Since I really enjoy replaying games, I'd go with giving up modern titles.

I would say future games because almost all great games from the past will be re-released at some point so you never really have to go without them. I think I would still pick this option even if re-releases didn't count as "new games" because I will always have fond memories of old games (or ones Ive played) but if I didn't go new I would never get to add to those fond memories.

I've played a ton of games and never beaten them, so that adds a lot of unknown gaming to one side of the argument. However, with the about of games being released on the regular and how often indie games release stuff with the "retro" look, it makes it an even harder choice.

I'd have to go with future games as much as it would pain me to never play the Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest/Gears of War/Tales of/Legend of Heroes games I've enjoyed ever again.

In my case, I've already been doing it for the last decade or so. I always stick with the classics.
