Games slightly different from the one I found when searching...

Hello.

I love the site and just started entering my collection. I tried my best to match what I have with exact matches from the search results.

My first "huh?" moment was entering Madden 07 (PS2). The item number and barcode matches with the entry, but my front cover has some logos in different places. Specifically, the online logo and the Players INC logos are flip flopped from what is in the current database.

The one that really struck me as odd is my copy of Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (PS2). The item number matches but the barcode on the database entry does not match the barcode number on the copy I have. Also, my copy has the Online Broadband Only logo and the current database entry does not. I don't have the limited edition of the game.

So, my question is does this matter? Am I being too detail oriented? Should I just match my games so I know what I have and not worry about having "exact" matches?

Some of the photos in the db are stock photos. Maybe half of them. Also, a lot of covers are just the covers and do not have the hologram logos that are put on the plastic case.

I fixed the barcode and art for this entry for Chaos Theory.

so the currently entered barcode (00888392149) is for the LIMTIED edition of the game and shouldn't be entered as the base games barcode and your barcode (008888322146) seems to be the correct barcode for the base game. I will confirm when I get off work if this is true.

either way we do have a lot of errors on the database that are caused by people either not noticing the subtle differences before they add information or by them not caring to make sure the information they are editing is correct. also sometimes (particularly at gamestop) when you buy a game it can be mish mashed together with different parts that weren't necessarily together to begin with.

EDIT: Whoops I meant Limited edition not collectors edition...

I know I don't have the limited edition because the entire cover is a different image from what I can tell.

I won't add anymore confusion and let you guys sort it out.

The name of this thred perfectly describes my situation. I live in the Czech republic so lots of my games have localized text on the box and the barcodes are mostly totally different but sometimes they differ only at last 3 digits. Box art is mostly the same but in some cases there are different symbols or logos. Should I submit those as new items or not if only barcode and logos are different?
For example this entry: https://vgcollect.com/item/139423 - mine doesn't have Atari and i2 logos on the back or on the front side doesn't have the three logos from the left side etc.
