Links timeout and then redirect to feed
« on: January 16, 2015, 04:11:41 pm »
I've noticed this a lot and forgot to post about it. Many times I click on a link to a page on the site, it sits for a period of time and then will send me to my Feed. I've seen this in each of these scenarios:
- clicking a link to an entry, say from the Duplicate Listing thread
- clicking on a link to someone's collection from a page on another website

The first time I do this, I end up at my feed. If I reclick the link, then I end up in the correct place.
This has happened both on Firefox and Chrome.

That's... uh... normal.

See, the main portion of the site technically logs you out when you close your browser. So when you reopen it and go to the site - not the forum - it logs you back in and boots you to the feed.

I don't understand it either, but it's been like that for a while and I'm just used to it by now, heh.

One of the issues if that the Feed query is ridiculously slow. The other issue is that the original link you clicked on isn't honored and you are sent back to your feed no matter what. These issues are on my list to look at sometime.
