Off Topic / Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS)
« on: December 22, 2017, 01:24:33 pm »
Based on daily comparisons Jurrasic World just caught up to Star Wars Last Jedi. Either Disney hopes that kids getting out of school will bump this movie or repeat viewings and word of mouth has slowed down the box office.

They will still make money, but if they feel they have left money on the table then they will course correct for the next film.

Agree with most of what Bikingjahuty wrote.

What irks me the most about this movie was Rian's idea that the "Jedi must die". He did his best to create a film that erases anything important about the last seven episode films and relishes in the dumping of it. Destroys Kylo's mask because "he is no Vader". Proves that only fools rush in as heroes and save the day when he sabotages Poe's character, and makes Luke a washed up Jedi that contemplated murder. He doesn't even have the courage to say goodbye to his sister in person and face Kylo after the mistake he made. Finn needed to be shown how much of a selfish brute he was and that he had no understanding of love even though that was what he learned already in Force Awakens.

We are given a glimpse of Kylo and Rey both being very open to both sides of the Force, but with no pay off or lingering questions. Imagine if the film ended with Kylo offering Rey to take his hand and rule and Rey hesitates. It would put people in the seats for part nine. Imagine if Rey was the twin born to Han and Leia and she finds out in Snoke's throne room which makes the decision harder since she feels so alone. Kylo could have been the one to save Leia in space which would make me as a viewer wonder if he could turn good, or at least shock me more when in a final moment he turns on Rey and wounds her. The original film were amazing because there were heroes, betrayals, twists, and shocks. Last Jedi was fan fiction sold to me for a $10 ticket price.

They should have used Lucas' outline for the new trilogy and written some amazing screenplays. The overall stories have always worked and Lucas has been able to get some good screenplays written from them even if you hate his dialogue choices and movies the overall story has always worked for me.

Oh and the milking of the manatee sitting upright like a human with nasty nipples was disturbing. Especially how Luke looked at Rey like a pedophile while chugging it letting it slosh down his beard and chin like a sick pervert. The light saber throwing seen and calling it a laser sword I can maybe forgive but not that disgusting joke scene of Luke milking the animal. Reminded me of the farting animal in Episode 1. I mean if they wanted to show he was living off the land they might as well showed him artificially inseminating an animal with his bare hands or having to use a toilet with no plumbing, right. Just go ahead and give us a scene where Luke is instructing Rey while on the toilet. You can hear him grunting and there would be a small window so he can give her the glare that says,  "you want to be a Jedi then you must milk the manatee beast, inseminate animals, and take nasty dumps... Look at me Rey, look at the milk pouring down me too and I'm on the potty."

I for sure have a the Japanese version without the red square on it. My version looks like the VGCOLLECT packaging picture. So it appears that a new version was released unless the red Nintendo square was never put in to production.

Ko1ru - do you have the version with a red square or seen it available other than just a picture on Amazon? Just curious.

EDIT: Tripredacus posted before me and has it all figured out.

Just started playing Persona 5 yesterday. I'm instantly hooked. I had people telling me it was really good but god I honestly can't even put it down.

And it makes me interested in the previous entries as well.

I played this for about 10 hours and then took a break and now I'm having a hard time getting back on to it. Not sure what happed to me. I love turn based combat normally so I'm not sure why i can't get engaged again.

Loving Valkyria Revolution so far. The story is good and the combat is fun. I feel somewhat overwhelmed with the ragnite system, but I'm only two battles in so I hope I learn more as I go.

I will probably start Xenoblade Chronicles X tonight. I've heard the game is not good teaching combat techniques so I'm a little worried I might not like it since I don't have time to devote to it with family, work, life.

Starting in on Valkyria Revolution tonight for PS4. Not expecting much so I think I will end up liking it.

Also continuing on with Sonic Mania. Need to finish getting Chaos Emeralds. Have about half of them. Found an exploit to help get to the bonus level quicker.

Just mentioning that I found it challenging, too, after you laughed about people finding it challenging. Never said end of the world about anything.

Sorry - didn't mean to come across as an elitist A hole in the Sonic Mania challenging post. I was trying to redirect by saying it isn't a big deal to get a game over. Sorry if I offended you with the posts.   ;D

@burningdoom - Hydrocity is not a fun zone until you play through it a few times and learn the best paths. Seeing a game over screen is not the end of the world. The Sonic franchise has always been about multiple playthroughs to learn the routine, find the best path, and secrets.

Regarding Shenmue 3 - I thought it looked good for the budget it has. I would have been happier to see Sega publish the game or at least handle the distribution so there would have been a chance to see a Shenmue remaster bundle along side part 3. I think Sony left them high and dry after showcasing it as though they were in it together. Yu Suzuki had said Sony was helping with distribution and it looks like that fell through. I wonder if Sony is not happy with the progress and dropped it.  Current ETA puts it in the ballpark of Final Fantasy VII remake, Kingdom Hearts 1284658392.47463883 Aftersleep IN:SH 48564838.474684, and the new Half-Life.

Nintendo's naming convention has finally lost me.

I think they had it so easy at first Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo that after that it fell apart.

Wii, Wii U, 2ds, 3ds, 3ds XL, New 3ds xl, New 2ds, 3ds LL... Wait until we get the "Brand New Switch *snap* Rumble Missing Not Portable".

I have friends who are so confused when their kid is asking for a "Pokémon system". "My kid wants that 3d Gameboy. Why are all the colors different prices?"

Dragon Warrior / Dragon Quest back on the NES. I rented it not knowing it was an RPG. I was so shocked and I instantly fell in love with it.

My first RPG that had modern story telling techniques (cut-scenes) was Final Fantasy VII followed immediately by Lunar Silver Star Story. Both incredible for the time period. Revolutionary for people like me that had been playing RPGs since the 8 bit days.

So, The Boy was got a little goofy the other night and bought Sonic Mania for the ole Switch'aroo.  I played it through 3 levels to give it a chance.  Sonic still sucks

Ouch. One of my favorite games of the year so far. Cracks me up that all the reviews say it is hard though. Kids these days didn't grow up blowing through quarters at the arcade enhancing their hand eye coordination. This has been such an easy Sonic game.

I know I'm late to the party...

I work as a Analyst for Coca-Cola. I mostly find ways to save the company money.

Work with SQL, databases, Office Suite, SAP, all the usual suspects.

Poppy, in her knitted bunny ear sweater, is calling out in to the void, the darkness, the deepest parts of our soul....  "I'm Poppy"

And maybe that is all we need to know.

I reckon it is all there is to know.

I really enjoy the 3D effect and play all of my games with it enabled. I have only seen it hinder gameplay once. It was when playing Lego Hobbit it actually makes one of the bosses nearly impossible to defeat because the system has a hard time calculating the 3D effect and receiving user input at the same time.

I would go check out a display model at your local Target or Best Buy and see what you think of it. Some people swear by it and some people despise it. It really is a personal opinion on what makes you happy while gaming.
