Anyone read the news today that Sony is merging Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment International in to Sony Interactive Entertainment.
That moves Shawn Layden to the head of Worldwide Studios at Sony Interactive Entertainment and bumps Shuhei Yoshida who will now report to Shawn.
Shawn will be reporting to Andrew House directly.
Hierarchy - if I understand it correctly:
Andrew House - Global CEO
Shawn Layden - Chairman of Worldwide Studios
Shuhei Yoshida - President of Worldwide Studios
Discuss here if you think this will be a beneficial move for Playstation, or if it will be business as usual.
My personal thought is this is a good move by Sony. It will bring some cohesiveness between the units and enable them to have better collaboration and discover ways to benefit each other. They were already working together (obviously they had to), but this will give them the incentive to work hand in hand since success of the company will only be obtained if they both succeed.
