It's a pretty impressive game list. Yeah I'll try to get a preorder.
-
I’m definitely going to try. I’ve never been successful with these preorders though. Nice to see the Supergrafx, CD and SCD games on the list!
-
Interested in it but I also kindof want a Genesis mini! Only thing with this is I know almost nothing about the TG-16's library xD
-
i am genuinely excited about this! It essentially has all the TG16 and PC Engine CD games I've really ever gave a crap about and conveniently puts them in a single platform. the only thing I really hope they do is do a translation of Snatcher. If they did this thing would probably triple in demand, at least.
-
Super excited for the release - will be buying a TurboGrafx-16 Mini. Great games included as well. Also hoping for a translated Snatcher!

Absolutely. Getting both most likely even though I have a lot of these physically already. ;D

There's a good mix of genres here on both systems. I'd say the only thing lacking is RPGs for the TG16. Neutopia is straight up a Zelda clone and I would have liked it if Ys Book I&II were on the TG16 side. Me personally I would have swapped out Pac-Land for J.J. & Jeff but I noticed there isn't any Namco for either system. I'm guessing Konami couldn't get Namco to play nice.
The only title on that list that raises an eyebrow is Cho Aniki. It's a decent shmup but it's out there. :o
-
I'm definitely getting one! The only blatant omission is Splatterhouse but I already own that on HuCard. It's great they are putting Rondo of Blood on the system as it's one of the best Castlevania games too.

Another Namco release. Someone on FB mentioned how The Legendary Axe was a huge omission. I'm thinking Keith Courage should have been on there by default. :P

I won't be getting one
Everything is made for HDMI plugs these days and I don't have a TV that has an HDMI plug currently

You can get an hdmi to composite converter. Not ideal but will do the job and for pretty cheap too

Impressive list indeed!
Overall pretty good lineup. Soldier Blade, Neutopias, Y's Book I & II, Ninja Spirit, Dungeon Explorer, R-Type. Great stuff ;D
Missing a few gems though, Gate of Thunder, Dragon Spirit, Both Legendary Axes, Splatterhouse, Violent Soldier, etc.
Maybe more will get announced, but I'm liking the list already. Probably won't get one though since I have most of the games already. but I'm glad they're making one since the TurboGrafx / PC Engine weren't popular at all back in the day. Plenty of people missed out on some of the better shooters (shmups) out there. I find the PC Engine / CD the king of shmups, they pretty much paved the way with so many great titles imo.

Impressive list indeed! I find the Japanese version superior with Rondo, Snatcher and Cho Aniki, but the US version has Lords of Thunder hmmmm.

I was under the impression that the Turbo Grafx 16 mini will have all of the games Turf listed, North American and Japanese games alike. That's what makes the package so appealing. From what I've read their are three versions of the system, a PC Engine mini, a Core Grafx mini and a Turbo Grafx 16 mini. The game lineup will be identical for all regions as well. I almost want the Pc Engine mini since I own a Pc Engine already and the Turbo version looks like it's nearly as big as an original system.

Oh is it? Damn, that's even more impressive ;D I thought it was gonna be like the whole Genesis / Mega Drive mini debacle with different region models with a different lineup of games to be released.
Please ignore my previous post if that's the case, heh :P That's a big win for us consumers, all regions in one.

thanks for the suggestion aliensstudios I will think about looking into that :)

Looking forward to picking this up and experiencing some PC Engine games for the first time. Always wanted to try the port of Splatterhouse, but I guess I'll have to wait for a mod. Would be stellar if they translated some of the PCE titles like Snatcher, but definitely not holding my breath.
-
Never played the TG-16 or any of its iterations. I've been curious about the games for a few years though. I love the SNES and Genesis systems. Would this be a good purchase for someone like me?
-
I'd get a japanese one for Rondo of Blood...
-
Im amazed buy their list of games I can't wait im in.
-
Just preordered the Turbografx-16 version.
If it delivers what it has being promissing, it may very easily be the best of these mini consoles to date!
-
I'm definitely interested. It's one of those consoles that slipped under my radar.
-
Seems the white PC Engine version is for Japan, the Core Grafx for Europe, and the Turbografx-16 for North America.
I preordered the Core Grafx version. Was considering the Turbografx-16 one but since it seems they're all identical as far as the games included, and since I live in Europe, I went for the most straightforward option.
Shame they didn't do a PC Engine Shuttle version, would have totally gotten that :)
-
I'd get a japanese one for Rondo of Blood...
Actually, both the Japanese and North American consoles will include all the 50 games announced, so you are free choose whatever version suits your personal taste better.
-
Did anyone get one preordered? It never showed available on my amazon

Preorders still have not gone live yet. The page went up last night, but nothing has happened with it yet. I checked a few sources that seem to confirm this. Supposedly the preorders will go live at some point today, but it's anyone's guess what time. I'm checking every 20 minutes or so.

I’ve been trying...
They still have it on Amazon Japan as of now, but my account login doesn’t work for that site.
It finally popped up in the US list and it says unavailable.
Was worth a try I guess. I signed up for the waiting list.
The only online preorder I’ve ever been successful with was the gun grey Metal Gear PS3.

It's unavailable because it hasn't gone live yet with preorders. It should open up sometime today.

Just a clarification per the announcement (https://www.konami.com/games/pcemini/us/en/ (https://www.konami.com/games/pcemini/us/en/)) - You are not getting both versions of these games, in case that is what anyone is thinking. It will only come with the Japanese version of the PC Engine games, so unless you are fluent in Japanese, that makes stuff like Snatcher pointless.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are patches or updates at a later time, but right now that's what Konami is saying.
-
I had no interest in other mini consoles, mainly because I already owned the games on them that I wanted, in some cases multiple times over.
This one, I’m excited for.
Never owned a TG16 so it would be a fresh experience. REALLY hoping for some kind of translation for Snatcher.
-
For those interested (TG-16 was my first ever console, so the nostalgia alone made this a must for me), the PC Engine Mini variant differs from the CoreGrafx and TG-16 Minis in two important ways:
1) It comes with Tokemeki Memorial (a Japanese language dating sim) INSTEAD of Salamander
2) The controller it comes with does not have the turbo switches, but you can buy additional controllers that come with them.

And mine is ordered. I’ve never played any TG-16. I have a console (thanks to soera), but I haven’t ever found a game! I’m pumped for this one!
-
Got mine ordered!!
Really looking forward to this.
-
I got one pre-ordered! I'm really excited; it feels like a part of gaming history that I completely missed.

That’s what I’m thinking! I missed out on a Turbo completely. It’s time to play new/retro games!

Ahh I want oneee but $100 :'(

It's genuinely nice to see so many people excited for the Turbo and how this will be their first chance to play a lot of these games. A part of me has to wonder if no one bought and/or remembered there being an extensive library of TG/PCE games on the Wii's Virtual Console? I'd like to think that those games being on there helped pave the way for this unit's release. If not, it's still nice to see that 30 years later, the system has some relevance to it and hasn't been consigned to the gaming abyss.
One mild concern I personally have as someone still looking for original software is the hope that this unit's release doesn't make already sky high prices even higher. Outside of lottery winnings, some games are already well out of reach like US Magical Chase and Dynastic Hero but I still hold out hope I can find Blazing Lasers for a decent price. ;)
-
The games on the mini might drop in price due to people not wanting the extra copy.
I hear you on the increase of others though. Might spark some popularity.
-
Do we know if the NES/SNES classic changed the prices on any games at all?
-
Has anyone heard about extra controllers / turbo taps being available after it comes out? All I can find is the white ones from HORI. I hope someone comes up with an adapter to use original controllers. Also, any word on controller cable length? The originals were pretty short.
-
Do we know if the NES/SNES classic changed the prices on any games at all?
It’s hard to tell if the Classics caused it, but most of the games on these classic systems have been trending down slightly.

I think this has less to do with the Classic Mini consoles and more to do with people moving away from NES and SNES. Those consoles peaked back in 2016 and since then have been slowly trending downward overall.

well actually the nes and snes mini had a huge impact on especially casual players who wanted to relive some memories by playing mario bros etc on an original console.
many retro stores could sell lose consoles and lose carts of mario bros etc for insane prices since there where little options and the average guy for nostalgia does not have the knowledge of emulation. prices where even more insane in certain european countries where these consoles where hardly available.
When the nes and snes mini came out those stores had lots of trouble since all those casual people bought a classic console.
In terms of real collectors less impact but the casuals for the nostalgia the people who bought the hyped common games for insane prices where no more. classic consoles where good enough for them
Not worth the effiort to spend allot and to bother getting an old tv or lesser image quality. one of the bigger retro stores in my country mentioned this before closing down and many of their competitors at the countries where supply was very hard to keep in stock and people paid insane money for very common games. when classic consoles got nice supply these stores profits dropped by allot very few stores staid open since it's not that profitable anymore.
This was for europe but I am sure also in the USA something like this has happened to the casual people who just wanted to play some games from back in the day wich are the crowds who buy the games for (way) above ebay value.
cib was less effected by classic consoles since it was not only purchased for gameplay only and supply is very mediocre.
also the release date of the nes mini was 2016 and sales for those stores for the popular games went downhill after that. that the peak was at 2016 was no coincidence. classic consoles had quite an impact on even the bigger retro stores since so many customers left when supply got better in 2017. lose carts and consoles are the main potatoes for most retro stores. cib just a fraction. not that much stuff out there to keep the lights on for most.
I'm not to sure if the turbografx mini will have any impact on the collectors market since very few people played turbografx games back in the day. 99% serious collectors who are intereste few people for nostalgia and supply is very bad. no comparison to the market of nintendo wich was pricy even when supply is pretty nice for especially common good stuff.

The PC Engine mini just got even more games. It had 50 titles before (45 unique), and now it has 57-58 titles (52-53 unique; ROW vs Japan).
The newly announced, and final games are all Japanese versions, with NA/EU getting an English version of Splatterhouse instead. The JP edition also gets an additional title not found in the other regions’ Mini, Tengai Makyou II: Manji Maru.
- Dragon Spirit
- Galaga ’88
- The Genji and the Heike Clans
- The Legend of Valkyrie
- Seirei Senshi Spriggan
- Splatterhouse
- Spriggan Mark 2
- Tengai Makyou II: Manji Maru (JP PCE Mini only)
Oh, and buried in that presser? Konami officially revealed M2 will handle emulation duties.
My opinion? This (all games, not just the new ones above) is the most impressive of all the modern emulator boxes, and I’m even more excited now than I was before this latest news. (https://www.konami.com/games/eu/en/topics/15224/[/url)

I was concerned about the lack of Namco games but it looks as though they were all like "HOL'UP". Good to see Splatterhouse get included. And Spriggan! ;D
One game I thought would have been a slam dunk at release for the PCE version was a Tengai Makyo entry. Looks like Konami/Hudson rectified that; though I have to wonder if they're going to catch hell with the Politically Correct crowd since the "Manji" part of that title is essentially a reverse-swastika. :P
One day I'd like to think we'll get a proper Tengai Makyo release outside of Japan. ;)

Does anyone know where the Japanese PC Engine version could be preordered? I'm not interested in the TG-16 version as it's larger than my actual PC Engine console.
-
They added Splatterhouse, awesome! That was my only real disappointment so far resolved.

At Amazon Japan they have all the three versions being sold by the same price (¥11,550):

https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B07QD9GQ9J/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_keGtDbZMHCW4M
You can even buy a set that includes all the versions (¥34,650):
https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B07V63X3C9/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_BhGtDb4BMXV9N
I'm not sure if they would deliver it abroad though...

Same here. I was super-stoked about it.

You bet your precious little behind I’m getting it, especially considering, just like with the Sega Genesis, I never owned one.
