Gen 2: Kaboom! (Atari 2600)
Gen 3: Final Fantasy (NES)
Gen 4: Bonk's Revenge (Turbografx-16)
Gen 5: Final Fantasy IX (PlayStation)
Gen 6: We Love Katamari (PlayStation 2)
Gen 7: Opoona (Wii)
Gen 8: Nier: Automata (PlayStation 4)

Start with the Wii. Games are still fairly cheap and available.

Agreed. On that note, the system itself is cheap and also allows you to play GameCube titles, though some of those are getting to become pricey.

As far as recommending titles, it's hard to suggest since your current catalog for this site is limited. However, you can't go wrong with first-party Nintendo titles, such as Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, Super Smash Bros., etc.

Modern Video Games / Re: Animal Crossing switch
« on: April 15, 2020, 02:49:56 am »
buy a new switch console  ;D

one island has been an animal crossing staple since the very beginning

Ds wii 3ds gamecube.

And on the gamecube you could have multiple islands but that's only because gamecube used memory cards. so one island per memory card
Pretty sure on DS and 3DS you just needed a second copy of the game. Not sure how it worked on Wii.

To my understanding, City Folk functions the same as New Horizons in terms of multiple play files. If two people want their own separate town but only have one Wii, they'll need to purchase a second console. City Folk's save data is stored directly on the system; its data can't be saved to SD cards either.

I can't speak on behalf of Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior, but I have played and beaten most of the mainline Final Fantasy titles outside of the series's MMO releases.

1. Final Fantasy IX
2. Final Fantasy IV
3. Final Fantasy VI
4. Final Fantasy
5. Final Fantasy XV
6. Final Fantasy XII
7. Final Fantasy X
8. Final Fantasy VIII
9. Final Fantasy III
10. Final Fantasy XIII

I have not played II, V, or VII. XI and XIV are MMO releases.

A common opinion among Final Fantasy fans is to overly dislike XIII. While it's on the bottom of my preferred list, that's not to say I didn't enjoy it.

Personally speaking, the current count/total count isn't a feature that I think is needed even if it were successfully implemented. I don't collect for a system to collect its entire catalog. I know several do, but I know that many do not. And for the ones that do, it doesn't seem like much effort on their part to research what the official release count is and to later on have some idea of how their efforts are coming along. I agree with emperordragon that the Wish List's function acts to solve your problem.

As for your suggestion to a rarity feature, it doesn't seem useful while also sounding like a lot of upkeep in addition to its subjective nature. How do you determine how scarce an item is, unless the item is known for a specific number known to exist? Value doesn't equate to rarity, whereas prices fluctuate regularly. Is Earthbound expensive? Of course. Is it hard to find? Not at all.

I've actually added several items recently which is pretty unusual for me. From Limited Run Games, I've finally received Knights and Bikes (PS4) and Wandersong (Switch.) From Super Rare Games, I also added Gris (Switch.) I also ordered Coffee Talk (PS4) from Play-Asia. I even won an eBay auctions for Clock Tower (PS) that I splurged for and the not-so-common and newly-sealed Chulip keychain that was bundled with the game at its release. I actually ended up buying both the game and keychain for cheaper than the game originally retailed for, which is surprising since its value has skyrocketed in recent years. Lastly, in preparation for Animal Crossing New Horizons, my girlfriend and I picked up two copies of the game, the special edition console variant, and the AC:NH Switch carrying case.

Quite a busy month for the collection!

My personal highlight of the tour was seeing your Namco Guncon games complete-in-box. Very, very cool.

I actually was just editing an existing item listing not even five minutes ago and had the same thought.

I took it upon myself to update all three entries with as much information that I could find online.

Splatoon 2, for sure. I've put in several hundreds of hours, and it always stays fresh.
