Site Feedback / Implementation of Special Announcements Upon Log-in

Just like the title says. There should be a system implemented on the website that causes an announcement to pop up whenever users log in, specifically during special occasion, like whenever there are polls taking place on the forums that intend to make any type of change to the website. Based on the various polls that have taken place on the forums in the past that concern the Style Guide, the participation was abysmally low and in no way representative of the number of users the website as a whole actually has. The announcement would be a way to not only bring attention to the users, but also stir interest in the goings-on of the website they're using, the forums themselves, and to also help diversify the discussion and vote results. I think it would be great to see other people joining the fold and voicing their opinions, and believe what I'm proposing is simple enough to help on this front; after all, VGCollect isn't just the few of us that keep participating on the forums.

So I guess I have to be an admin to not have my thread locked without including pictures?

I get the rules; trust me, I do, but there are times they can be bent slightly within reason, as evidenced here, and with other topics of the same nature. Don't twist my words, though, I'm not implying special treatment, but I was clear I would share pictures of the games to anyone interested, which I actually did; you can ask bikingjahuty who sent me an email about two of the games I listed, and he was sent pictures.

Nevertheless, my apologies for using your thread to air this out, soera, but I feel what was done to mine was uncalled for. But agree to disagree, as they say. I'll just leave at that and carry on.

Site Feedback / Overlapping Header

I'm not sure if anybody has noticed, but I did while looking around my collection that the header is overlapping. Not sure exactly how to describe it, so below is a screenshot of what I'm referring to.



It's far more noticeable when you go to the "About" page.



It seems that the icons on the far right (highlighted on the first image) are the culprit of why this is happening. Maybe if the're better organized this could be fixed.

Marketplace / Looking for PS2 and PS3 Insert/Cover Artwork

I'm looking for the insert / cover artwork for Orphen: Scion of Sorcery for the PS2 and for Blur for the PS3. I have a few inserts (some with manuals) that I'd be willing to trade for Orphen's. As for Blur, I have the insert for Bleach: Soul Resurrección, which I'm willing to trade for...or any other of the PS2 inserts if preferred.

I managed to get the artwork/insert for Blur from a seller on eBay. Still looking for Orphen's, though...

Classic Video Games / Sub Rebellion: Trying to 'S' the Final Mission

Has anyone here played Sub Rebellion?

I got and finished this game about four years ago (if memory serves). I haven't played it since, but during that time I tried to get S rank on the final mission, but it seems nigh impossible. I was wondering if someone here has played it and managed to get the rank. What was your method? Any tips?

To those that haven't played it, it's a great game. It's by IREM, and it's considered a spiritual successor to "In the Hunt". There's also a game for the PlayStation called "Tigershark" that's quite similar.

Site Feedback / Review process for new entries/blacklist + a way to explain edits

I don't know if this has been recommended/asked before (I admit I didn't bother to check), but this website would benefit from having a system where all submissions are put in review for approval or perhaps have a blacklist for users that tend to submit dupes or submit entries without enough/proper information.

Also, I think it would be beneficial to add a field or something akin to it so that when an edit is made to an entry, an explanation can be provided for whoever reviews said edit. This could help prevent misunderstandings and such.

Didn't want to over-complicate things, so I went with as simple an explanation as possible.

Video Game Database Discussion / Regarding Performance Release Type

I took the initiative of editing all of the Performance accessories that are currently in the database and changed their release type to "unofficial" given those products weren't sponsored, endorsed or approved by the companies they made accessories for.

As stated on the back of many of their products: "This product is not sponsored, endorsed or approved by [NAME OF GAME COMPANY]."

I'm certain there are many other instances of this in the database, but I decided to start with Performance first.

I didn't edit this particular entry because I'm quite unsure of it. I know there is a Performance Battery Pak for the Game Boy, though...

Of note, I also changed the publisher on many of the entries to "InterAct Accessories [Inc.]", which are the ones who developed/published all of the Performance products. And just to note, Performance is the name of the product line, not an actual company/developer/publisher.

Lastly, as soon as I can I will clean up these entries with more info and images.

Video Game Database Discussion / Regarding Warzone 2100 and Spyro Collectors' Collection

Hi there, new here, yada-yada...

I made some edits to some entries, and some stuff got rejected, which I'm not going to make a fuzz about, as I'm mostly here to keep tabs on my collection. However, for two of them I uploaded front covers given the current ones don't properly correlate with the actual product, and these were seemingly rejected as well.

Case and point being Warzone 2100, which has, what I believe an early cover.

The same goes for Spyro Collectors' Collection, which, while technically has the "correct" cover, the current image is a placeholder commonly used online on Amazon and eBay to name examples.

By the way, the database has quite a number of duplicates. I made the common mistake of not copy+pasting the ones I came across, but here are some I just stumbled with:

Beyond Good and Evil dupe of Beyond Good & Evil
D.I.C.E.- DNA Integrated Cybernetic Enterprises dupe of DICE: DNA Integrated Cybernetic Enterprises EDITED
