[...] I wouldn't mind seeing a little more Namco love but I can't think of any characters they could add.

How about some more of their classic characters like Valkyrie, Wagan, or even Mappy? There's also Wonder Momo, or Hiromi from Burning Force. Heck, KOS-MOS has already appeared in other games outside of Xenosaga. Perhaps someone from the Tales of series, which incidentally if Namco had been the one to come up with the Super Smash concept, Tales of would pretty much equate to Fire Emblem. They could also share a Soulcalibur or Tekken fighter since there's plenty to choose from. I obviously can't leave Namco's second mascot Klonoa out of this list. And there's also Reiko Nagase for the shits and giggles.

My point is they're like Nintendo, so they have a bunch of characters to choose from. If I'm being honest, I'm amazed that the roster isn't flooded with more Namco representation seeing as they're developing the game.

One detail I left out in that original post is that at the time my brain was trying to come up with a female character Namco could put in. When I was writing in the names of Eggman and Tron Bonne, my brain was like "any female Namco characters they could add?" and the noggin locked up on me. It wouldn't have to be a female character but that's where my brain was at the time.  :P

To expand on that, I did think of characters like Dig Dug right away and even Wonder Momo but then I was thinking back to when Terry got introduced and the Smash forums were ablaze with people going "WHO?!" even though his opponents in the game have existed 15-20 years longer than he has...  ::)

Additionally, that's an excellent list of characters and would LOVE for Klonoa to be added (totally forgot about him and I feel ashamed as a result). For some reason I would think KOS-MOS being added would cause friction with Squeenix and the rest of the those mentioned probably wouldn't get past Nintendo because $$$. It ought not be that way but it probably is why characters like Shantae and Shovel Knight aren't already in (the latter having significant amiibo support already).

IF there was any additional Namco love to be had...Klonoa would be my pick but I wouldn't be upset with Dig Dug's inclusion. I figure Stahn Aileron from Tales of Destiny or the protagonist from Symphonia could be considered.  I tried to think up someone from SoulCalibur or Tekken, preferably female, but outside of Mitsurugi and Kazuya, no one really stood out. Since people are all about Sephiroth being in and there being a need for villains, Kazuya would probably fit that bill perfectly.

Lastly, just saw that a Ghosts 'n Goblins remaster is coming next year and I think Arthur would be a great addition to the game.  :)

Master Chief
Ryo Hazuki
Garalt

Probably only one of those might actually make it at some point, but hey, I can dream :p

Master Chief would probably be the only realistic inclusion if any of those.

I'd actually love Tron Bonne to show up.  I know she's not the biggest deal anymore with Mega Man Legends being a long dead series, but she's such a fun character and I think she'd be a pretty cool character to have and she already has a fighting game moveset due to Marvel vs Capcom.

If ownership is what you're inferring, Square-Enix has no control over KOS-MOS given the character is entirely a Namco IP—Xenogears and Xenosaga are unrelated, other than sharing "xeno" in their name. Monolith was originally created with the intention to expand on Xenogears, but as we all know that never came to be and Xenosaga ended up materializing, with Xenoblade taking over the reins after the latter's third episode. They're still both considered spiritual successors to Xenogears, Xenoblade more so in more ways than one.

As far as characters go, I think Dig Dug, Klonoa, or Valkyrie would fit the roster rather well, so I'd be happy with the inclusion of either of the three. Regarding Soulcalibur and Tekken, Yoshimitsu could represent both series and actually seems like he'd fit rather nicely, too; but if you'd rather have a quirky character, then Mokujin from Tekken seems about right.

Villain-wise, Sigma has always been my choice, but admittedly is a very biased one. I think Dr. Wily and Dr. Eggman would make a nice addition, but probably just one or the other seeing as they might end up using some type of machinery to battle, although the game already has characters that play similarly, so that might not matter at all. Lastly, a bad guy from Street Fighter wouldn't hurt, which most probably would end up being M. Bison/Vega. And also, Waluigi.

And yes, Arthur would be a nice addition to the roster; he's as classic a character as any.

I'd love to see either Ryu Hayabusa, DOOM Slayer, Dante, a Resident Evil character. Honestly I'm open to anyone at this point, I never expected Sephiroth and now that he's in seeing someone of his magnitude added would be cool.

Overall I really hope that the last 3 DLC characters are third party and not like Byleth or Min Min.

Calling it now, Waluigi is the last DLC.

I’m all for getting back to the Nintendo characters

Can we put Toad in as a character? Waluigi?
I’m like most of the internet and would love to see Geno or Mallow in there
And my #1, bring in Funky Kong.

I think Chibi Robo would be a cool deep cut from Nintendo. And he has lots of different attachments that could translate into attacks pretty well!

If somehow Rick from Splatterhouse got in it would be pretty awesome. It might actually incline me to play Smash Bros. again.

That would be alot of fun, but unfortunately I don't know how likely the super violent game characters are likely.  Bayonetta is the only M rated game character I think, but hers is more for the general violence and sexiness she displays, with language too I believe.  I had previously wanted to see Sub Zero show up as Mortal Kombat is a big franchise in gaming history, especially fighting games, but I don't see it happening with the current game banned in Japan.  Rick is at least Japanese gaming history, and is (Was?) a Namco property, so that's some from representation there.

When it comes to first-party characters, Waluigi is actually the one many want in the most, so I'm sure things would get crazy if he were to be included in the game.

I’m like most of the internet and would love to see Geno or Mallow in there

Geno and Mallow pretty much fall under what Flashback2012 said earlier regarding Square-Enix, so other than the Mii costume for Geno, I don't see them joining the roster anytime soon. Although, as I've stated elsewhere, I don't mind being proven wrong.

I think if Bayonetta made it in, Rick has a chance to get in as well, all there needs to be done is tone the guy down a notch. The reason Mai wasn't included as part of Terry's stage was because, according to Sakurai, "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is for good boys and girls of many different ages...", or in other words, you know, because she's Mai. In all honesty, the same could've been said about Bayonetta before she joined, especially considering the over-sexualization of her character has been mainly driven by the fanbase, which is the same for Mai...and Samus. And all those Fire Emblem "waifus". And Palutena. And Peach, Daisy, and Rosalina. And you get my point.

sora was a top 5 pick and sakurai even said he wanted sora in smash last year.

Where did Sakurai say he wanted Sora? I can't find anything online where he mentions Sora (outside of his company which shares the same name lol)

Sora isn't in Smash because of Disney...Disney Japan has pretty much been the reason for the character not being in the game.

But as marty said, I too can't find anything online where Sakurai outright states he wants Sora in the game. What I've read is that supposedly Nomura was approached about it and he then offered Cloud. Not sure about the validity of that statement.

EDIT: Might as well rectify this post by adding that, after further reading, Disney seems to be "onboard" for the most part, especially considering the fact many are clamoring for the inclusion of the character. Disney owns Sora after all.

From what I remember Cloud was chosen due to Final Fantasy characters ranking high on the ballot with Cloud supposedly receiving the most support. I’d like to imagine that Sora along with Hero were seen as the most logical inclusions in the hypothetical sense that Square-Enix got a second Smash rep and as we’ve seen Hero was the easier character to include. Although the impact Dragon Quest has had on RPGs and Nintendo reviving timed exclusivity on Dragon Quest XI may have influenced Nintendo/Sakurai’s decision.

Banjo Kazooie were held back for years due to being owned by Microsoft but the two parties were eventually able to come to an agreement. I’d like to imagine Nintendo has discussed the idea of Sora in Smash with Disney but were unable to come to a deal similar to no X-Men or FF characters being allowed to appear in MvC Infinite

Sure, I know about the polls, but you know how these rumors are with this game, although it's not hard to imagine that a conversation between the two could've taken place at some time prior, they did end up being featured in a creator interview a few years back, so there's that. Overall, it goes without saying that all parties involved are well aware people want the character in the game, so it's all a matter of time, I guess, especially considering that both Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest as a franchise have been running longer than Kingdom Hearts, so it made sense for characters from those two series to join the roster first.

I think it's clear Nintendo is doing a nice job keeping any and all information behind closed doors, the recent Sephiroth reveal being a great example of that, so we don't know if the deal for "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate x Kingdom Hearts" has been made already and they're just waiting for the perfect opportunity to make the announcement.

Sakurai killing all Super Mario RPG's fans hopes and dreams by bringing back the Geno Mii Fighter costume instead of giving a playable Geno lol Also they added a Tifa, Barret, Aerith, and Chocobo Hat outfits.

It's great to see they are definitely adding a proper amount of new music for Sephiroth, only having 2 songs from Cloud before, but they are adding 9 songs now with 4 new arrangements.

And a December 22nd release date for him.  His classic mode is a boss rush and they added a limited time boss mode, but its so limited that it is only for people who have the fighter pack 2 right now and only lasts till the 22nd.  Nintendo doing this limited shit is obnoxious, so hopefully its added back in a regular mode.  You do get to unlock Sephiroth and the new stage early if you beat this limited time mode before the 22nd on the hardest difficulty.

*EDIT* Oh, nevermind, Sephiroth is basically considered released yesterday, because if you beat the game on Easy, you just get Sephiroth lol Even on Very Hard, it doesn't look like much of a fight.  I feel like Sakurai woefully underestimated people lol

there where tons of complaints of to hard AI in the beginning month so this was the correct choice.

Lvl 9 cpu's and hard challenges in general have been made easier by quite a bit. They had some insane plays in the beginning before it got patched.

People where mainly complaining about ai because to unlock characters there where ai fights that had a randomizer from easy fights to ultra hard. and on highest diffiulty those fights would even beat pretty nice players. wich where usually very easy in former smash games

Shame though especially the lvl 9 cpu nerf.

Also keep in mind we even received an update to have tutorials in how to beat say the pauline challenge in world of light

It was to hard before hand The community has spoken. Definitely not underestimated.
