Found a complete / mint copy of Super Mario All-Stars LE for the Wii last night at a local GS. I pounced on it. Also, I'm good friends w/ the manager of my nearest GS & he got a store about 150 miles away to transfer their complete / mint copy of Bayonetta 2 down. It's going to be a b-day gift for a friend who missed out on it. Was the only copy showing in their inventory system in a 100 mile radius.
I remember the scramble to get those All-Stars LEs when they first came out. I was going to get it as a Xmas present that year. I pointed it out in the store to my family and then they secretly grabbed the wrong Mario game, I found out right away but the store sold out before we could go back and trade it. Luckily, Best Buy still had them online so I managed one from there. Evidently people still covet them. It's a cool LE and I like the soundtrack, but will always prefer the originals over the All-Stars versions.
Don't get me wrong, I bought that game day one, probably because my wife made me... but I was super disappointed with this game. The original All-Stars updated the visuals of all of the games from 8-bit to 16-bit, and when they re-released All-stars with Super Mario World, they even updated the sprites in SMW for Luigi to further differentiate the characters. I loved that, they weren't lazy one bit and it turned out fantastic. This Wii release... it's literally an emulation of the original SNES ROM.
Also, my personal copy of All-stars was received through that deal where you sent Nintendo your proof of purchase of a SNES and $3.50 for S/H and they sent you a copy in the mail. Which, as a child, I thought was ridiculously awesome.
