Gameroom solutions: multiple power adapters?
« on: May 09, 2016, 11:24:21 am »
Just wondering: are there any nifty solutions for those of us who run several retro gaming consoles to one TV and use several power adapters to keep everything up and running? i guess there are plenty of ways to maintain it ranging from plugging and unplugging the systems each time you switch consoles or just using a big power strip....  but i thought i'd see if there are any fancier ways of doing this.

If I were to do such a thing, I would want an industrial type power strip, something that looks like this:

One of the things that makes the Sega Power strip ideal is the fact you can put multiple bricks on it, aside from it saying Sega on it. Any power strip where you can put in multiple bricks without covering up other sockets is the way to go. These types of power strips can be mounted directly onto a wall, or a shelf/rack like in that picture. I have used these types of power strips in my company's production facilities, and thought it would be great for this kind of thing.

I don't have multiple consoles, or a large amount, hooked up to any one television. Instead, I have multiple televisions about the house, and limit what I plug into them.

That's pretty cool. Helps save some money, to be able to power the whole power strip off rather than let it idle while it's plugged in (as so many newer consoles are apt to do now).

And much safer running the rack mounts, ill just need 2 myself, i also have one wire rack already for my systems but need a 2nd one. but damn, wire rack shelves arent cheap.

Also OP, may I suggest the following.

I use both of these.

http://www.amazon.com/MT-VIKI-Splitter-Selector-Adapter-MT-831AV/dp/B00DRGDBTG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462843098&sr=8-1&keywords=8+port+rca

Works awesome, another VGCer bought one too after seeing me post about it.

and for HDMI systems

http://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-501BN-Premium-wireless-adapter/dp/B0049SCB2Y/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1462843106&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=5+port+hdmui

this one is auto turns. PS4 has some issues, any other system, i can turn the channel and when I turn it back, the feed still is there. but for some reason. the ps4, has to have that input channel turned to it, before turning the ps4 on, and if i switch channels, and turn back, it acts like its no longer feeding and says "no connections" on the tv.
