I went to a video games store earlier today and saw a copy of kirby super star for the snes. I've been looking for that game for quite some time so I didnt really mind paying a good amount of money for it. There was a price sticker for 120$ CAN (about 86$US) on it. So I asked the guy working there if it's complete and he said yes. We opened it and it was really CIB even with nintendo ad. Now, knowing the game is worth some money (not know how much exactly) and really wanting the game, I bought it without even checking the price on ebay. Now I am home and I just checked ebay.ca and there isn't a lot of them for sale and they go for over 180$CAN(129$US) and none of them are as great as the one I bought. However, that chain (they do have a lot of store all over Quebec) is known to sell game for more then what they go for and now I am wondering if they sold me a fake. The box, book, cart and everything is in really really good shape (see photos) and the board looks like a real one. I'd really appreciate it if someone could compare his/hers board with mine and tell me if it's legit. Any feedback is appreciated and I really hope I got a good deal out of it. thanks for reading link to imgur for pics http://imgur.com/a/oOwOY |

Here's a guide for spotting fakes: http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=5&threadid=100252 As for price, I'm looking at VGPC sold cib listings, most are around $70-80, the ones you see at $130 on ebay usually take a long time to sell at that price. You did fine. There's also a remake for this on the ds that's about 20 bucks cib as well. |

Box is real, you can tell that it's grey card with sticker paper. As far as I know, no repros are going to that kinda trouble yet. I don't see anything off about it. Sometimes stores give you a break on the really expensive stuff. |

Based on your pictures it looks legit to me. The only "issue" with your copy is it appears to be a Majesco reissue release as evidenced by the "Made in Mexico" printed on the cartridge. In the twilight years of the SNES, Majesco had arranged a deal with Nintendo and several other publishers to re-release some of their better known games as companies were shifting their focus to the 32/64-bit consoles. Most of the Majesco releases were inferior in quality as their labels on the carts didn't look as sharp and they reprinted the instruction books in black & white. I noticed yours is has a color manual so check the spine to see if it says "Made in Mexico" or "Made in Japan". What could have happened is the store owner Frankensteined a complete copy together from different sources. :P |
