I just started binging Rick and Morty about a month ago having never seen it before. Currently in mid season 4. I preferred the first three seasons but at least I have a grasp on all the gifs I've seen referencing it.
I finally found a good copy (looks near mint) of Tomb Raider Anniversary (PS2) for a decent price. I snagged it so I can move forward with the design of my Tomb Raider shadowbox. I should have it in the mail sometime in the next week.
I decided to make my 6th and final (for a time) shadowbox based on Shenmue. I'll need to find a complete copy of the original Dreamcast game (I should have kept mine), but it'll have to wait.

Went to two town wide garage sales and found a lot of handheld stuff.
Also picked up many other goodies and found only one 3 cent game at Walmart.
Lets get it started.

- Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 (I loved the first one, had to get this.)
- Rainbow Six Siege - Deluxe Edition (Best Buy Exclusive $15)
- NBA 2K20 (Best Buy $7)

3DS
- Animal Crossing New Leaf Welcome Amiibo (Walmart $10)
- Disney Magical World 2 (saw this at my local used game store going for far less then online)
NDS
Saw this going up in price and picked up a copy.
- Barnyard Blast
Now time to tell you the garage sale finds...
GC
I find a Mario Megamix Dance pad in a free box.
First sale find was a White Nintendo DS with six loose games for $12.
- Paws & Claws Pet Vet
- Nintendogs Dachshund & Friends
- Cooking Mama
- My Sims
- Hannah Montana Music Jam
- Charlotte's Web
Next I stop at a sale and ask the lady about video games, she tells me she had a SNES but it wasn't at the house the sale was at. I gave her my number and i'm crossing my fingers. Her mom speaks up and says she has a Game Boy. I ask if she could bring it out and she goes to look. She brings out three systems, each had one game in the system. A Black DS lite, A Yellow GameBoy Color and a Silver GBA. I ask a price and she wanted $50 for all. I honestly didn't want the DS or its game. So I offered $30 for the other two and she could sell the DS for $20. She was find with that. I didn't own the Silver GBA. Here's the games.
GBC
- Tetris DX
GBA
- Tetris Worlds
Last I find a lady who had a table full of DS and GBA games and systems.
I make her an offer for $30 everything and she said no, she wanted $20 for the DS alone.
So I removed the DS system and a few games for it and said would she take $30 for the rest. She was okay with that.
Here's all I got for $30.

It's been a busy (and expensive) week in pickups for me. First pic is from a retro gaming swap meet I went to. I actually ended up with $200 more than what I came with from selling a bunch of my own stuff so picking up all this didn't really cost me anything at the end of the day. I'm ultra happy about the Playstation TV since these are fairly rare these days. If only I was able to get what's in the second pic for free.
Yep, I finally bit the bullet. Yes, graphics cards are stupid expensive, and yes, this card was about $400 cheaper 6-months ago, however what made me decide to get it was this same card was actually $600 more expensive just last week prior to the 3080 Ti coming out. Thankfully AMD had the sense to drop the MSRP to compete and seeing how I've barely seen a GPU since last Fall, I decided to go for it. At least now i'm set for another 5 or 6 years before I have to even think about getting a graphics card again. Hopefully by then Crypto will crash, or at least mining for it will be a thing of the past and you'll actually be able to just walk in and buy a graphics card like you almost always have been able to.

I caved in and bought the RetroN 5
Despite it's issues (You can't have more than one game in a slot at a time, and it's very finicky about the game being clean) I enjoy it so far. It actually plays a game my regular NES won't for some reason (Adventures of Tom Sawyer), and I like that I can just plug my other console controllers into it, because the controller that comes with it is crap.
A good investment overall. I just wish it played Sega MS as well.

You can get an adapter that plays Sega Master System carts and cards as well as Game Gear games.
Personally the input lag killed the system for me. I was just to used to the real consoles.

I know, I just feel like that should be included, ya know? Add-Ons are annoying.
I understand what you mean about the lag, I don't intend on using this as a replacement for my consoles. I just figure it can be an alternative for days when I don't feel like changing the hookups to play a different system. I'm lazy like that.
Now I just need one that plays disc games like Playstation, Dreamcast, and Sega CD. Maybe throw some CD-i and FM-Towns in there... ;)

In defense of this issue, this adapter was not released until after the console was.

I loved those games. I couldn’t get enough of the little brain teaser puzzles. I couldn’t tell you one thing about the story though.

Used my game store credit on some Switch games:
Hades
Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove
Shantae - Half Genie Hero
Really pleased with all of them, got rid of my Wii U Shovel Knight in favour of the Switch version but had yet to replace it, Shantae is always good, Hades is yet another Switch game they don't seem to have manufactured enough copies of - it's already turning into Ebay fodder, so to pick it up for £30 new (and credit to boot) was a real bargain.

Just had one of the craziest, if not the craziest pickup of my life. Has an interesting story behind it too.
My fiancee's cousin who's in his late 40s has been telling us the better part of 6 or 7 years about how he still has all his old childhood games and game consoles packed away somewhere in his basement. Of course, her and I had to ask what he planned on doing with them. Because he hadn't played them in decades he said that he'd dig them out someday and potentially sell them to us. Years passed and nothing ever came of it, at least not until a few days ago.
He recently just moved into a new house and while moving found all those old games from his childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. He had told us about the NES and SNES, as well as a few games for each, but never any of the other stuff. So when he started sending pics to my fiancee, I nearly had a heart attack! He wanted to know how much all of it was worth, and not because he was looking to retire off his old games, but rather because he wanted to negotiate a fair deal with us. I priced out everything in his collection (yes, even Snatcher and the other insanely expensive items) and gave him the breakdown of what his collection was worth. He was shocked at how valuable certain games were, and also that his Nintendo stuff wasn't more valuable. He then pretty much told my fiancee and I to "make him an offer." In the end we were both happy; he got a huge wad of cash and I got a screaming deal on this stuff. Just goes to show you that you should probably let everyone you can know that you're a crazy game collector since you never know what they might be holding onto from decades ago.

My mind is blown that his cousin was clearly not a casual gamer and had a fairly curated collection going, probably really read gaming mags closely to have picked up some of those titles at the time. No casual gamer just goes and buys Lunar: The Silver Star and Snatcher at Babbage's or wherever at the time of release all willy-nilly, lol.
And yet, he let go of all that stuff like someone who is just able to dig out the box of old systems and video games for the garage sale and happily accept a crisp 20 for it all.. I dunno, it just fascinates me because I could never do that, and the guy was clearly a hardcore gaming nut not unlike most of us here. Then around the Xbox generation, he probably just grew bored and stopped reading the magazines and moved on to other things. Again, all the power to him, and I know you said you gave quite a bit more than a crisp 20 to him for that stuff, still, I could never do what he did if I had that collection!!!!!
-
Picked up enough to have a pick ups update.

I think his collection reflects his priorities in relation when these games/consoles came out. He has two kids, one just graduated high school and the other is in his early 20s. His PS1 games were probably his last bastion of independence before having them. He probably dove into XBOX as sort of a last ditch effort to relive some of his care free adulthood, but yeah. He has started gaming again, but really only plays stuff here and there. He just finished AC: Valhalla and was talking to me about it when we were conducting the deal.
Keep in mind the period of time he bought this stuff too. Everything was bought when these consoles were the hot new gaming systems so no one was thinking "oh yeah, these Snatcher and Popful Mail games are going to be worth a fortune someday!" They were little niche games that appealed to him at the time, but he had no concept of how rare or collectable they'd be someday, no one really did. And the fact that he has plenty of bargain bin military ops and sports games supports this too. In fact, he was shocked the Nintendo stuff wasn't the most valuable, which is what I often hear people say who have little to no idea about the video game collecting scene. So yeah, he was blissfully unaware his stuff was so valuable all these years until I told him. He simply held onto them as sentimental belongings he bought 20+ years ago, not as a guy collecting rare, expensive games. And I wish this only cost a crisp $20 bill. Multiply that by 130 and there's your grand total on everything. Not cheap, but for half price I'll do that all day.

I mean you have seen the sony interview right. Jim Ryan comment on older games than last gen. Believe it or not the Majority is the exact same like this guy.

I have plenty of family members that enjoyed them older computer games and stuff like super mario world back in the day
Nowadays they just look and chuckle at it. They see zero replay value in it and can't understand why people want this. They'd throw that stuff away in a heartbeat for something new.

Ok... June ended up being a surprisingly good month for me as I FINALLY got both my tax return and stimulus checks. FINALLY... months late.
Very happy to say I've got my Game Gear Everdrive X7 in the mail and have it working. It is incredible and was worth the wait.
Other pick ups include...
- Tomb Raider Anniversary (PS2) for my shadowbox.
- Unreal Tournament (PS2) for the nostalgia. It didn't hold up well but for $6.... lol
- Hyperkin PS2 HDMI cable - Does a pretty good job so far.
-
Flea market $3 each
PlayStation 3
The Last of Us
Star Ocean Last Hope International
-
Last snag of the month... a complete near mint copy of the first Shenmue (US release) on Dreamcast. I decided that Shenmue would be my final shadowbox for quite some time. It will be the 6th I'll have done and it takes near 40 hours (average) to make one of these.

Untitled Goose Game arrived about 3 weeks ahead of schedule.
-
Yesterday, I was very tempted to buy a PS5 with my stimulus check, but I held back.
Instead I replaced a few of my Greatest Hits with black labels on PS1
Final Fantasy IX
Final Fantasy Tactics
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
Best to spend wisely and save the rest.

Yesterday, I was very tempted to buy a PS5 with my stimulus check, but I held back.
About two months ago, I nearly did the same but for an Xbox Series X. I walked into a Wal-Mart on a weekday at 1pm and lo and behold, they had one single XSX in the glass case that was just put in there. The associate was really eager to sell it to me since he noticed that I couldn't stop looking at it, I had never seen one in the flesh before. As tempting as it was, I walked away from it, I'm sure it was sold away a few hours later.

Got a PS5 today for $1.88. Thanks to my employee discount being doubled this week and the fact that the president of the company where I work gave everyone a ton of Achivers points last year during Covid as a thank you, which I turned into gift cards, it brought the price way down. Only game I have for it right now (and probably for a LONG while) is the new Ratchet & Clank.
My other pick-ups this month were:
-Logitech wireless PS2 controller
-Rockman X3 (PS1)
-Rockman Complete Works (PS1)
