I’ll never forget the moment when I got my first video game on the Christmas morning of 1990. It was a Master System with two games: Paperboy and Alex Kidd in Miracle World, the latter of which became my favorite game (at least until I played Metal Gear Solid many years later). I remember playing it for hours with my dad and writing the jankenpon sequences to defeat the bosses on the wall of the living room, which always got my mom mad. It took us exactly one year to clear the game, on the Christmas of 1991.
This is one of my childhood’s dearest memories and, up to this day, whenever I go back to Brazil, I often catch my dad whistling the main theme of the game.
