Title: Atlus
Post by: desocietas on December 14, 2011, 05:39:51 pm
Atlus is doing a very slow game reveal..
Day 1: Game's title starts with G.
Day 2: Game's title ends with R.

Here's today's clue:

But does anyone know what that icon is for the next clue...?  In the past few days, it's been Facebook, then Twitter...

Oh, no wonder my non-gaming friends couldn't figure out the icon... it's for http://www.neogaf.com/

Ha, I never go to neogaf, so I had no clue as to what that logo was either...

Yeah, I'd never heard of it, actually... :\

NeoGaf has somehow become the largest gaming forum on the net over the past 5 years. They post news quicker than any other site out there.

Some PSP Growlanser game? That starts with g and ends with r >_<

It's a Sesame Street game based on Grover. >_>

I'd also go with Growlanser. They did publish a Growlanser game on PlayStation 2.

Didn't atlus announce that last year that they were planning on releasing enhanced remakes of growlanser for PSP?

I'll guess Growlanser as well.  It's about time too.  Now Atlus.  Langrisser, make it happen.

@ffxik Agreed!

It'd be pretty anticlimactic if they'd already announced Grownlanser and that's what this long reveal is about...

Growlanser IV was a ps2 game too. But it was only released in japan I believe.

Hm, I've never played any of them... but yeah, looks like only II, III, and V were released in the states... releasing IV would make a lot of sense.

Growlanser IV The Wayfarer of the Time.  Nice.  I can put it with my LE I had imported from Japan.  Well that just sealed the deal for me. I am definately going to have to buy a PSP.

Still though I wonder if this does well they will consider bringing the rest of the Growlanser series the US missed out on over.

I can unofficially say that you will be pleased...

Right?

Totally.

Gungnir makes sense too. Haven't played Riviera, Yggdra or Knights in the Nightmare though. Considering how much I like some games of this genre, this needs to be corrected soon.

Well, I hope so...been waiting ever since the japanese version was announced.
Hoping for the rest of the "Union" spinoffs.

I didn't go into details since the information I received has an embargo date of 12/21 (not that Atlus would know who I am), but it's obvious from my post above what the game is :) I don't know anything about this series, but based on the information I received I'd say it's whatever one was released in Japan earlier this year.

Hm, but wait... is there a IV in that title?

It must just be the 4th in the series because I've got the box art and it has no number or subtitle, though the Japanese release does have a subtitle on its box.

From what I've seen. None of this series games have numbers. I wouldnt have even known this and knights in the nightmare were related, have I not looked gungnir up.

ditto!  i'm bewildered but am waiting to see if @psydswipe is indeed correct about this one ( i have no real reason to doubt, really)
I'd never heard of Dept. Heaven nor knew that all these titles were part of it:
    Episode I: Riviera
    Episode II: Yggdra Union
Episode III (some sort of mmorpg?)
Episode IV: Knights in the Nightmare
Episode IX: Gungnir: Inferno of the Demon Lance and the War of Heroes
... the numbering is very odd and leads me to believe it's *not* the fourth game in the series... unless you don't look at the roman numerals and don't count the online mmorpg... *then* it's the fourth one.

Not sure if you guys add games before release so I won't add it. Seems like it could be a hassle to update box art and release dates. Anyways, the embargo has been lifted so here is the box art:

Excellent!  I think we do add games before release dates so people are able to put things in their wishlist.  But yeah, eventually stuff has to have updated artwork after release...  Thanks so much, @psydswipe!  I'm enjoying the PSP love Atlus is givin' these days..

Yeah there are a bunch of games that aren't released yet already in the database. Some are speculated titles though, and that should be avoided. But if it's been officially announced go ahead and add it up!

Yeah, I got this from Atlus today.   Kind of surprised it's not being released directly for Vita instead, although I'm sure it'll be available on PSN for it.

I got this as well from Atlus.  I love these books, the 1st season was awesome, but I'm not holding my breath for the game...

I'll go with my previous guess of "Some PSP Growlanser game".

I've no idea this time :) I only knew the last one early because Atlus sent me some marketing materials. For my job some companies send me the same stuff they send retailers, but unfortunately not too many publishers do that. Atlus is one of the more helpful game publishers.

By the way, Gungnir has been added: http://vgcollect.com/item/20611

Turns out the next game is one a lot of us were guessing the first time. The embargo will be lifted tomorrow.
