General / Have You Ever Owned A Steam Machine?
« on: June 21, 2018, 12:35:27 am »
First I want to give you a link where also the steam machine was talked about
https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,7321.msg118453.html#msg118453

I thought one would be cool a while back but never bought one. and some people in the earlier thread said that they owned one and turned it into a PC.

Does anyone own a steam machine that actually plays video games. I heard that a lot of steam games don't work on the steam machine due to it's Linux operating system

There is no "best", just favorites. My favorite is N64 because it holds the most nostalgia for me, the library is relatively small and easy to collect for, but with lots of killer games. Also, there aren't many games for it that truly break the bank.

Welcome to the VGCollect forum piscean64 :) I saw this is your first post

anyway, I also like the Nintendo 64 and it's library too :)

but a lot of people claim not to like it, because of it's controller. In my opinion the Nintendo 64 is a fantastic party machine, there is a lot of games that are good on it. I actually have most of the games for it all bought under $50 each, mostly from an online seller by the name of www.jjgames.com.

I find it has some gems on it like Xenia Warrior Princess, War Gods, and many vary fun both arcade and simulation sports games. I love the sports games on the Nintendo 64 but others find it not appealing

I don't have that many games on steam, but I remember I got the 3D Realms pack for I think $25.00 and it came with just about all the 3D Realms PC games all the Duke Nukems for PC and Shadow Warrior with all the expansions on both those games.

I think the pack came with like 20 full games or more with all the expansion pack for all 20 or so games off steam a few years back.

I partially lost interest in video games due to difficulty, they all now give me a headache I want to play Halo: Combat Evolved but I don't like how the enemies steal the vehicles   before you in later level and their is no way to complete the game,

I am stuck on that game with a way point needing to fly some kind or aircraft but the enemies keep jumping into the aircraft making the game impossible to progress to the last 2 levels.

Is there anyway to repair the broken aircraft of vehicles, because once the enemies steal them in order to kill the enemy you need to shoot them down >:(

So do you still own it? have you played all the games by now? Or did you lose interest in this thing? given you wrote that OP over 1 year ago. I am wondering about this machine. Usually those kind of machines are vary cheap plastic and some have controls that crash and reboot the device if you push too many buttons at once.

I have a Wii knock off that pressing the d-pad too fast causes the thing to reboot. I also have a few devices like this one. that hook directly up to a television

Yea to me they are well worth the purchase especially if the price is only $5-$10 on a full game

On most internet photo servers, your older collection photos get deleted and taken off the internet, I have used Facebook as a photo host in the past to link collection photos to a facebook URL. But not anymore because it interferes with my Christian fan page, But I find it annoying when I want to see a photo but the photo turns into a cat meowing and a sign saying photo not available.

Why do photo servers take off our game photos? Facebook usually don't take photos off unless it is nudity or violent due to the no violence and nudity laws of Facebook.

Does someone complain and report our photos? Just because they can or to be annoying on other photo host sites? it is annoying

You can do this on the forum by first uploading a photo to Facebook and then right clicking on a pc or laptop than copy image URL, and paste onto the forum by right clicking while writing a post.

then highlight the Image URL, then Select the button just right of the red button up (tiny Mona Lisa) top before posting on VGcollect

Dude, I’ve got kids. There are no luxuries for daddy.
Amen.

Collecting Transformers is my main hobby, and I barely have enough for that, with twin 5-year-olds, a mortgage and bills. I actually haven’t bought a new game for over a year due to lack of funds. I haven’t gotten a current-gen console for the same reason.
But, the boys are most important. If I had to sell my entire game collection to provide for them, I would.
That's the way to feel about it good for you.I feel the same.

It's a good thing to provide for your children before yourself, :)

Modern Video Games / Re: (edit) My Own Opinion With Modern Consoles

Literally any current gen game.

[/thread]

I did hear there were a few games that on the PlayStation 4 that played off the disc. But I also read some bullshit about the newer consoles not being powerful enough to actually read the disc. If you ask me that is crap. I mean the PlayStation 3 and Xbox360 but mostly on PS3 you could literly store 1000's of games on the hard drive with most patches and save slots taking up 1 or 2 gigabytes max on a 500 or 250 gigabyte system looking at the PS3 super slim and the Xbox360's. with a harddrive

Not 10 or 20 maximum like now adays, 500 gigabytes goes a short way as far a storage goes for games that are literally 50 gigabytes large, >:( do the math.

How does anyone collect for the modern consoles? without erasing some of their older save files on the hard drive and having to reinstall them to play again, not to mention big files eventually where out the hard drive more quickly >:(

My opinion so far is not spending over $250 (6-17-2018) on something that has cheap plastic and no guts to run the software to me it is a waste of money. you can buy a cheap PC new for $85 now

goggle says 2016

How big is the average PS4 hard drive?
PlayStation 4 Actual Hard Drive Space. The PlayStation 4 boasts a massive 500GB internal hard drive, but how much of it can you actually access? After tinkering with it, it turns out most of the space is available for games or apps. 407 GB of the 500 GB hard drive is available, with 93 GB of storage saved for the OS

How big is a ps4 game on average?
Witness GTA 5, a late-gen game if there ever was one. So games run from about 30-50, and we can average them at 40 gb for argument's sake and exclude the idea of DLC. At that size, a 500 gb hard drive will fit 12 games

At that size, a 500 gb hard drive will fit 12 games. So once you've got a full hard drive, you'll need to uninstall some games if you want to play more

sorry but that sounds like is a scam for even the working man sorry :'(

Only games you've already played are allowed  ;)

Oh in this case I would not restrict myself to the games I've already played. I would like to experience new games in fact I thought this topic was for modern or retro games, because as far as new tech goes I don't plan on playing a lot of today's games until later in life :)

Modern Video Games / (edit) My Own Opinon With Modern Consoles

This is sorta a game warning thread for those who want to buy a modern game

One of my family member mentioned a modern game I think it is for the PlayStation 4 that took him over 12 hours on a fast DSL connection before playing it even though he had the disc,

I know not all games are that big and are fun regardless but read what I said below I edited this topic title after seether's post

I was really venting so beware
