Title: Listing Errors 2016
Post by: badATchaos on December 31, 2015, 10:51:41 pm
Report any issues with any listings here.  See something that doesn't belong?  Incorrect images, or images with watermarks?  The staff will look into any reports and fix them. Please provide links if possible.

Logitech NASCAR Racing Wheel - PS2 [NA]
http://vgcollect.com/item/86280 <- this belongs in the PlayStation 2 Accessory category

Also, I have a question about interactive movie DVD's such as "Dragon's Lair" and "Space Ace". Because they can be played on any console/PC with a DVD player, is it proper to add them to a specific system's game category? I wondered about this when I ran across "Hologram Time Traveler - PS2 [NA]" http://vgcollect.com/item/43887. It says on the package "PlayStation 2 Compatible", but if it doesn't belong with the PS2 games, then to which existing category does it belong? This could be a "grey" area, but if possible, I would appreciate a ruling.

Furthermore, I think you folks are doing a terrific job. You've got a difficult task, and I don't envy you. Like trying to herd cats, as the old saying goes.

I moved the item from PS2 [NA] to Other with the rest of the DVD games.  This game is kind of a weird case since it has "PS2 Compatible" on the cover, but I would still consider it an interactive DVD.

http://vgcollect.com/item/85621 - this one has a stock photo with PEGI 18 and would be a dupe had 20215 not been a mixed up entry.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Battle vs. Chess

Binary Domain - Limited Edition (different barcode)

ALSO: the title will need to change at some point, but more research is required to determine which edition is which.

I'm trying to clear up the listings for Chrono Cross to differentiate versions of the Greatest-Hits release. I think there were two versions of the Greatest-Hits game released by Square-Enix; one with silver-bottom discs, which was through online stores, and the other which had the standard black-bottomed discs.

I made a listing for the silver discs, but they both have the same disc image.

^^ This is the silver-bottomed variant; you can tell from the clear middle of the disc. Below are the black-bottomed discs

I'm trying to change the disc pictures for the black-bottomed listing so it has the correct image, but it was rejected. I'm going to reformat my image so it looks better and then I'll resubmit it; I just wanted to let the mods know what I was doing :)

NOTE: The same happened with the re-releases of Final Fantasy IX. That game has all the correct listings, but they need images. I'll send those in soon too.

Normal Listing: http://vgcollect.com/item/15224
Silver-bottom listing: http://vgcollect.com/item/95650

This is a case of having more information than the database current can account for. I do not think it is (currently) a good idea to add this kind of variation. Rather, you can put in the description that the actual discs may be of x types, and then when you add the item into your collection, use the Notes portion to put which one you have.

This is my opinion.
Title: Re: Listing Errors 2016
Post by: telly on January 19, 2016, 10:14:58 am
I respectfully disagree. We have three variations of the color of the label for Dragon Warrior on the NES, and two variants of Super Mario Bros. 3 just for the placement of "bros" on the cartridge. We also have 5 and 3 screw cart variants for every applicable NES game too. Not to mention the many different listings of Atari games that are in the database (sometimes 4 variants for a single game).

Why would this variant not be acceptable for listing? We already have entries just like this for FF IX in the database; keep in mind that this is not only a simple variation, but an entirely different release of the game.

That's just my opinion, the mods are free to delete my entry if they would like to. :)

I don't really know if that the right place to post that but in a way it's an error in the name of a game so... i was checking my PS2 collection one last time (to complete some empty field) before going to another platform but i couldn't find my "Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary" with my others Lara Croft Tomb Raider (i call them that way since it's the way it's written on the case), i finally found it under the name "Tomb Raider: Anniversary" and seen that the name have been edited to erase the "Lara Croft" of the title. In fact almost every Lara Croft Tomb Raider games have been edited in the same way. I thought we had to put the name as it is written on the case, that's not the way it is anymore ? Do i have to make an edit for the others "Lara Croft Tomb Raider" games that i have too ? I don't really understand, i know it's the more common title used by people for that game but shouldn't we put it in the "Alt-Name" Field and not directly in the title as it is explained in the style guide ?

In the end i really don't mind both names but i just want to know under what name they have to be put in the database now and if other games will have the same treatment (like those with a name before the title : Frank Herbert's Dune, Peter Jackson's King Kong, etc...).

Tomb Raider: Anniversary should be Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary. It says so on the spine, and in the copyright info block on the back. I looked at the Xbox 360 cover scan for confirmation.

Sent in these edits again for Chrono Cross

For FFIX, edited both the SE releases to designate between the black and silver bottomed discs. I added images for the different discs, and adjusted the names to make them both "Final Fantasy IX - Greatest Hits, Square-Enix Release (Black or Silver Bottoms)"

I also edited the Squaresoft release to include that same information in the title like I did with Chrono Cross - "Final Fantasy IX - Greatest Hits, Squaresoft Release"

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions! It is very confusing  :-[

Not sure where to ask about rejected edits, so here goes:

I've recently been updating a lot of Xbox Live digital games, as many of them are using the incorrect images (using the retail box images with the ESRB ratings, etc.) as opposed to the ones from the Xbox site/console interface:

For instance, using the first image here instead of the correct second image for the digital XBox Live title:
Incorrect
(http://vgcollect.com/images/front-box-art/24494.jpg)Correct
(http://vgcollect.com/images/front-box-art/94339.jpg)

While making many of these updates, I've gone ahead and added a bunch of other official info as well. In this process I have had a handful of my Box Text edits rejected. Sometimes they are approved, and other times they are rejected with no consistency. Considering I am following the instructions in the style guide, (http://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,22.0.html) I would assume these would all be approved.

Quote
Digital games lack a traditional box, and so they also lack box text. In this case, we can use the description text from the source as the box text. For example, if I were to add The Simpson's Arcade Game to the database, the box text would be the summary that is listed on Xbox.com.

So for the Box Text field I have been copying the summary from the game overview at http://marketplace.xbox.com/ which is the same as the summaries on the actual user interface on the XBox 360 console as well. However, these were rejected today even though I followed those instructions:

Hitman Absolution: http://vgcollect.com/item/58034
Dead Space: http://vgcollect.com/item/72669
Dishonored: http://vgcollect.com/item/63595
DMC HD Collection: http://vgcollect.com/item/94339
Battlefield Bad Company 2: http://vgcollect.com/item/69264
Alan Wake: http://vgcollect.com/item/49020
Metro Last Light: http://vgcollect.com/item/88012
LEGO LOTR: http://vgcollect.com/item/90070
Mafia II: http://vgcollect.com/item/83036
Mirror's Edge: http://vgcollect.com/item/62201
Burnout Paradise: http://vgcollect.com/item/72755

Any idea why these are being rejected? At first I assumed this sort of info fits under description as opposed to box text, since digital games have no box, but according to the style guide, they do indeed go in box text, exactly as I'm submitting them.

Not sure where to ask about rejected edits, so here goes:

Hm, looks like the image edit went through (no ESRB rating in the corner any more) for DMC HD, and it sounds like the box text that you're adding from overview should be fine.  I've done similar things for eShop items, and they've been ok. Hopefully one of the admins can look into it and let you know!

Yeah all the other edits were approved (anything from image, to genre, release date, etc.), but the Box Text fields are being rejected the majority of the time (they are approved maybe 10% of the time). No idea why though.

Yeah all the other edits were approved (anything from image, to genre, release date, etc.), but the Box Text fields are being rejected the majority of the time (they are approved maybe 10% of the time). No idea why though.

Were you  maybe including the extraneous stuff about online content or anything? sometimes those things are lumped in with the overview text.

Not sure why they would have been rejected either.  It's possible that an admin may have accidentally thought you were editing the description field rather than the box text field.  This is a common mistake people make when editing digital entries on the site.  If you resubmit the edits they should be accepted this time.  I apologize for the inconvenience.

I've been editing games from the PS2 EU category for weeks now and everything was going fine until yesterday when i've tried to edit the french version of Summoner 2 (http://vgcollect.com/item/68580), almost all the edits got accepted but one didn't, the box text field was rejected (reason : "Action Not Allowed"), i don't really understand why ? All box text i've edited until now was accepted without any problem (even when i do an error and put it in the description field...  :-[) but this one was rejected, is there a specific reason ? is this because it's a non-english version (the style guide doesn't say anything about it) ?

And i've found an error in the Vectrex Eu section, Star Trek: The Motion Picture (http://vgcollect.com/item/84503) have not been released in Europe under that name, it's been released as Star Ship (http://vgcollect.com/item/45399) who is already in database too (some problems with the Star Trek name i guess, same thing happened in japan where it's been released as Harmagedon).

Weird, with that first one, it looks like they tried to copy the original item's title to make a new record and ended up including the "Missing or bad data? Edit this Item Missing or bad data?  Edit this Item" part. So they must've found the original item but didn't know how to add it to their record (and instead submitted a  new one with the wrong title).

The second and forth item... is that a weird repro?   ??? ??? ???

They're boots. Another reason why it would be nice to get unofficial released game into their own separate category that is not tied to a country. Also similar to how Demos are their own category.

So I did an edit and it was rejected, so I have a question.

Where, anywhere, is Grand Theft Auto San Andreas for 360 referred to, officially, as Grand Theft Auto San Andreas HD.  Nowhere on Xbox.com do I see HD on the cover art or title information.  The letters H and D do not reside next to each other at all on the description page for the game.

I think this is one of those situations where the "Alternative" name is being placed as the "Official" name.

It looks like the original version was called "Xbox Originals" and that was removed, and later replaced with a version that supported 720p resolution among other things.

HD version does not equate "[Title] HD".  Even that site itself refers to it as just "[Title]" on the left side of the page.

Should I go modify the PS4 entry for the GTA titles as [Title] HD?  I mean, either we go by the official name or we don't.  The official title for the 360 port of GTA San Andreas is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.  Even the iOS version (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/grand-theft-auto-san-andreas/id763692274?mt=8&v0=WWW-NAUS-ITSTOP100-PAIDAPPS&l=en&ign-mpt=uo%3D4 (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/grand-theft-auto-san-andreas/id763692274?mt=8&v0=WWW-NAUS-ITSTOP100-PAIDAPPS&l=en&ign-mpt=uo%3D4)) doesn't say HD, but the 360 game is a direct port of that game.

Well the original version "Xbox Originals" seems to indicate that was used in its name officially, or as a category on their site. So the "SD" version should have that notation. And the "HD" version should not have HD in the name, but in the description note it was the version that supports 720p. I suppose it may also be helpful to find out what resolution the original one used and have that value in its description for comparison purposes.

I'm not entirely certain of what you are saying, but I see no issue with them both having the exact same name "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas".  Just like for Xbox 360 there should be 2 titles with "Need for Speed: Most Wanted"  Because there are 2 games with the exact same name.

And if you are going to nit-pick about the "A Criterion Game" which should also not be there.  Why don't all of the Metal Gear Solid games say "- Tactical Espionage Action" or "A Hideo Kojima Game"?  It's on the case, it's in the title.

I'm still cleaning the PS2 EU category and i've stumble across four Ape Escape 2, i let you know what i've done with those:

http://vgcollect.com/item/55996 (http://vgcollect.com/item/55996) -> Have an ELSPA rated cover but the data say it's a PEGI rated game (and we already have the ELSPA version just below) so i've made an edit with the right covers and the data.
--------------------------

http://vgcollect.com/item/55999 (http://vgcollect.com/item/55999) -> The ELSPA rated game with the ELSPA cover (also have the suffix in the name), so everything good, made an edit the backcover, disc and data.
--------------------------

http://vgcollect.com/item/55998 (http://vgcollect.com/item/55998) -> this one have a USK rated cover (with the right suffix), made an edit with the data and the back cover (if i remember correctly i've made an edit for the front cover too, that edit can be rejected or accepted it won't change anything since it's the USK cover too, it's just an error from my side).

--------------------------

http://vgcollect.com/item/55997 (http://vgcollect.com/item/55997) -> that one have a VET/SFB Rating suffix (i didn't know that rating system, apparently it's the Finnish and Swedish one), but the cover isn't the right one (also have an ELSPA rated cover), so i've search for the right one,  finally found it (http://img.tradera.net/images/185/222627185_c3520bf7-d48d-4690-aba4-8973b0124c61.jpg) (pretty hard to find games with that rating) and made an edit (if an admin can also erase that ELSPA rating from the data i will be thankful).

--------------------------

And one other thing i'm wondering about, i didn't touch any of the name but shouldn't we have to change suffix like (USK Rating) and (ELSPA Rating) by [DE] and [UK] (or maybe [EN] ?) since they are only used respectively in Germany and United Kingdom ?

Not sure why it would have been rejected.  There is no rule against having non-English box text.  In fact I have even submitted non-English box text myself before.  If you resubmit the edit it should be accepted.

It was probably just an error (Admins are humans too ;)), i've made a few other edit for french box text and they have all been accepted, i will re-edit that Summoner 2 once i've finished moving (don't know in what box i've put it, it will be fun to finally have the space to sort everything  8)).

I've been using [UK] suffix for games that had a UK specific release. As I've found in early computer game releases, there was a general European release in English and then a UK specific one. [EN] should not be used to designate England. All the country suffix we use match TLD country codes. EDIT: the exception is [AS] for general Asian releases.

Thanks for the answer, i was wondering about it since i've seen a few games with [EN] or [Other languages suffix/EN], i don't think the EN is for England but just to indicate that the game (and the back cover) is in the English language but i think exactly like you, the [UK] suffix is better for a specific UK release (and many game in the database already have that suffix), i will check the TLD list when i need a specific country suffix.

That's an interesting idea to put Web Browser into the accessory section. Not sure about that, let's see what others think.

I'm personally leaning towards keeping it in software. We do the same for the Nintendo DS Browser (http://vgcollect.com/item/48) and it's not really an attachment like the PS2 Network Adapter...

Yup, yet somehow the PS2 Network Adapter disc is in Accessories.

Also, Gameshark and Codebreaker are in accessories, should those stay in accessories?  Shouldn't they be software, but Unofficial?

Ah, I was just saying that the Network Adapter belongs in accessories imo.  Since the adapter is a piece that you attach, I see it as an accessory, much like a controller or a Gameboy Printer.  I'd say Gameshark would still be considered an accessory as it doesn't function as software without a game in it really, but I could be wrong.

But yeah, just my opinion: disc/cart-based browser app would still be software to me.

I was specifically referring to the disc.  The DVD.  I've got several of the DVDs in varying version numbers.

All of the varying cheat devices serve a purpose without a game on PS2, possibly on other platforms as well.  It allows you to watch DVDs from other regions, it allows you to transfer game saves from USB devices to memory cards.  It's a piece of software.

The N64 Gameshark, the PSX gameshark that plugs into the back, the handheld versions of cheat devices?  Yeah, definitely accessories.

Same thing might apply like the HD Advance, HD Loader, and USB Extreme for PS2, they are software that allows you to load games and apps from a hard drive.

Mind you, I'm in no way disagreeing with you, I'm more or less playing devil's advocate.  I don't recall what the PS2 Network adapter startup discs do.  If they provide any form of web browser, it should be treated like other web browsers.  But if it does what I think it does, and it just patches the internal system to allow the network adapter to work, it's just an accessory to the Network Adapter (which is an accessory)

Ah yeah, I gotcha :)  I have a brief memory of how the DS browser cartridge worked and have no idea how the Dreamcast one would operate.  All I remember about the PS2 Network Adapter was that it connected onto the PS2 (with screws, I think), and it had at least a port for you to plug in your telephone line.  Whether or not it had an additional disc, though... I don't think it did.

Mine came with a disc.  The later ps2 models (the slim ones) didn't need the external adapter because the ethernet port was built in, so those I don't believe required discs, but maybe they did.  Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly.  I think the Network Startup Disc would install the necessary network information to your memory card, so you needed the disc to go online regardless of method.

I'll take a look when I get home and take some pictures.

http://vgcollect.com/item/91874

I find a lot of info about it existing, including release dates:
    23rd Feb 2016, £13.49/€14.99 (UK/EU)
    23rd Feb 2016 (USA)
Also about how EU is digital only because they do not get the physical release like in the US. Does the eShop have an internet facing website to look these things up on? I don't have a 3DS.

There is a website, but it only lists the game itself.  What would be in the "special edition" for digital?  The Special editions that exist either come with a statue or a mega man amiibo and those are physical.

Everything I read, in regards to [NA], is that there is a standard physical release, collector's physical release, and a plain standard digital release.  No "special" edition.

1. You can submit an edit to change the platform.
2. Space Hulk on Vita exists but not Space Hulk: Ascension.
3. The GOT game does exist but not on NDS. The release date was added by Foxhack is for Episode 3 on PSN 3/4 or PC/OSX. I do not know whether it is supposed to be Episode 3. I will submit an edit to put it in PSN/3 category.
4. Regarding Guitar Hero on the DS, it exists but is called "On Tour". I will merge that entry with 4813.

The 3DS version releases Feb. 23rd, simulatenous Physical and Digital releases.  2 Physical versions, 1 Digital version.  No special edition available in digital format.

http://vgcollect.com/item/91913 <-- Standard physical, releases Feb 23.
http://vgcollect.com/item/91914 <-- Collector's Physical, releases Feb 23.

Taking a second look, I thought I saw a Digital listed on VGC for [NA], but there isn't.  So I submitted a change to list the "Special Edition" Nintendo eShop listing as the regular edition.

I’m confused. Since you admit that this title doesn’t exist and there is NO ownership, why have you left it in? I’m really curious to know. Yes, Space Hulk (Vita) was released in North America but only from the PlayStation Store. Did you want me to edit the name and platform for a game with empty data fields and no ownership? I don't like messing with digital downloads, and besides, I will never own one.

Directly from the Steam Style guide in regards to the Box Text form.
Quote
Box Text:
Enter the text displayed in the store page under "About This Game." You do not have to copy everything, since some descriptions are pretty huge - just a paragraph or two is enough.

What I edited the form to
Quote
In Voxelized, you gain a control of a character in a cubic world. At first you are alone, but that is about to change.
Build a House.
Build a Town.
Build a City.
Voxelized is heavily based on building, but as the players keeps suggesting their ideas and features, it will be changed in to something else.
The building feature is primary, but Voxelized will be alot more than just a building game.

Uh... That is a fake...  Cover art is fake, obviously they used the UPC from Metroid.

The cart has a fake label slapped on, it even says JPN on the product code.

It's not even a good fake, this is hands down the worst fake I've ever seen.  Not including homebrews.

Also, read the description, it says it is a fan translation loaded onto a mod chip (Are they still calling them that?)

That game is set for "unofficial" release as its type. That's fine! But I still wish that unofficial/bootleg/homebrew games do not appear in the same category as legit ones. Just like demos have their own separate place.

There are 36 results for "Watch Dogs" that should be renamed to "Watch_Dogs".

Additional question: If a game's standard edition is in a certain way a special edition, should that be stated in the title?

Example:

Watch_Dogs [PS4] has "60 minutes" of additional gameplay compared to releases on different platforms. But a) there is no regular PS4 edition w/o those "60 minutes" and b) the "Bonus Edition" addition to the title that can be seen in databases does not appear in the artwork on the box.

Should this entry be rather called "Watch_Dogs" (mentioning the bonus in the Description Box only) or "Watch_Dogs - Bonus Edition"?

edit: There seems to be a regular edition that I overlooked. Nvm.

Do we allow this stuff?  I can kind of get the Promo DVDs since they are video game related, and that could possibly be the line that will prevent people from uploading their DVD collections.  But marking the 2 pack as a PC game... nope.

I may or may not have been the one to reject this (I'm trying to recall), but I recall rejecting an edit earlier today because it was in the "description" field rather than the "box text" field.  Just in case that was the issue!
Didn't see this reply.  No, it was on the box text field.  Says so in my notifications.

I saw your new edit and approved it :) let me know if you run into another issue. There have been a loooot of edits submitted so human error can take its toll on the approvals/rejections :P

There are 36 results for "Watch Dogs" that should be renamed to "Watch_Dogs".

I know the box has the underline in between the words, but it looks like Ubisoft's official Twitter account and Facebook account has the title listed as "Watch Dogs" without all-caps and without the underline.  I'm going to lean more towards that way of standardizing the title.

I'm personally ok with people adding an alt title of WATCH_DOGS if they really want to, though not sure how the other admins feel.

The underscore is barely noticeable on the box. The game is Watch Dogs.

The underscore is a stylization.  Not the official title.

The first 3 have the PC Game as part of DVD-ROM content. It should work but maybe not exactly in the PC category. The Third Reich DVD I can't find many details as to what exactly it contains. If it contains a PC Game as well its fine. Double Feature should probably be moved into Promo DVD.

I got one rejected edit and one edited entry by mastafafik where he is referring to the VGCollect Style Guide, which I have read and I believe his interpretation of it is wrong.

So, I edited/created the following entries:

http://vgcollect.com/item/65629 (http://vgcollect.com/item/65629) Ghostbusters - Ricochet
http://vgcollect.com/item/98704 (http://vgcollect.com/item/98704) Hard Drivin' - The Hit Squad

Quite quickly after that they were renamed to:

http://vgcollect.com/item/65629 (http://vgcollect.com/item/65629) Ghostbusters (Ricochet)
http://vgcollect.com/item/98704 (http://vgcollect.com/item/98704) Hard Drivin' (The Hit Squad)

I believe this to be wrong. If checking the guidelines there are two chapters which could come into play here:

Games denoting Special Editions, Limited Editions, Box Sets and or Bundles: The Dash "-" is meant to show special releases, such as limited or collector's editions, greatest hits/ player's choice and any other special release or compliation. Of course, if a game is a special release with variations it would look something like this. Chrono Cross - Greatest Hits or Chrono Cross - Greatest Hits (Silver Backed Disc) Also, it's prolly a good idea to stay away from the word "with" and replace it with "bundle", since most of the time that's what all the game companies call them.

Bioshock - Platinum Hits <-- This is what my edits refer to
Castlevania - Classic NES Series <-- This is what my edits refer to
Devil May Cry - 5th Anniversary Collection
Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition
Fallout: New Vegas - Collector's Edition
Grand Theft Auto III -  Greatest Hits <-- This is what my edits refer to
Super Smash Bros. Melee - Player's Choice
    Warcraft III - Collector's Edition

Games with variants to Box Art, Cart Art or Discs: Parenthesis "( )" are used to denote variations. So if a NES game was released with both a 5 screw cart or a 3 screw cart, it would be listed something like Burgertime (3 Screw Cartridge) or Burgertime (5 Screw Cartridge), or if a game has variant cart or disc labeling, like a lot of Atari games... such as Adventure (Sears Picture Label) and Adventure (Sears Text Label). Of course Atari games can have up to 5 or so variations, which means a separate listing for each one.

    Paperboy (Oval Seal)
    Paperboy (Round Seal)
Super Mario Bros. 3 (Bros over Mario's Head)
Super Mario Bros. 3 (Bros on Mario's hand)
    Ridge Racer (Not For Resale)

The entries above are budget rereleases of games originally released earlier, just like in the example above where Grand Theft Auto III - Greatest Hits is a rerelease at a later time. Therefore I believe the titles should be changed back to:

http://vgcollect.com/item/65629 (http://vgcollect.com/item/65629) Ghostbusters - Ricochet
http://vgcollect.com/item/98704 (http://vgcollect.com/item/98704) Hard Drivin' - The Hit Squad
Title: Re: Listing Errors 2016
Post by: desocietas on February 26, 2016, 12:01:12 pm
I don't know anything about those games really, but is the variation due to the publisher of the game? The game itself is no different than the regular Ghostbusters game, I'm assuming...

Is the game itself also marked differently or just the outside packaging?

I was trying to clean up some Skylanders entries this morning and got a bunch rejected (I really wish there was a way you could see who performed the edit so they could be contacted directly). The rejects were in regards to some ratings and genres. The packages don't have ratings on them and I was looking at the style guide for that and saw this...

"If your item has no rating of any kind, choose "None". This applies to all consoles and systems." which is what I've done a bunch of times and the edits have gotten approved without incident. I can only assume the mod is citing this "If your item has no rating anywhere on the package, do not make one up so you can add it to its listing" which IMO isn't what I'm doing, I was following the former. I also had the same thing occur to the Game Gear game Putt & Putter which was released prior to any ESRB or VRC. Again, I've submitted edits of "NONE" for other games released before ratings were adopted and they've been approved in the past.

Also in regards to trying to add or change the genre for the Skylanders, some were blank/unfilled and others had "Adventure" listed. I'd contest that while the games themselves are "Adventure" games, the FIGURES themselves are not and given that there isn't a "NONE" choice, I've been selecting "Other" for them (which again have been getting approved without issue). I had put off cleaning up the rest of the Skylanders section for a while and was about to start that again but can I get a consensus of what the PTB want in the fields before I do?  ;)

You can submit an edit to add the full publisher name. It is in the title because it is a different packaging type than the regular EU/UK releases, which come in black, blue and white label.

It's an European PlayStation version of Final Fantasy V, well yes it's been released on that console but in Europe it's only been released with Final Fantasy IV in the European version of Final Fantasy Anthology (http://vgcollect.com/item/15229) (and on GBA too... but that's another story). Maybe someone only found the disc for FF5 and made that entry but it's not really hard to find where that disc came from since a "Final Fantasy Anthology" is also that disc, so... do we accept separate entry for compilations like this one ?

Well it seems that is only an entry for the soundtrack? And that it is a regular release CD rather than the soundtrack that was released in the Anthology. AND it would be a Japanese music CD?

To be honest i didn't even checked that cover, i thought it was just some random FF5 picture chosen to represent that item and to have a more 'good-looking" collection, too bad he didn't add any data when he created it so we know if it's really the disc from FF Anthology or a dupe of that soundtrack (http://vgcollect.com/item/65600).

Quick question about the little oddity on the PSP (NA) that is the "Hilton Garden Inn: Ultimate Team Play"
http://vgcollect.com/item/39756

I just had an edit rejected, in which I tried uploading a main Box Art image. The thing is, this game had no box, only a UMD and a PSP system were shipped to Hilton Garden Inns. Currently the Box Art is a logo for the hotel itself, not the "game" (training sim). To better represent the game, I exported a screenshot of the title screen from the game with the game title logo "HGI: Ultimate Team Play." However, this edit was rejected.

Title Screen:

Versus the current image which is a generic hotel chain logo:

In the past I've seen people say to use the title screen from in-game for any games that have no official box or box art representing it in any online marketplace. Yet in this case it was rejected, even though it seems the best case scenario for this UMD. Should I upload it again and hope for the best?

That is for digital released games. For this, since it is a loose pack-in item, it will have no front nor back box art. It would fall under the same rules as Nazo Puyo on the Game Gear:

Okay, works for me. The UMD image I uploaded was accepted. But since the Front Box Art image that is currently on there doesn't really work for what this is, I figured a more accurate image was better than one that is less related.

The PEGI-3 one doesn't appear to be correct. It could be one of those cases where a country's release gets a different PEGI rating, such as some games in Portugal get a PEGI-4.

I put the picture from 28525 onto 46169. Both games you put are in different categories. I think that 28525 has the wrong front artwork if it is a digital game, it should not have the physical package artwork. But I do not know how this shows up on PSN. It needs that image. If no one knows, we can remove the front image.

No, I'm saying that it should be deleted, because Suikoden II already exists as a PSone Classic.

If you wanna call it a dupe, then I'll do that in the future, but since it is listed as PSN (PSVita) it isn't a dupe but rather a listing error.

Because PSone Classics don't belong under PSN (Vita/PS3/PSP), they have their own category (PSone Classics).

I get ya. Its a dupe but one is in the wrong category. This happens a lot with other systems like SMS or Game Gear, where people will put EU games in the NA section.
So we can process this as a dupe. Please confirm that this is the correct item:

No, I'm saying that it should be deleted, because Suikoden II already exists as a PSone Classic.

If you wanna call it a dupe, then I'll do that in the future, but since it is listed as PSN (PSVita) it isn't a dupe but rather a listing error.

I get ya. Its a dupe but one is in the wrong category. This happens a lot with other systems like SMS or Game Gear, where people will put EU games in the NA section.
So we can process this as a dupe. Please confirm that this is the correct item:

Found this while adding my new (to me) Neo Geo Pocket Color to my collection:

http://vgcollect.com/item/77272 (http://vgcollect.com/item/77272)

It's listed under hardware, which is clearly wrong, but there's no category for the original Neo Geo Pocket, only the color- so I'm not 100%on how to fix it. (I'm not sure if I should be posting this here, in the category request thread, or both.)

I submitted a genre correction to Shovel Knight - PSN (Vita) (http://vgcollect.com/item/72992) this morning changing it to Action which was rejected. I got my information on the genre here:

Platformer seems correct.
Action is a generic term that platformer could fall under.
We can only put 1 genre on a game right now, which do you feel would be best to have?

Just a quick, probably trivial question.

For games that are bundled with amiibos, should the wording be "amiibo Bundle" or "Amiibo Bundle"? It seems like the official spelling is amiibo (all lower case) on Nintendo's site, but maybe we're just using title case and capitalizing it in the title.

haha maybe it doesn't matter  ;D

It should be used as it appears on the packaging. But I know we don't use all capitals for things that are in all caps. I think for Amibo it is ok to use lower case a.

I haven't played the game since I'm just adding it to my collection. :P I just usually go by the official details. I honestly don't care tho, was just curious - the lack of communication with rejects still bugs me.

Small thing I noticed:

Concerning the Mega Drive, in browse it's listed as just "Mega Drive" for all regions except for BR, where it is listed as "Sega Mega Drive." I feel like the names should be made consistent. Unless in Brazil the whole name was used.

Thanks! :)

Alright so here we have Shadow Warriors (That's Ninja Gaiden's EU name, the point is that I was aware of that when I edited it).

This item was using the orignal US, even though the boxart says otherwise, wasn't even using the alternate name field. I just submitted an edit to alter the name accordingly:

That's an interesting find! Was that sticker put over the game and then sealed? Or did it come specifically sealed for sale in another country? I'm just wondering if that should be it's own entry or not, since that example you put is technically still the NA release in every other way.

Where to draw the line? A lot of AU releases are games from other regions with stickers on them.
Title: Re: Listing Errors 2016
Post by: telly on May 02, 2016, 09:56:05 am
Personally (and you may disagree with me) I don't think a sticker should change the original release region of a game, or any game. I think it's still an NA release since it's been at the core, imported and marked for distribution in a different country. Especially if this sticker was placed by a third-party company outside of whomever released the game in the first place.

That's just my personal opinion though; it may lead to a lot of dupes if we do it that way. But I feel like that means you could import whatever you want and by placing a sticker on it, make it a "new entry" in the database.

The item 104024 have the red PL tag to indicate that it's a Polish version, i know that many games in theirs "usual" European version doesn't have many language others than English, French, German, Italian and Spanish (and rarely Portuguese :-\) so maybe these versions indicate that the game is in Polish (i can't confirm that since i never had one of these version in hands).

I usually don't care about Platinum version (or classics, etc... if one variant is already in the database i don't add them) but if the user added it into the database (with a cover and a lot of data by the way  :D ) i think we should keep that item with just a little edit of the name :

Was just wondering why my cover art submission for the Valkyria Chronicles Remastered armored case ed. was rejected.

http://vgcollect.com/item/96317

Here's the cover I submitted: https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7213/26545134204_4e90ec4b45_o.jpg

Reason given was that it was incorrect, but comparing it to the game in my hand I can't see what's wrong with it. I mean...other than it not being a really bad photo like what's there now. ;)

I think the the lack of the sticker is the issue. Good image, but the sticker was attached to the plastic wrapping outside the game itself.

The sticker is on the shrinkwrap - I don't recall us ever having / requiring that sort of thing in the past (it's not cover art if it's not ON the cover, IMO). I know there are other games w/ stickers on their shrinkwrap that are not represented by the images here.

Understandable, but I think this particular sticker helps identify the item and the item's name. They might not make for the best images, but they help identify proper naming. Another example would be Persona 4 Arena Ultimax - Tarot Card Set (http://"http://vgcollect.com/item/85203")

I guess agree to disagree. I think image quality trumps something as insignificant as that (and something that people won't even see unless they keep the game sealed). I'd say putting the sticker info in the notes, as someone else has already done, is sufficient.

But I *despise* crappy images, they stand out like an eyesore.

Yeah, I still have my sealed copy, so I'll try to get a properly scanned copy when possible. However, with the plastic wrapping, proper photos/scans can be difficult.

I didn't see that thread, must have overlooked it. Just read through it, and it was discussing how to name the game rather than the art anyway, but I get the drift.

I'll resubmit the new art. Thanks guys. I do find it amusing how some titles get so obsessed over, then I'll come across others that have glaring issues like cover art from the wrong region or with the "RP" still on the rating label & there will be tons of people who added it to their collection & never bothered to change it. :P

Haha, I know. When I check with the rest of the forum about an item, it's a good way for me to help judge how things are best done and what the general consensus is. But you're right -- so much out there doesn't have correct capitalization, spelling, or correct information.

On the admin side, it's surprising what people try to submit because they consider it an "edit" with no good rationale.

Well to be honest, we don't get to know what the rationale is because there is no way for someone to send that along too.

But yes, there is still a lot of work to be done with the existing entries. It will take a lot of time but we'll get it all sorted eventually.

Yeah, I imagine it's frustrating on both sides of the edit issue.

Although I'll admit to occasionally allowing my OCD to make me a little cranky, I never get upset at anyone involved in the process because I know we're all after the same thing - to make the db as thorough and accurate as possible. That's the problem - we care TOO MUCH! :P

Anyway, thanks for all your hard work Admins.  ;D

AFAIK, there was no "metal case edition." The steelbook case was empty and a pre-order bonus at GameStop with the standard version of the game.

Thoughts on how to handle the listing? We already have a listing for the empty steelbook here (http://vgcollect.com/item/37943).

Road Runner (Tengen - Black Cartridge)
http://vgcollect.com/item/13450

I thought about inquiring regarding the release status but now that I think about it, the game was released without the Nintendo Seal of Approval so Unofficial Release is probably appropriate. The title though is confusing as there's no other versions besides this one listed and I don't recall there ever being a gray cart or non-Tengen version released.

The description will need to be changed on 37943 to indicate what exactly the item is. The exclusivity comment there currently is not enough. Then merge the entries.

Hello, I'm new to the site. I update my collection and try to add as many informations as possible for each game so I edit a lot and I create some new entries too. One edit I've made has been rejected cos "Information Already on File" but it was not.

It is the first Grandia II Dreamcast (EU) that was on the site. It was empty so I added all the informations for the [UK] version including pictures, as I supposed it was the 'main' version for most people here before but the name edit has been rejected : http://vgcollect.com/item/46736

Those are the different versions I created btw : http://vgcollect.com/item/105261 (Grandia II [DE]) & http://vgcollect.com/item/105262 (Grandia II [FR])

Can people/admins tell me if it's fine to leave it that way without the [UK] in the name ? (cos it now has the uk number and barcode I added)

PS : I wasn't sure if I had to post this here or in the 'duplicate' thread

There were two versions of Ico that had the "PlayStation the Best release" in Japan. I didn't know how to distinguish the two so I tried to make one as "Gray Border" and one as "White Border". Let me know if I did that wrong; since the Gray border is considered a reprint, I could have designated the two entries that way instead.

Gray (Has yet to be accepted/denied for edits) http://vgcollect.com/item/85323

White (the entry I just made) http://vgcollect.com/item/105323

EDIT: I resubmitted the edit because I spelt Gray wrong the first time. And sorry for all the edits, admins, I probably submitted too many at a time  :-[

I rejected your edit to add [UK] to the title. For an EU category, a game's English release will not have a [UK] in the title unless there is an English EU version that exists also.

Also, I did reject 1 artwork change, as you have been putting spines in the back artwork image. The others that were permitted were due to no back artwork being on the entry already. In the future, make sure to upload back images without the spine if possible.

1. Gray Border is often called online as "Reprint" as can be seen here:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps2/367472-ico/data
The origin of this term, I cannot say. It is possible that it came from Gamefaqs themselves. Either way, for the gray border, you could put in "Ico - The Best reprint" in the alt-name field. Both game versions (per that list) have different release dates, barcodes and item numbers.

2. The release dates match up with this logo entry, where the blue backed logo was earlier and the coin logo was later:
http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/PlayStation_the_Best
Title: Re: Listing Errors 2016

Also the CERO rating is only on the Gray bordered release which makes sense if it came out later. Thanks for the clarification! :) I think I will resubmit the names of the items so they read as:

"Ico - PlayStation 2 the Best Reprint" for the gray border
http://vgcollect.com/item/85323

and simply

"Ico - PlayStation 2 the Best" for the white border
http://vgcollect.com/item/105323

And I'll keep that in mind for other games that are like this in the database

I have one more question cos I tried to update 2 front covers that got rejected :

Toh Shin Den S http://vgcollect.com/item/42171 the cover has a spine card so I wanted to edit with a 798x798 .jpg scan 266ko (without spine)
Virtua Fighter Kids http://vgcollect.com/item/19253 the cover is the whole jewel case, I thought it would be better with a 1396x1396 .jpg 880ko scan (without spine again)

Those two are a case, a judgement call. Some times it would be accepted, sometimes not. Here is the reason.

First, the image size you pick gets shrunk by the website. So 200x200 is the maximum size. Admins can compare the 2 images (old and new) in the small size and if there is little or no difference, it can be rejected. Sometimes people will try to put in new image that is just bigger and is exactly the same afterwards. So the original file size doesn't matter in the end.

In the 2 examples posted Toshinden S the image you chose to upload show less of the front than the existing ones. It is fine to have a photo with the spine card showing. This is part of the original package and should be in the image we use.

Virtua Fighter Kids front includes the spine part of the jewel case. You can see that it is clear and it says the game name in there. It is important for this to be visible in the front image. The same is true for US Dreamcast games, where 2 different versions cannot be determined by the manual, but what the jewel case edge has on it. Full front image is better to keep in this case of Virtua Fighter Kids rather than just what the manual/jewel case insert looks like.

Thank you for taking the time again, I appreciate. As you previously told me in this thread about the back cover to upload without spine card, i wrongly assumed that was also the case for front covers. I get it.

But it also depends if the jewel case is "clear" or not then ? I don't want to annoy you and other admins with future unecessary image edits so I prefer to make it clear.

I did test everything at 200x200 with Virtua Fighter Kids & Toh Shin Den S and that's what we get. So you actually prefer to display the covers in that order, right ?

Spine cards are usually quite important for those who collect Japanese CDs (not just games, but music CDs are this way too) so yes the Spine card should be there if we can get it. But it is also understandable that sometimes we cannot find a good picture of a game with the spine card in, or we may have games without them (I know I certainly do).

I would say the appropriate image types would go in this priority:
1. Image of front including spine card. This is how a sealed game would look.
2. Image of front including full jewel case if the plastic jewel case inlay is *not* plain black plastic (or the standard release container)
3. Image of the front insert/manual

The above is true for most game releases including things like PS2, Nintendo 3DS or whatever. We would want a full front shot for PS2 games that did not come in the black case (blue EU releases, red Greatest Hits, etc), Nintendo 3DS had some games that came in a red case, etc. Or Dreamcast games that were released under the All-Stars imprint where the manuals are the same as the normal release.

Now for identification purposes, many people are not aware there are different versions of a game, or a person may think we have the wrong picture if they do not have or know what the spine card is for. It may be worth noting on the Virtua Fighter Kids item Description field that the jewel case has a clear inlay and it says Virtua Fighter Kids in the insert which is viewable on the front edge. Toshinden S has the black inlay, which is common and doesn't need to be noted.

Regarding the back cover image, the pictures you have been uploading are what the back cover were to look like if it was removed from the jewel case and flattened. It shows the edge parts. This is fine for an entry where no picture exists, but if one already exists (and is correct) it should not be replaced with one showing the edges. I said "spine" to mean the portions of the physical back cover that appears on the spines of the jewel case, not the spine-card itself.

PS: for anyone reading these posts and wonder about a spine card. In Japan, a piece of printed paper is put onto the edges of a CD sold at retail containing the product name, sometimes the price and usually the barcode. This is why you find a lot of Japanese CD games not having a barcode on the back, because it would have been on the spine-card. For collector's purposes, the spine may or may not have been glued onto the jewel case at manufacture, so if a new item is removed from shrink-wrap, the spine card may also fall away. It is easy to be damaged or lost, which is why you will find CD releases with a spine card to often be sold or worth more than ones without. Spine-cards were also used on some Japanese LaserDiscs and perhaps other media types as well.

Many types of items have no current title standardization. It is not a listing error per-se. Someone will eventually have to take the time to go through and fix all those titles up for magazines.

I created a Yooka-Laylee listing (http://vgcollect.com/item/102887) as a PS4 [NA] physical copy and it was changed by karyann to a PSN version. The reason I listed it as a physical copy is because it is being published by Team17 who will most probably release physical copies according to these articles here:

1. http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/team17-will-publish-yooka-laylee-and-eyes-retail-release/0153431
2. http://nintendoeverything.com/yooka-laylee-is-getting-a-physical-release-being-published-by-team17/

The game is still under "Unreleased but official", so I don't think leaving it as PS4 [NA] is too farfetched.

They seem to be a lot more on the Nope than on the Yup side, even according to those two articles. I changed the category since there wasn't a PSN listing anyway. Personally I think it's more trouble to create listings for unanounced things and then have to remember to delete them if they don't come true  ??? but if you really want to have one go ahead. Please just remember to ask for a deletion next year if there's no physical release!

I would have changed it or asked for it to be deleted if there was an absolute no to the physical copy thing as I meticulously add/edit/remove items from my wishlist to keep track of what I plan to buy and to make sure everything on my list has correct data. This doesn't sound like a strong no to me: “Playtonic took the decision not to include this in the Kickstarter for the very reason that it could impact on development and at the time of their Kickstarter it would have been a big risk. Team17 has lots of experience in physical and will share ideas and opportunities with Playtonic - so absolutely we will be looking into it.”

Now, I have to accept that my created page has been pretty much hijacked for a different platform and recreate an entirely new page for a physical copy? I also created/edited that PS4 Yooka-Laylee boxart image myself as a place holder and no longer have it on my computer. Would there even be a way to transfer the same boxart to the physical copy listing? Not cool.  :-\

The articles are based on some speculating and comment(s) from the publisher. I think that alone holds enough weight to warrant a page as an unreleased possibility just as people created pages for games that are rumored to be coming out and only have a possible ESRB rating created for it and no other information but that, and if that isn't how the "Unreleased but official" thing works than I've taken some liberties to keep track of things. At least that's what I've done a few times to keep track of games I'm interested in and it's been accepted. I did it with Batman: Return to Arkham (PS4) and that was announced just days after my entry, but someone created a new page with the correct name and mine was deleted before I could get on and edit the entry. I don't typically create pages unless I have a decent amount of sources that show it to be a likely possibility.
Title: Re: Listing Errors 2016

Well, the unfortunate thing about that is that even with likely possibility, games still get cancelled or aren't released. Like Silent Hills, Shovel Knight on Xbox One, etc. I think it does merit a lot of caution, you can never be sure :)

I know some do like to make entries for games that aren't out yet. I personally stay away from it.

EDIT: But I'm also on the side that says it shouldn't be changed platforms, it should just be deleted if it doesn't come out.

I'm sorry about the loss of your file, but keeping files is also something very useful in general (that most of us learn the hard way after losing tons of files...). If that can be of any comfort, if the game does come out, it will have a proper rating image that would have replaced it anyway.

Speculations aren't a strong basis, and I don't personally agree with the creation of rumoured entries either. But the liberty to create them is also part of what makes VGCollect a nice place. Which is also why I said if you care for it, go ahead, but please don't forget to ask for a deletion if the listing doesn't come out, as it would be potentially confusing for anyone browsing the database and stumbling upon it. My ultimate goal is always an accurate database, and a great source of information for any type of collector. :)

As for the platform change, please keep in mind that people create entries in the wrong category fairly often, on platforms for which a game doesn't even exist, for example.

It may make more sense to only allow items to be added to physical categories once you can pre-order the game, or a release date for that physical copy has been announced.

I agree. I like to put up an item early if I can, but I usually wait until there's some sort of proper cover art (we shouldn't have user created boxart on this site anyway, imo) from the publisher, a general release date, or a general official announcement from the publishers themselves. Putting up items based on speculation will cause issues. We had Persona 5 entries from 2013, for instance, and the title used for those entries ended up being wrong.

I fixed 106663, but I can't verify what 106662 is. I can only find flash games. For 106662, I have PM the creator, if no response, it will be changed to the title in English via Machine translation (Penguin War) in a week.

I added a listing for Dragon Age: Origins: Awakening for XBox 360 Live to the site a while back.

According to the style guide (http://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,22.0.html), both subtitles and names of expansions go after a colon, which is exactly how I originally formatted it (seen above). There's an exact example of this in the style guide: Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising.

However, while searching the database, I noticed ALL the other versions had the title formatted differently, as Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. With a hyphen instead of another colon.

Examples:

So I renamed mine to be consistent with all the others, and the change was rejected. Not only that, but my original format was then altered by mastafafik to another format - Dragon Age Origins: Awakening - a format that is both incorrect according to the style guide, and inconsistent with all the other listings I was trying to match. So now it no longer matches the style guide recommended format (as my original title did), and it doesn't match all the other Dragon Age: Origins: Awakening listings either...

So, how should Dragon Age: Origins: Awakening by formatted? It seems that the mods cannot agree to follow the style guide here. And it would appear most of the current listings are all incorrectly titled in the database.

I should note that Dragon Age: Origins is an example given in the style guide as well, so removing the colon before "Origins" in my listing makes even less sense.

Personally, I do not add games for which there are no appropriate categories to put them in, and then note them for addition later. I have 11 games on my list to add for MD [AU] already, I will add to my notes to move those when that category gets created.

I had a couple of image edits rejected. The first was for JASF: Jane's Advanced Strike Fighters (PS3 NA): http://vgcollect.com/item/96203

My image was definitely higher quality than the current one, so I'm guessing whoever rejected it didn't look close enough (I've been told that really high quality images can appear to be low quality due to the way the mods see them? I have no clue, I just work here. :P)

The other was for Soldier of Fortune: Payback (PS3 NA): http://vgcollect.com/item/13367

I'm guessing this is because the image I submitted was different from the current one - the one I submitted had a red strip under the name of the game. But that's the way the cover is - I double-checked the item # & barcode against what was already on file and they both matched, so my guess is the current cover was early prototype box art that wasn't final. If it WAS final then there are 2 versions of this game, but again, all the info matched up otherwise and this is such a throwaway release that that seems unlikely to me.

I will re-submit both of these once I get home.

I submitted an edit for the Front image but noticed the Back and Disc images are for the UK/EU release and probably need removed. I also double checked Wii [EU] and didn't see a listing the UK/EU release of the game so perhaps someone on that side of the pond can create a listing using those images and the pertinent info?  ;)

Star Trek: Shattered Universe (http://vgcollect.com/item/103898) (PS2 - EU)
I don't usually edit data added by other users but this time the item number was wrong, the SLES-52836 is for Knight Rider 2 not for Star Trek Shattered Universe so i've made an edit to change that.

All-Star Baseball 2005 (http://vgcollect.com/item/55866) (PS2 - EU)
That game was never released in the EU, it sadly got canceled.

Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (http://vgcollect.com/item/100851) (PS2 - EU)
Well... technically that game got a release on the PS2 with Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence but i absolutely don't think they made an "official" release with only that game (and by the way the barcode on that fake cover, 4012927023167, is also a barcode for a PAL version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance). How should we proceed with that game, should we change that "Official Release" into "Unofficial Release" or we simply delete it from the database ?

Okay, so someone keeps adjusting the names of a bunch of amiibo [EU], not all of them, just some.  I assume only the ones they have in there own collection.  I added a good chunk of the EU amiibo myself, I used the following naming convention

Featured Character name (Collection Name) - Brand of Figure   --->   Jigglypuff (Smash Bros. Collection) - Amiibo Figure
Therefore, Jigglypuff would be listed under 'J', Bowser under 'B', you get the idea!

Someone keeps adjusting the names to have 'amiibo' at the start, therefore listed under 'A' in the browse section and our collections.  Here's the Mega man amiibo, now listed under 'A': http://vgcollect.com/item/77049
I originally corrected a few of the changes a couple days ago, but the second time the changes came up I noticed what they may be getting at here.  If we were to rename them using this same naming convention, all the Amiibo would be listed together in the bowse section and our personal collections, while still listed in alphabetical order.  It's worth considering a naming overhaul, what should we do??

Title: Re: Listing Errors 2016

Using the figure naming guideline, Amiibo should start the name... although it probably should be Nintendo Amiibo.

Those changes I made today are not even correct yet to begin with. The figure number needs to be in the title. I didn't notice the number until I got to the Mii. I also do not know whether the number matches to the mainline or to the subline imprint... in those cases, the search was showing me only ones under the Super Smash Bros. Collection imprint.

Now, if we had a category called Nintendo Amiibo, and these items were in that category, then we would not need to have Amiibo in the title at all. In an ideal situation, the figure itself would just be the name, and the figure record would be attached to all the different lines and sublines and item number. We aren't there yet!

What's confusing me is that you only changed the names of select amiibo, not even going through the listing alphabetically, you hadn't added them to your own collection either so I was wrong in assuming they were only changing values for items they had added to their online collection.

I've only ever noticed numbers for the Smash Bros. Subline, What should we do then?

What's confusing me is that you only changed the names of select amiibo, not even going through the listing alphabetically, you hadn't added them to your own collection either so I was wrong in assuming they were only changing values for items they had added to their online collection.

It is because I wasn't searching for Amiibo. I searched for Dreamcast Collection:
http://vgcollect.com/search/Dreamcast%20Collection
After the search update, it shows more than what you search for. While I am looking for games just called Dreamcast Collection, I figure that it is good the search shows me other things too. Then I can go and look to see if I can find items that still need pictures, or if an entry needs their title fixed. So the only Amiibos that have shown up so far in those results are the one with "Collection" in the name, so all the ones that say Super Smash Bros. Collection.

So this: http://vgcollect.com/item/81693
currently: Amiibo: Super Smash Bros. Collection - Greninja
should be: Amiibo: Super Smash Bros. Collection - No. 36 Greninja

An actual UMD was not made, but the the game is available to be played on the PSP as a digital title. The publisher created a "PSP retail display set," as noted on their site (http://vblank.com/20160719.php). Should this be more of a merch item? Or a box for the digital copy?

I got a Rejected on this after submitting the correct box art. I was told it was the incorrect box art. As I own the game I know what the box art looks like. The correct image was submitted.

http://vgcollect.com/item/110148

Your image was missing the white rectangle logo that shows up on the upper left side. It can be seen in the existing picture and also on other images I used as reference. Better pictures are great, but removing information is not ok. If your game does not have this logo on it, we can discuss whether or not you have a variation worthy of having a new entry.

That white logo in the top left is on the wrap not on the box art itself. Its impossible to get it on a scan of the box art. All it is, is "The Official Product of the World Cup Logo".

The db entry should still have this label on the picture. In the description, a note can be made that the label is on the outside plastic of the factory sealed release, and used or resealed copies will be missing that label.

Gal Gun: Double Peace
http://vgcollect.com/item/107905

I submitted an edit for the name to get it more in line with other releases such as this http://vgcollect.com/item/109216 which is listed as Gal*Gun: Double Peace.

I'm thinking perhaps I used the wrong symbol of Shift+8 or "*". Should it be Alt+42 or "*"? Not going to lie but I can't tell the difference between the two. For that matter, should ANY of the listings have the "*" in the name?  :P

Any alt-code gurus want to take a stab at this?  ;)

I tried to edit the Publisher of this title to Sony because they ARE the publisher of the title and it was rejected. Any reason why?

Sony Published titles have SCUS as their Item Number code instead of the usual SLUS, Treasure Planet also uses SCUS.

Shouldn't the official title be taken into consideration though? If the title includes a star in the official name and it's what's on the box art shouldn't it also be in the title on VGC?

If that's not the case, then all the Idolm@ster games I edited are completely wrong  :(

@ is a valid character, but Idolmaster should be in alt-name field too to help with searches. But I am not saying you need to go fix all those entries.

Regarding Gal Gun, actually it should be in the db as one word instead of two.
Even look at the Japanese site, above the logo the text version has no star in it:
http://www.galgun.com/W/

Here is just the logo in case you don't want to go to the site because of work/school:

I think I misunderstood when I read "The star is a design of the logo and is not a letter or punctuation so it should not be in the title" I thought you were saying that no symbols or special characters at all should be allowed in the database titles.

Yeah, I'll definitely go back through those Idolmaster titles and make sure they're consistent :)

Oh, interesting. I didn't know that! Are there variants that actually have the PEGI on the disc? I suppose it doesn't matter if you could get either or.

EDIT: Seems like most PEGI games have USK on the actual disc  :o That's what I get for not living in Europe hah
Title: Re: Listing Errors 2016

Yes a lot of the time the disc label or even the disc is the same across different EU releases, and sometimes also AU release. On some games you will even see OFLC, PEGI, USK and/or BFFC on the disc at once. I'm certain they do this to save cost of pressing new disc, especially since they do not change the code or localize the game itself for every region. Just make different cover and manual for the different languages and countries most of the time. Also, a lot of AU games recently are just UK or EU English versions with AU labels on them.

So someone added this game to the Nintendo DS [KR] category

Obviously "The World is Not Enough" was not a DS release, and there is a Korean DS 007 game, but it's Quantum of Solace. So I'm wondering where this should go/ how should it be edited?

It should be deleted.  Based on the user who has the listing in their collection's collection, I presume they meant to create a N64 [AU] listing.  If they did, they can make a new submission.

This seems like a flip flop in policy because I remember getting scolded for putting the number that was on the packaging in that field and was told it needed to be the item number on the cart. Meh...adapt and overcome I suppose.  ;)

http://vgcollect.com/item/87474 (http://vgcollect.com/item/87474)

This game is the Limited Edition. Item Number  T-5702M. The artbox image, I scanned from my own copy.

In 07-16-2016, someone changed the artbox to the Standard Edition (T-5703M). I think the image was took from Gamefaqs.

Well... The standard edition needs a entry in the DB and the Limited Edition needs other edit.

Thanks!!!

Maybe it was meant to be submitted as the EU version? Perhaps the two should be merged?

Hi, everyone.

In 08-04-2015, I created the item: Idol Janshi Wo Tsukucchaou for Sega Dreamcast.

http://vgcollect.com/item/87474 (http://vgcollect.com/item/87474)

This game is the Limited Edition. Item Number  T-5702M. The artbox image, I scanned from my own copy.

In 07-16-2016, someone changed the artbox to the Standard Edition (T-5703M). I think the image was took from Gamefaqs.

Well... The standard edition needs a entry in the DB and the Limited Edition needs other edit.

Thanks!!!

Fixed title and images. You did not specify that it was anything but the standard edition by omitting that portion of the title.
If you have the spine card, please put in the barcode for this item. I was not able to find a good image of the spine card to read the barcode numbers.

This is what I created today, a blank item:

https://vgcollect.com/item/116060

Not sure how. I put all the stuff in. I was trying to create Retro Gamer #156 Magazine.

I clicked back on my browser (Google Chrome) to be sure, and all the info was still all there; title, date, pic uploads and all:

Would you look at that, Gamefaqs has an actual cover instead of a stock photo for a modern game.

My first 2 places I use for artwork are Mobygames and Gamefaqs. Ebay is probably #3 most used.

Gamefaqs also has alot of fake art.

Stock photo is OK if no photo is in the DB. But yes there should be no one-stop-shop for images. If you need to update an image you need to find or take one of the actual item and not replace with a fake or stock/pre-sale image. As in this case, there is clearly a label on the One Piece game that usually is not on a stock photo. That is the one thing I notice at first, to be aware of when looking for a replacement image. Also another thing that is often different in stock/pre-sale is the location or arrangement of the developer/publisher logos.

Gamefaqs also has alot of fake art.

Yeah, Gamefaqs isn't perfect for sure, but it's great that Gamefaqs has a ton of harder to find artwork for really easy if you can catch the occasional fake. :) Mobygames is great for European or North American art, and is great for scans of discs or cartridges, but it has almost nothing for Japanese or Korean games.

For me, Ebay is great for confirming art and finding really hard to find stuff, but the images are more often then not unusable.

Can anyone help me correct an image error?

I added an entry for Vector Pilot (https://vgcollect.com/item/116273), to date the best selling homebrew for the Vectrex.

The front & back covers, and cartridge image are all black.
I thought it was perhaps because I used images from Moby Games (http://www.mobygames.com/game/vectrex/vector-pilot) and perhaps they were watermarked and rejected. So then I made my own screenshots from other sources, and those don't seem to change out the black placeholders.

Then I found a suggestion that the format must be .jpeg at a maximum size of 200x200 pixels, so I re-edited to fit that size, and still no joy.

What am I doing wrong?

It's the French variant of the Wii version of Driving Theory Training and apparently it's never been released in NA (nor was the DS version). I will make a few edit to that game (especially to the name since it's "Warning: Code de la Route" and not simply "Code de la Route").

*Pointless French Fact: The french version was released in collaboration with a TV-channel called M6 (you can see their logo on the cover) and "Warning" is a car show on that channel, that's where the name come from.*

hello, first time posting here.  I was going through and cataloguing some of my NES carts when I found an odd duck.  my wizards and warriors cart for nes does not fall into either listed versions
https://vgcollect.com/item/5678 or https://vgcollect.com/item/11631
the first 3 screw cart shows a pic with a white oval seal but my 3 screw cart has the small black round seal like the 5 screw cart
I tried to create a new listing but it was rejected

I have pics of my cart but I don't know why the insert image button refuses to work.....

also I believe https://vgcollect.com/item/22060 intellivoice should be in intellivision-intellivision hardware not hardware-accessory

(again sorry I cant seem to load pics the insert image button does nothing for me.  BTW you have an amazing site!)

Confirmed this version exists. I made this entry for you to add to or put into collection:
https://vgcollect.com/item/117107

For Intellivision, there is no Intellivision accessory category. It can be put into Hardware because of that or leave in the generic accessory category.

BUT... Stranger's Wrath doesn't exist on steam.

Just saying that collectively, all of this information doesn't point to an obvious answer.

But yeah, I suppose just merging with the Steam listings would work.
