to begin with. and EA abandoned support for this game and many others years ago,

Shadow of Memories / Destiny

I know I never shut up about this game but it's wonderful! I do own a PS2 & Xbox copy, but sadly I have no method to play either on a HDTV. There is the PSP version which is competent but I'm not really into portable games if I am honest and I see it as a very cinematic game so while it is nice to have it at all it's not the best way to play it.

I DO have an old Windows 7 PC to play the PC version because the game is incompatible Windows 8.1 onwards - So every time I want to play it I have to hook up the old beast which all to play one game is a bit excessive. I mean I haven't used that PC for a good 2 years now beyond playing that one game.

I did do a Let's Play of it & have recently dug out the old PC to make videos exploring the sidequests:

The only weird one I have is The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II. Digital download for Xbox One. I downloaded it, played it, then deleted it to make room on my then tiny 500 GB hard drive.

I got a 4K external hard drive for the XBox One not too long ago and went to redownload everything onto it. This was the only game that gave me issues. It said the charge had been reversed on my purchase when I looked through my purchase history. That never happened. I never got any money back or credit for it. It's just not in my library anymore and I apparently have to pay for it again if I want it.

I didn't bother contacting Xbox support or anything over it. I have enough games that it just wasn't worth the bother.
