I'm having a bit of trouble trying to find a completed list of ps1 rpg's. I have found multiple sites but some of them contradict one another.

Saiyuki: Journey West,
King's Field 1 & 2,
Shadow Tower,
Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment,
Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen,
Kartia,
Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth,
Legend of Legaia
Can't think of anything else that hasn't been listed yet.
Also, are you talking about "complete" PSX RPG's, NA PSX RPG's and/or PAL PSX RPG's?
-
Thanks. I know digimon world 1,2,3 are technically RPGs. Would Deception 1,2,3 be considered RPGs as well since they have the same play style as Kings field?

Hah!
I was just having the same thought/idea :)
Anyhow - while I *KNOW* that I'm simply stating the obvious here...
Chrono Trigger...
(I remember already seeing Chrono Cross listed)...BUT...No Chrono Trigger :o

Ah, but Chrono Trigger was not PS1 in NA :)

Ah, but it *WAS* :)
(Included on one of the FF collections)
;)
-
PS1 NA
"Final Fantasy Chronicles", to be exact :)
-
Azure Dreams!
Brave Fencer Musashi!
Elemental Gearbolt!
-
PS1 NA
"Final Fantasy Chronicles", to be exact :)
;D exactly. so we can't really call it chrono trigger on its own, ay? FF Chronicles was already listed above :)

Hmm...That's true :)
But - there's also an argument to be made that Chrono Trigger *could* still fit the criteria for being on a list of "NA RPG's that can be played on the PSX"; no?!
;)
-
Thats why I didnt list it ... cause its part of one of the compliations I mentioned.
Elemental Gearbolt is a shooter.
I considered adding Brave Fencer but chose against it cause I think its more of an action/adventure game.

Oh, I know - you're totally right!
*BUT*, I listed it separately since there's a good chance that those that aren't as familiar w/ PSX games as we are...could easily assume that a FF-compilation may just have 2 FF games on it...

Very true. :)

So...we both *"WIN"* :D

Elemental Gearbolt is a shooter you gain experience and level up in, imo it's part RPG

I would consider it in an rpg based on those elements.

Sounds kinda along the same lines as Borderlands? I don't know anything about Elemental Gearbolt though, so maybe I'm wrong. But if it is, Borderlands is considered an "FPS RPG".

Kind of, what I remember is that at the end of each level there is a boss. After defeating the boss the game awards you points or experience (your choice) based on your performance, going up in level increases your damage and health, allowing you to get further into the game. There are combos and chalices that can award more points or experience, and a level cap of 16. I remember the attacks being Fire, Lightening and Water.

Look at those scores... underrated? Yup!

The sight of "fps rpg" makes me want to puke a little. :(

I agree, I really like Borderlands and can't wait until Borderlands 2 comes out. Fallout 3 and New Vegas are also "FPS RPGs", though thanks to VATS you don't have to actually play it FPS style. But other than those two series, I doubt I'd go out and buy every clone that comes out, as I prefer JRPGs anyway.
