I regret never playing Ys III, but the Ys main theme already had me on Master System

This is tough, there's a lot of great soundtracks I love.

1. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
2. Final Fantasy VI (SNES)
3. Elemental Master (Genesis)
4. Life Force (NES)
5. BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger (PS3)

Some extras:

Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria (PS2)
Earthbound (SNES)
Batman (NES)
Super Metroid (SNES)
Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)

Thinking about some of my favorite stuff these days, so much of it has turned into pure metal lol

Doom Eternal - It's a hard pick between the first and second game, but I think the second hits more for me.
Brutal Legend - This one feels like a cheat because it's just a collection of great metal songs, but it has good original music too.
Metal: Hellsinger - All original music, great singers chosen to bring a voice to it, love it.
Guilty Gear: XRD - This one is another hard one as GG has always had great music, but this game was a big style shift for the series and I think overall it's damn good, continued on into Strive.
Banjo-Kazooie - And here's the odd one out, but I love the music for the original game so much.  A lot of Rare games have incredible music due to folks like Grant Kirkhope, Robin Beanland, and David Wise, but BK has always been an amazing game for me and I adore the music.

In no particular order:

Gravity Circuit
Freedom Planet
Spark the Electric Jester
No Straight Roads
Persona Q2

I'll throw in some honorable mentions too:

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red/Blue Rescue Team
Snowboard Kids
Mega Man 10
Freedom Planet 2
Dragon Quest VIII

It's okay that you only expect 5, but I feel licensed music to be cheating, but they are part of the sound track.
