Blazing Chrome

I only buy re-releases if the developers improved the original version significantly or the original is very close to my heart.

I have a strong emotional attachment to Turok as I played the sh*t out of it in late 1997. Consequently I bought the re-release for Switch knowing that the view distance and resolution have been updated which makes it playable in the first place with my rising demands concerning controls and visuals over the past 20 years.

At one point I had a copy of Hikaru No Go Taikenban, of which (to my knowledge) there were only 555 copies existing. A Korean collector bought it from me so there aren't real rarities in my collection anymore. However I have a pretty uncommon PC big box release of Wrath of Earth which I really like aesthetically (game itself is trash).

I don't know why but somehow I find Valfaris for the Switch extremely difficult. I just cannot cope with the boss patterns and the erratic movement of enemies. Additionally they respawn extremely fast and pop up suddenly and clip through walls thus making defense impossible in certain parts of the game. And when they appear in masses shooting from different angles it is just a nonstop frustration experience due to the weapon only being able to shoot in 45° steps, especially when there is no checkpoint directly afterwards when you're low on health and full of battle wounds.

That being said it is a nice looking pixelart game with pretty outstanding metal music for those of us who enjoy that kind of music (I'm not a particularly big fan of metal but still nice to listen to in a game). I'd grant it a recommendation if you can grab it cheaply.

Many of your titles are not from the past decade. Quake 4 for example was released in 2005.

In no particular order:

- Broken Age
- GTA V
- Minecraft
- Outlast
- Undertale
- Shovel Knight
- Bloodstained - Ritual of the Night
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Super Mario Odyssey
- The Last of Us

I got Ghostbusters as a christmas present and the other two I bought regularly. Love Shovel Knight so far. Fantastic game, excellent value. Bud Spencer and Terence Hill is a little repetitive but great music from the movies. Will probably finish it and never play it again + the loading times within the menu system are surprisingly bad. No idea how Ghostbusters plays, I just completed the intro mission and the controls feel weird. Hopefully the campaign missions are entertaining and I get used to the controls. I also got Ninja Saviors and Blazing Chrome on order but those will arrive next year. :)

i agree with that unless you where working in a store with 50 brand new cib copies of earthbound in the bargain bin. some stores had that. or where the kinda guy that called all winners for the grey and gold carts and bought them all up for 30 to 1100$

Well that's a different story. But still, you would need to reserve space for lots of games for over 20 years without even knowing if their market value will ever justify the effort.

Just finished playing Axiom Verge on the Switch in a world record time of 14:16 hours.

Initially I was a little skeptic as the 8bit graphics and the reduced color palette reminded me more of the NES generation titles which I can't stand but the game has a proper soul and lots and lots of backtracking, demanding enemies and a very rewarding upgrade and weapon system. The story is utter bullshit though. Towards the end I skipped all the story nonsense. I'm looking forward for the sequel though which is due in 2020.

- Cyberpunk 2077
- Axiom Verge 2
- Psychonauts 2

Although I might pass on Cyberpunk 2077 as my pc is a laptop and the Switch is most likely not going to get a release. Still hoping for a delayed platform release like in the Witcher 3 case.

I worked in the video game section of Toys R Us back between 2003-04, and we had literal stacks of Bad Fur Day that we couldn’t sell. There were so many of them. Even back then, I was thinking that maybe I should pick up one or two to keep in the box...in hindsight, I guess I should have.

I remember old second hand video game stores in the 90s which had tons of nowadays rarities which I just passed on. It's a waste of time to mourn over those missed opportunities. Keep in mind that you have to take care 20-25 years of those items just to make a few hundret bucks profit. That's not even close to a month salary for most of us.

There's only place for one console in my living room and that's already been taken by the Switch.  Sorry Microsoft. Also not that much interested in the Xbox game library.

I bought a reproduction sample of Metal Warriors for SNES on Etsy a few years ago. It took quite some time for the item to arrive but the item was as advertised and worked ok.
