Favorite Movie of 2017

Lots of new movies to watch this year, some good, some bad, so what were your favorite?

I watched a ton, and looking back, I think it might be hard for me to pick just one overall favorite, so I'm probably gonna just pick my top 5. Some stuff didn't make the cut, but I liked Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Wonder Woman was actually watchable, Thor Ragnarok was fun, and John Wick 2 was good.  The Last Jedi was good too, even with a few of the problems I had with it.

War for the Planet of the Apes was probably my favorite
Was surprised when Kong Skull Island was actually pretty decent

I wish I had seen The Shape of Water.  Del Toro is great and it looked really interesting.

John Wick: Chapter 2

Blade Runner 2049 was my favorite movie of the year, nothing else even came close.  I was completely against the movie being made, yet I ended up seeing it twice in the theater lol.

The Last Jedi gets the nod for second best.  Really enjoyed the movie and I'm interested to see where they take the series for episode IX.  Recency bias aside, I liked it more than The Force Awakens.

I absolutely loved Logan Lucky. Super fun movie. It was my favorite movie of the year until I saw The Last Jedi, which now takes that spot.

Honorable mentions go to The Foreigner, Wind River, Guardians Vol. 2, Atomic Blonde, Pirates of the Caribbean; Dead Men Tell No Tales, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Lego Batman, Wonder Woman, The Big Sick, and Dunkirk.

Also saw Night of the Living Dead (1968), The Green Mile, and the Invisible Woman (1940) each for the first time this year and loved each of those.

Man, movies are great.

Wow, this made me realize I have been interested in like 0 movies. Literally the only 2017 movie I saw was The Lego Batman movie because it was on TV. It was fine, so I guess it wins best move of 2017 to me by default...?

Man, I really am not excited by movies much. Last movies I saw in the theater where Big Hero 6 & Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014 just going with people. Last I personally wanted to see was Wreck-It Ralph, and District 9 before that. I was interested in Ex Machina but didn't see it in the theaters. I think I've seen less then 1 movie in theaters a year for the past decade...

I wonder if I just don't like movies very much or just nothing I care about gets made in the mainstream...?

The only film I saw that released in all of 2017 was "IT" and it wasn't that great really... I watched a lot of movies, just nothing new really
