or maybe just the zquick start menu is faster.

I've disabled the Quick Menu on mine. Even without it the load times are indeed faster. At least the boot-up time.

Haven't noticed, and I have been playing a lot of Mario Kart lately. Is there a pulsing blue light around the home button on the gamepad for you guys?

When you get the update it should pulse blue.

Very nice.  I love being able to load a game from the quick menu, rather than waiting for the whole UI to load.  Now I can get into Mario Kart 8 faster :)
