Your collection in 5-years from now
covfefe2020:
Cognitively, I am completely content with my current game collection...
Obviously, logic and conscious thought don't determine my dreams.
The main plan is to merge my game collection with my girlfriends. She has a Wii u and a ps4, which perfectly fills in the gaps in my own collection (I have GCN Wii and Switch, and PSX PS2 PS3). Having access to ps4 hardware for the first time may open up new possibilities for me, seeing as ps4 game discs are dirt cheap nowadays ( I pretty much refuse to pay more than $30 for a video game anymore). I could see myself finally trying out all of the classics (God of War, TLOU2, etc). And I definitely need to get the Mass Effect Legendary edition after playing ME1 on it at a friends house.
Other than that. Someday I also want to get an xbox one model. I wanted to ask you guys about that. I'm thinking that I will have an xbone mostly for the sake of owning the whole generation from the big three, and wont be buying xbox live, so no online multiplayer. Would it be worth it to get the one s or one X models over the base phat model Xbone? I'm drawn towards the one X simply because I think its a great looking console, but so is the one S (I hate the glossy black of the original), are the differences in performance between them that noticeable? I won't have a 4k TV and care more about framerate than raw graphical quality if that matters.

I'll probably have pretty much all interesting ps1, ps2, gamecube and ds titles by than other collection will be exapnded by allot.
I also hope that I can pickup a neo geo aes console with some games.

Welp I definitely did get to 2K games in 5 years. Maybe i get to 4K in a few years.
And i did manage to get a AES + some games
progression has been going fine, still finding new stuff to add to the collection and crossing of higher value good titles across retro consoles.

I've reached the point of collecting where I have almost everything I have ever wanted. My plan is to have a complete NA CIB retail set for the following systems:
PS1- Done
PS2- 48 games to go
NES- 37 games to go
SNES- 47 games to go
N64- 14 games to go
Virtua Boy- 3 games to go
Genesis- 6 games to go
32X- 1 game to go
Sega CD- Done
Master System- 1 game to go
Sega Saturn- Done
Sega Dreamcast- Done
Atari Jaguar- Done
Atari Jaguar CD- Done
Atari Lynx- 4 to go
3DO- 2 to go
TG-16- 27 to go
TG-CD- 30 to go
In 5 years- I hope to have at least 5 more complete sets done.
In terms of quantity- this is not a lot of games really, but in terms of $$$- it's astronomical so it will be probably something I work toward for the rest of my life.
Otherwise- I'm hoping in 5 years- we move to an even bigger house and I can finally put in custom shelving and build the game room of my dreams. I have a pretty solid space right now but it's just not quite the right size and I think it could be so much better.

I'm going to guess ill be down to buying expensive/hard to find games. My NES collection will still be missing stadium events. I'll probably have a full Virtual Boy set and a finished MAME cabinet.
We'll just have to wait and see.

Ha! I nailed part of it.
Still no Staidum Events
Didn’t complete that Virtual Boy set
I opted to have a small computer set up with lunchbox and a X-Arcade Tankstick. It’s a big ass arcade joystick. I can stick it in a closet and not permanently take up space.
9 years later. Life has changed a lot. Still have a ton of games. I’m not mad at it.

Hopefully, I will finish my wishlist and stop... but sometimes I love hunting too much.

No clue what my count was back then but I'm sure way more than a thousand more games
Didn't finish my wishlist, but did stop.. so I got that going for me.
