I used to watch a guy named AlphaOmegaSin. Long hair metal dude that had a very "basement game cave" vibe with this feel that was hard to put a thumb on. Really felt like you were hanging out in a friends basment cave. He had a great collection. He stopped posting.

I also really miss GTA IV rick roll videos. Hated them at the time. Anyone remember "spawn sultan rs in gta IV" or "100 kill glitch call of duty world at war CANT GET HIT x5xp" just for it to be a rick roll. They sucked at the time but boy do I miss being rick rolled.

I never understood the popularity of WhatCulture. They try to do a jack of all trades but their lack of knowledge is obvious. The worst is their wrestling channel, they make so many mistakes it's shocking, like for example claiming that World Class Championship Wrestling was located in Florida, when it was actually in Dallas, Texas (the legendary von Erich family territory)

As for old: AVGN was fun until around 2013, before Screenwave got in and he got lazy and showed that he just doesn't care much about games. Spoony is another one who was hilarious (his Swat 4 LP is legendary) but seemingly fell on really hard times. Pushing Up Roses was ok before all the drama, she is one of the worst on social media, to the point where i can understand why DHI is making fun of her.

Yogscast is another old on. Shadow of Israphel was probably one of the most creative Minecraft story/lp's way back until they just dropped it. Then there was all that drama, sexual harrassment stuff, i stopped following them.

The only ones i still follow are Civvie11, Accursed Farms, MandaloreGaming and Ahoy, the latter only does a video every few months or so, but the are always high quality.

I'm pretty sure I've watched a few videos from WhatCulture, but can't remember anything specific. But from what you're describing, they sound a lot like Watchmojo. I feel like Watchmojo is a good baby's first gaming youtube channel, but it's kind of the same thing where you're getting questionable countdowns and a lot of wikipedia info regurgitated.

Oh man! Love Sega Lord X. I feel like the two of us are into 90% the same games. He's one I still currently watch on a regular basis.

AlphaOmegaSin was a casualty of the Youtube adpocolyps back in the mid 2010s. His channel got nuked by youtube and he became more or less un-monetizable, so his videos got buried. It's crazy because I found him when he was at about 10k subs and loved watching his videos after work all the time. His channel began to get a little tiresome towards the end when all he wanted to do was make Gamergate outrage vids, but I still enjoyed his work for the most part. But yeah, he just vanished shortly after the ad debacle. He would appear in random Game Chasers episodes after that, and once in a blue moon resurfaces to talk about some game he's really excited about, but I doubt we'll ever have regular AOS again. They guy seemed super cool, definitely the type of guy I could see myself befriending and talking games all the time.

Damn, that sucks. I wish he'd make a comeback. I used to watch him after I got bored of metaljesusrocks when he got too commerical and started relying too heavy on twitch streamer cameos. AVGN can only upload so much and I needed some quality retro fix. I remember people saying AOS died so im glad he's at least alive and gaming. Glad to have read this.

He had a lot of niche games I never heard of and he really did seem approachable. We could really use more gamers that can give that old school gamer friend from the late 90s dungeons and dragons, metal and hot pockets vibe. I miss it. I ddint expect anyone here to know him. Pretty cool
