I've almost made a thread a couple of times, but it just didn't feel big enough to warrant one.  3D All Stars is a big deal, but almost everything just felt kind of inevitable.

I’m digging the Game & Watch. It’ll be hell to get one, but it will be mine.

Ive pre-orderd it, now we hope and pray.

You’re in Europe, aren’t you?
I don’t think there’s any available for preorder in the US.

Anyone else been seeing the the memes about how Nintendo didn't improve anything in Super Mario 64?

I find it funny how people don't seem to understand the difference between a remaster and a compilation.
From what I've read it's based on the final japanese release so it doesn't have the various glitches for speedrunning.

Anyone else been seeing the the memes about how Nintendo didn't improve anything in Super Mario 64?

I find it funny how people don't seem to understand the difference between a remaster and a compilation.

it isn't about it being the same

if where talking crash and spyro, not only are these a collection of 3 games each like mario, it's price is 40$ each with updated visuals aka an actual reason for original owners to get this compilation

In mario's case

It's price is 60$ for 3 ports

People understand the difference but they expected a lower price because these are 3 old games with barely and differences applied to them, people expected a lower price for just 3 ports. especially if you compare it to spyro and crash collection wich have the same amount of games while all 3 are with updated visuals and for a lower price.

The Grass looks pretty green on the other side.

I will say though them 3d mario games are a few tiers above spyro and crash, but The people do have a point old games overall and 60$ that's a pretty high price Mario galaxy is 20 or 10$ in the wii u eshop, mario 64 was 10$ it's only sunshine really.

The removal of the backwards longjump and the gay (supposdely king) bowser quote are just the icing on the cake with the newer japanese version of the game, Mario sunshine also laggs analgue gamecube controller support wich means fludd might be trash to control compared to the original.

3 times in a row that nintendo dropped gamecube controller support for notable games. seriously. first windwaker, than twilight princess and now sunshine in wich it at least is partially working. anologue triggers will be a massive issue for sunshine and it will make speedrunning way less fun

Sunshine is the most fun game in the series for speedruns. shame really.

The only main advantage is wide screen for sunshine because it's grapics are barely an improvement, logical since these are ports. but they could have at least kept the glitches in plus wide screen mario 64. wich is pretty normal in emulation days for not only mario 64 but also ocarina of time and such.

If you already own the originals, for most not a reason to get these. the grapical differences are small aside from widescreen for sunshine and some really minor texture upgrades.

Portability is also nice, but the removal of some iconic stuff + gamecube controller support and analogue triggers just doesn't feel right.

Again if you look at the other examples for less money it does seem a bit dissapointing, spyro and crash are definitely lower quality games but the people do have a point.

Spyro and Crash are the beast argument against it, however, if anyone was expecting a lower price point they really don't know Nintendo.

If you are looking at solely the current market price, and not any of the price is not unreasonable.  eShop for Galaxy is $20, $10 for 64 but its Sunshine that drives the price up.  That alone is still regularly $50-60 on the aftermarket.

I agree with the arguments especially compared to spyro and crash.

But on the other hands these are 3 of the best games of all time, and in terms of content 1 single 3d mario game had more content than the entire collections of 3 games of either spyro or crash. But again content and quality doesn't matter because in general older ports are usually sold for way less money.

However, Nintendo ain't that generous with ports for it's older games like sony or xbox, so these weren't that readily available in terms of legit ways anyway. because if where talking downloads in the eshop. Not many people bought a wii u and I'm pretty sure you can't buy download titles on a classic wii anymore, even though online play is still possible.

So considering how trash the wii u sold, and how the online classic wii store is down. you can only play mario 64 ds on 3ds eshop or you need to buy old games physical on older consoles. it ain't that easy to come by thanks to nintendo rarely giving us ports of older games that aren't 2d.

emulation is obviously an option, not to hard either wich ironicly will look better than this port introduced by proffesionals, but allot of people are against that even for old games, so at the end of the day it's going to sell for the 60$. if these where spyro or crash tiered games I highly doubt nintendo would get away with it though. legacy content really.

Nintendo 1st-party games being more expensive is nothing new.

Nintendo 1st-party games being more expensive is nothing new.

Sure but the snes mini had a collection of 30 games for around 3$ each right. tons of first party titles.

you also have to remember, mario 64 was offered for 10$ in multiple nintendo eshops and mario galaxy was even physical brand new 20$ with it's nintendo selects release at the end of the life cycle, and in the wii u eshop it was 15 to 20$. if mario sunshine was in the eshop it would have probably been 10$ aswell.

And that was years ago, not recently. considering those prices allot of people didn't expect 60$

it's kinda ironic how digital is more pricy than physical, digital will always be 60$ meanwhile the physical copy of mario 3d all stars brand new can vary from 40 to 60$, with quite some opportunities below 50$. convenience factor must be important these days.

If you expected a collection of three mario games with a physical release to be anything other than $60 - I don’t know what to tell you.

I immediately showed the trailer to my dad and even he said ‘probably £50’ (I.e. full retail) and he’s old and doesn’t play games.

most sales will be 60$ digital

Minority will get physical seeing as that might be quite limited. even after a restock or 2 allot less people will have a physical copy considering how fast the pre orders went down.

And again physical is actually cheaper than digital, it was easily 55 or below for physical from multiple sources even as low as 40 at times.

As I get older, I’ve realized there’s 2 real problems that come along with being an adult and gaming.

1) You have less time to play games.
2) You have money to buy all the games you want.

I used to spend time in stores just looking at games and wishing I could buy them. Now, I just look at all the games I’ve bought a wish I could play them.

I have been feeling this even more recently. Primarily because I decided to get rid of this TV stand I had for my old CRT TV and replaced it with this cheap media shelf so now a good chunk of my library is staring at me in the corner of my room whereas the stand had the games hidden since its all I had at the time. I guess its also more daunting due to the fact that while my collecting habits have decreased, just knowing that I have all of this gives me a sense of well what now?
