The Nintendo Super System!  I've been looking for a good one for years.  They're always so dang high!

Depends on the game and what it was intended to be played on I guess.
I always use a joystick on fighting games and shot em ups if available though.

Like others have mentioned. Definitely D-Pad for most games, however when it comes to fighting games which I used to play competitively I always use an Hori or a Mad Catz, especially for the Street Fighter series (mainly 4 and 5 now) and Tekken. The inputs on a fight stick is just more fluid, timing as well for me personally.

Speaking of fighting games, I'm pretty excited that Arika is releasing a new EX Fighting game next year (EX Fighting Layer). Here's hoping D. Dark makes the roster.

Yes, I loved that cabinet.  I'd go to the pizza hut in my small town and it was there and it really stood out for having that controller.  I think after that was taken out, we had a cabinet for 1942.  A local game store I go to where I live right now has one of the Nintendo Super Systems in it which is pretty great lol

Movement to a technical sense, the mouse is best used for looking.

One exception is games ported from consoles, at times it is best to use a controller (Xbox 360 thumbstick) for movement and the mouse for looking. An example of this is Saints Row the Third.

Keyboard. 

nothing wrong with the keyboard, I'll still play PC video games with a keyboard including DOOM other FPS's, (that is) offline. but when I used to play online on winning streaks agaist people who used to use I'm guessing a controller, or both a keyboard and mouse with or without an aimbot (not sure).

My right hand would cramp up on occasion and I would have to release the controls and shake off the pain. I mean I didn't even need to be drunk and I would still win playing doom and other ID games online with the Zandronum engine it was awsome 

it is esay to use both keyboard and mouse but for most of the time I never touched the mouse just played (strict  keyboard)
