Video Game Database Discussion / Re: X Box One / X Box Series X
« on: December 17, 2021, 03:29:20 pm »
I have to say that respectfully in my opinion XSX/XONE games released being categorized as oldest consoler version in this case to XONE does not make any sense, they are released for XBOX series X branded capable of running on XONE, even on the label it mentions first Xbox Series X and on the top right corner they clearly state Xbox Series X. In nature the games from Microsoft are released for XBOX series X and compatible with XONE and not the other way around.

This is definitely annoying, using this tool for 7 years, and this is the first time a categorization issue like this makes me thing to possibly drop from the platform to another one.

Video Game Database Discussion / Re: Category/Platform Requests

This might have been already mentioned on forums but shouldn't Neo Geo AES and Neo Geo Pocket/Color be on different category rather than everything under Neo Geo(general)? Same for Virtual Boy and Game & Watch. This was the case with Atari platforms which was split for each last year and it is now much better and makes sense.

Not sure if all of this requires a lot of effort/work or even reorganization of DB but definitively it is something that in my opinion makes much more sense.

I understand there are just very few items for Virtual Boy and Game & Watch to worth the split , but that is not the case for Neo Geo AES and Neo Geo Pocket which have much more items.

Anyways if this is something being considered it would be nice and appreciated  ;)

I honesty don't care if they are an OG copy or a greatest hits I still count as being in my collection and still play the same. And that's what matters.
Amen.

Double Amen.

GH is the same freaking game!!! *99.99% of the times

Knack on ps4! It's a solid brawler/platformer with tons of replay value and collectibles.

Agreed, really nice old school classic gameplay but too much hate from press and gamers.

I do prefer first edition rather than GH/Platinum/Selects but I do not hate them, I do not care getting those if it is the only type I have seen through game hunting, for example here at mi country for some reason PS1 black label are much more difficult and expensive to get than Greatest Hits ones, I would not mind getting a GH Symphony of the Night ($40 US Dlls) than a black SoTN ($120 US Dlls), since I collect to play the games rather than just leaving them on a shelf looking good but collecting dust.

For me it  there are two major examples of games I love but everybody hates. One for X360 "Ninety Nine Nights"  and for PS3 "LAIR", both I recognize are not great games but well they just seem to appeal to me, N3 basically was the first major X360 release I waited for months after 360's release and even when I admit it has several flaws it mixes some RPG elements with a Dinasty Warrios gamplay that basically made me fall in love, that mix plus the availability to play different sides of story with different characters, some well developed (others not) just made the deal for me, even though most people hates it by the flaws: the bad lip sync, cheesy story and voice acting, repetitive gameplay and bland visuals.

For LAIR on PS3 it happened something similar, it is the game for which I bought the PS3, and with the prestige of Factor 5 it was a no brainer, while everybody complains about the motion dragon flight controls I found them ok , some times  frustrating, but so the Resident Evil early games controls were too, plus I played the game once the patch to allow stick control and improvement on motion was released. Anyways the ability to ride a Dragon, have an on air fight with another Dragon, being able to pull a bull from the horns and throw it to a road full of soldiers and spit fire is a win for me  plus the great production values of the game and 1080p.

I am sure there are others on older consoles (perhaps KI Gold on N64) but these are my more significant cases where hate is too much while I love the games.  :)
