I don't know if you're actual that old, but that does make an interesting point. Someone in like their late 50's onward wouldn't really be able to fill in such a list. It really makes you think how new, relativity speaking, videogames are as a medium. It's probably fairly rare for such a demographic to play video games, but it would have been interesting to see that conflict occur with this list.

Fortunately, the topic title doesn't say "video games" it just says games. I had almost had to put some pinball machines on my list, due to the "not having played many newly released games" comment, but I ended up finding some on my Steam I had played that I kind of forgot about because they are not physical versions for me. So if you can include pinball machines and arcade games, the list could go back pretty far.

This is harder than it sounds. Some years there were dozens of games that could have made the list, other years I couldn't think of a single game from the lists that I looked at that I enjoyed, and then there are years like 1990 where there had to have been better games but I couldn't find any that I liked better. There were years where I either didn't own a console or was playing older consoles or games and didn't experience the current games.
