What are the best offline co-op games?

Atari 2600 to present day.

Wizard of Wor for the 2600 and Centipede for the 7800 are two of my favorite classic co-op games.

Now that I think about it I haven't played too many actual co-op games: Pikmin 2, Ratchet Gladiator, Crash Bash, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Super Mario Galaxy.  The only ones that I kind of enjoyed co-op.

I find that I've had just as much, if not more fun with friends playing single-player games: Luigi's Mansion, Metal Gear Solid 3 and Vagrant Story to name a few.
