I looked into this a bit and there are some limitations, biggest of which is that the system doesn't allow for any animations. Everything is static. That being said we are years away from an engine actually using this technology as it would have to combine itself with a standard poly engine for anything animated.

Isn't this tech used to convert dot cloud data to polys in real time? Then the polys can be plastered all over your object in the game engine.

I remember this. If you look closely, the objects are all the same. Not even rotated. Although this system would be good for basic needs, it is too limited. If you could mix this and polys together in a map, then you could possibly get something good.

Basically, the technology has existed for quite a while but has never really been looked into because of limitations.
