Anyone use the Hori N64 controller? I've always heard from the few people who have used these that they are the best N64 controller ever. They are made by Hori, so I would tend to believe it.

... I actually might seek that out. It looks so much more comfortable. Though the tiny Start button looks like it could be a slight problem.

It does look like it would be very comfortable for most 64 games.  The only game I could see being a problem for me, is mortal kombat trilogy just because of the d pad being so close to the move buttons

To me in my opnion, there is nothing wrong with caps on a title of a forum because its the title.  Book titles are caps. When I read Yahoo articles they are caps, online newspaper headlines are caps, etc.  Thats how I view the forum.  Its readible to me and i dont know what syntaxed means,   But if it makes everyone else happy then I will just do everything on this site the way everyone else wants it done.  First it was "you cant type in caps on a forum"  Now I cant even type the headline in caps.  A HeadLine???  But I get it.

P.s.  To me, it is vocalization.  I'm excited about an idea for a post, and I type my heads in caps due to my excitement and for the fact its a headline.  Maybe I get more excited than I should because of all these rules.
Once in a while? Okay.

EVERY SINGLE TIME? You're pushing it.

Please stop writing thread titles in uppercase.

okay mom.  I'll think about it.  But while you mentioned it, what else would you like me to do????   Should I wash my school clothes the night before school or the morning of school???  Should I do the speed limit or go over or under the speed limit???  Should I not drink nor do drugs????

I mean, what are we going to do mom???   I was reading this paper today and guess what, the title was all capital letters!!!!!  OH MY GOSH MOM!!!!!  LETS CALL THE publisher AND COMPLAIN BECAUSE WE HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DO BUT COMPLAIN!!!!   I was reading this post online today mom, and you will not believe this!!  the TYPED A TITLE IN CAPS!!!  I could not believe it.  How can we make a big deal out of nothing mom????  Let s just harass everones threads for spelling, grammar, punctuation and if they typed in English and in caps or small letters.   Mom, I would think they would want more people on this site, but it seems they want to run people off for bull shit.

Some were handed out, but not all. From what I remember, there were 25-30 stations set up, each with a copy of the game. Not sure how many we're actually handed out, but I'm sure it wasn't all of them. The competition was held in cities all over the place, so I've never been able to determine how many we're actually manufactured, but I'd guess 100-200.

Thanks for the information.  Kind of reminds me of that movie "the wizard".  where the guy played in a nintendo contest or something like it

Also, I agree, all of these caps-lock posts are a bit much. Unlike some of the other staff members who opt for turning a blind eye to poorly syntaxed posts, I however feel that it's a rule that should be enforced. A legible forum is a happy forum. ;D Please don't make posts in all caps unless it something that you're saying in a sentence that NEEDS vocalization. (Like that one!) Patrick, you have a good idea for threads, just please use proper syntax from now on.

I Honestly had no intention of buying any of the next gen consoles, however if SEGA were to announce a new console they would have my money on release day. What I really want from them (even though I know it will NEVER happen) is for them to announce a brand new 16-bit console with network connectivity. It would be awesome to see developers coming out with original stuff in 16-bit cartridge format. I can dream right!?

Why settle for 16-bit? Why not make a 32-bit 2D powerhouse like the Saturn?

If anyone has the know-how, there always is Kickstarter.

16 or 32 bit???  Sega may could come out with a ps3 type of graphics system???

As a lefty, I personally found the N64 controller to be extremely uncomfortable. Mainly because of the control stick. That thing was rough on my thumbs and wore out quickly. I did like the Z button, though.

My favorite controller has always been the one for the Gamecube (not sure if that counts as retro, though.) It's so comfortable and takes forever to wear out. The Dreamcast controller also had some interesting features.

lol.  I'm a lefty and I loved the n64 controller!  ;) I think I liked it because of games like Hexen, Duke Nukem and GoldenEye, it really benefited me, but that Z button was the shit!!!  And the Gamecube was weird but cool to me I guess.  I remember only playing a few games on gamecube the wind waker and paper mario

Actually, the third part of the NWC was to get 4 Tetrises (clear 4 lines at once). I actually took part in the competition as a kid, but I didn't make it past the first round.

Bad ass!!  At least you participated in the competition.  Do you remember how they distributed the cartridges???  Was it to everyone in the tournament or just the winners???

Yep its good on both. They arent cheap to find however.

Cool.  I got to get me one.  I find quite a bit nes controllers at good will so Hopefully ill find one there.  Thanks for that info and refreshing my memory.  I forgot all about that.   I do have the NES Advantage controller and it works  okay.  Its best for me for games like Dragon Warrior but not for adventures like Zelda.

MM Legends 1 is decent priced. http://videogames.pricecharting.com/game/playstation/mega-man-legends
MM Legends 2 is always twice that : http://videogames.pricecharting.com/game/playstation/mega-man-legends-2
Tron Bonne is even more! http://videogames.pricecharting.com/game/playstation/the-misadventures-of-tron-bonne

As far as the original topic, I will name some of my favorite controllers :

Playstation official - Sony started out with a fantastic controller on the PS1. They eventually added digital thumb pads on the PSOne. It was such a great design that it made it to the PS2 and the PS3. Hopefully they dont break the mold like expected on the PS4.

Dogbone - While the NES brick is okay, its sharp edges get annoying after hours of continuous game play. With the top loader, they fixed the issue and released one of the most awesome controllers ever made. Simple, comfortable ... just great.

SNES original - Everything the Dogbone was got improved when the SNES was released.

Micro con (Mad Katz) - During the 6th gen, these controllers came out and really appealed to people with a smaller hand size. It allowed people like myself to comfortably play the Xbox.

Oh yea!  I forgot the playstation 1 had a regular controller without the 2 analogs.  Those were bad ass controllers for that time.  And when you say dog bone, are you referring to the top loading nes????  I never really a nes top loader that much so I'm not sure

A thread flood? Should we be concerned and ask Noah to start building that boat then?

Does this mean its okay for me to make posts????

*  Another topic for a moment, I just noticed today that Mega Man Legends 2 on Playstation 1 is selling for over 90.00.  Does anyone know why????

time to get skooled 8) by the elders lol. what games or what in general came on the Nintendo World Championships carts? I know I could look this stuff up but rather get straight answers from this community. actually while we are here what came on the 6 in 1 carts? like 6 mini games or 6 good size games. or what about the newer 81 in 1 carts? I mean is there like a menu that comes up on your nes asking which game you want to play? or what? thanks for the info as always ;D

Unfortunately I am not an elder but hopefully I am still knowledgeable  :D

  The Nintendo world Championship cart I believe came with (Super Mario Bros., Tetris and Rad RAcer) Per the Caltron 6 in 1 that was

* Adam and Eve

* Magic Carpet 1001

*  Cosmos Cop

* Porter

*  Balloon Party

*  Bookyman

You picked from a menu

There was another company called Myriad who had their own 6 in 1 but Im not sure what the games were.
