If there is a new category or platform that you would like to see in the database, request it here. Please only request categories/platforms that you actually own items/games for. We don't want to fill up the database with empty categories. All requests will be researched by the staff, and added if we feel it is necessary. Currently, only two staff members are capable of adding categories, so the process may take some time.

A Clone Console category would be greatly appreciated. There's plenty of Hyperkin, Retro-Bit, and other brands of clone consoles already in the database that could use their own category.
-
Here are some categories not yet executed from the earlier thread that I'm looking forward to:
Commodore 64 Floppy Disks [EU]
Commodore 64 Accessory
Atari ST Hardware

This would be a great place to put the Retron 5
-
Nintendo 3DS eShop [AU]
- Item currently in the database needs to be moved to this category
-
Casio Loopy Accessory [JP], please!

Technically, this is not a request for a new category but to change/rename one - Tandy Color Computer. For some reason Tandy has a category but only has the hardware subcategory and Tandy games are under "Other/TRS-80"
As well, even though all Radio Shack computers can be put under a TRS-80 umbrella the Color Computers are completely different machines from the TRS-80 Model computers, the former being based on the 6809 processor and the latter based on the Z-80. It would be like putting the C64 and Amiga all mashed together in one category.
Thanks for your consideration :)

Not sure if need to specifically have it "Floppy Disk" ...

For multiple platforms (e.g. psvita & ps3), add an Asia [AS] category for each

For multiple platforms (e.g. psvita & ps3), add an Asia [AS] category for each
This would be good for the Xbox one also, I have been adding games for the system to keep it up to date, but there is nowhere to put the Japanese games. I don't think there is many, I have only came across one, so a whole thing for Japanese games I don't think would be necessary, But maybe one for Asian games?
-
Game categories are typically split up between release countries. Such as:
[CN] China
[JP] Japan
[HK] Hong Kong
Are there games you find that have a wider release that do not fit into these categories?

Mainly talking about Playstation games - there isn't a suitable category for PS vita/PS3/PS4 games yet - unless you put it in JP category - since some games are released as Asia version but in-game language is just like the JPN version - but cover art may be slightly different. Also, a [CN] China version game isn't seen often for Playstation games (I haven't actually seen one yet) - if you go visit the online game stores you would usually see the HK or TW versions (I've only seen subtitles in traditional Chinese - often with multiple languages too) but they are all categorized under ASIA - unless people want to be very specific about the category to put it in, I think CN/HK/TW can all be combined into one category (as Asia category - they are all under the Playstation network in Asia anyways (https://asia.playstation.com/) ). However, it might be good to have a separate category for Korea version games in this case, since their cover art may be slightly different and in Korean language too.
-
IMO, I do not think Japan should be lumped into "Asia" concerning a video game category. If anything, Asia could be handled separately, and treated like the [EU] categories mostly are, where you put the locale in the game title.

You are right - Japan shouldn't be lumped into the "Asia"category (if you look at Playstation Network [Asia] - it doesn't include Japan either) - I'm mainly talking about CN/HK/TW here. As stated, countries like Korea & Japan should be separated - since their covert arts will usually be different in some way.

And yes, Asia should be handled separately and treated like the [EU] category, but currently there isn't one. For example: Sword Art Online (http://vgcollect.com/item/67915) - people are currently putting Asia version games into the JPN category at the moment because there isn't a category for it.
-
Okay Japan should be its own thing that makes sense, so I would like to request an xbox one Japan category. Also I would like to request an xbox one digital category, perhaps under xbox live? From looking at the category's it seems xbox 360 digital games are split from retail, and same with playstation 3 and playstation 4, so shouldn't it be like that for xbox one also? Thanks for even considering these :)

@administrators, when can we get them added? :)

added some additional categories that I'm missing to the post above

I formally request the BBC Bridge Companion be added to the database.
Here is a wiki link with very little information on it for you if you need it.

It will be nice to have Nintendo DSi [EU] and WonderSwan Accessory.

Scott and I will knock out the new requests tomorrow night.

-
Sega Master System [BR Tec Toy]
Sega Mega Drive/Genesis [BR Tec Toy]
Sega Game Gear [BR Tec Toy]
Sega Dreamcast [BR Tec Toy]
Sega Saturn [BR Tec Toy]
There's no need to list Tec Toy in the region. BR is enough since they were, and still are, the official distributor.
In the case of the NES games... the release version would be added to the title. So three different companies released official stuff? Because if not, then they're all technically unlicensed...

Makes sense with Tec Toy stuff. But for NES, there are a lot of companies that released NES games here (Most of them were unlicensed). But there are also licensed companies. And each one of them have a different format of cartridge that is compatible with a specific system. NES cartridges for Phantom System are not compatible with NES cartridges for Milmar, for example.

I do not really see the need for the following category:
Sega CD Demo
http://vgcollect.com/browse/segacddemo (http://vgcollect.com/browse/segacddemo)
As far as I understand, Demo CDs are usually sorted under their respective [NA]/[EU] categories. I would vote for a removal of this category. Besides, it's empty so no ones feelings would be hurt :)

I don't see my requests in the list (probably my fault, I didn't make it clear, my bad :() anyway here are the ones I suggested, the Xbox Live is because it seems everything else the digital games are under a different category? Such as Playstation with PSN and Nintendo and their Eshop, also the 360 digital is under Xbox Live :).
Xbox Live
Xbox One [EU]
Xbox One [NA]
Xbox One
Xbox One [JP]

Philips in2it
Game Master
Game Plus
Ive put some in the other categorie

Philips in2it
Game Master
Game Plus
Ive put some in the other categorie
The Philips in2it was an unreleased handheld that only exists as a rare prototype. Should this really have it's own category?
The Game Master and Game Plus are two variants of the same console, right? There must be some kind of "umbrella" name for them. I mean, it would be weird to have the following setup
Game Master
Game Master HW
Game Plus
Game Plus HW
And since the games are the same between the systems, where would you put them? I suppose then it would be easier to just have
Game Master
Game Master HW
Game Master [EU]
And also put the Game Plus in those categories. Right?

This isn't the case with Xbox One games I believe, they went with 'a game is a game' approach, so there isn't games on demand, indie or arcade. The games on demand for the 360 are just retail games in digital form I believe? Correct me if I'm wrong, so I was requesting a way to separate Xbox one retail games from the digital games, because it seems that's the case with the other platforms? I could be completely wrong but that was the impression I got :)

I disagree on this. The demos sitting in the regular catagories are in the wrong place. They should be moved into the demo category, then it won't be empty.

The in2it isnt as rare as posted on some sites on the internet. Some say there are 5, some say a 100, i say a 500-1000 at least. It is still rare afcourse but most sites dont have a clue. And i have 3 of them. And it isnt about the console, but the software ;).
The Game Master and Game plus aren't compatible. So the cartridge of the Game Plus doesnt fit the Game Master do they look the same.

But, going by that Logic there should then be one "Demo" category for each Region right? When looking at the database now it seems that for every console that has a "Demo" category, it just says "Demo"
-
I asked for this before...
We need a DVD category under "other". Lots of American Laser Games titles were ported to DVD video and there's a bunch of other titles as well.

Yes that is true... maybe it can be done (style wise) that all games in a Demo category (for any console) are default/presumed to be the US release, and any international releases should have the [CountryCode] in the title? Of course, this idea is me thinking that maybe the US demos are more numerous than other countries.

PC:
GameStop
Origin
Even though I hate Origin, doesn't it still count? Also, even though GameStop's app does require one or the other to install and play certain games, there are games that you can download there straightaway.

The only two sites that get their own categories are GOG and Steam, everyone else goes lumped into PC Digital. Some shops, like Gamestop, have their own DRMed up client for specific game downloads but other than that, they're the same game as everywhere. GOG and Steam get their own categories because of the sheer quantity of games available on each platform and the extras.

How about a Gameboy Advance [AU] category?
Hope it's not me who made you to request the Gameboy Advance [AU] category :P - since I have created multiple [AU] versions but had to put it under [EU] category :P

Can we get an ASIA region section for PS3, PS4 and Vita? I've been entering mine under JP, but that isn't right - the ASIA versions are often fully in English.
-
@Mods
It seems no new categories has been added since beginning of January 2015. Are there any plans to add requested categories? I have loads of stuff to add but I'm waiting for the new categories.
-
Not a platform request per-se, but there is no ESRB GA rating that I see. Here is a game that has it:

I have some Commodore 64 games on floppy disks, so it will be nice to have C64 Floppy Disks category.

Any chance Amiibo can be made its own catagory?
-
Hey All,
I was excited to find this sit as I have been collecting for years, but there was no:
Nintendo Entertainment System [AU]
Game Boy Advanced [AU]
Game Boy [AU]
Game Boy Color [AU]
Gamecube [AU]
I love that the community can get involved. Is there anyway the we can help the processes?
-
Any chance Amiibo can be made its own catagory?
I'd like to second this. Perhaps splitting interactive figures into subcategories
- Amiibo [Region] (Maybe split these by series Smash, Super Mario, Animal Crossing, Other)
- Disney Infinity [Region] (Maybe split these into Infinity, Infinity 2.0, and Infinity 3.0)
- Skylanders [Region] (Maybe split these by line as well)
- Interactive Figures [Region] (Because there are probably others like Pokemon Rumble)
Under the Interactive Figures Category.
-
I don't know how difficult this would be but is there any way to split up the lcd games category? I recently got a few coleco tabletop arcade games and just spent 20-30 minutes trying to locate them from the brows page. http://vgcollect.com/browse/lcdgames/2 is where they are located.
Can it be something like:
LCD Games
Coleco Tabletop
Mattel Electronic
ECT.
Or can they just be pushed to there own category like the tiger LCD's were?
-
I would like to see a category like: Video Game Magazines
Like Playstation Magazine, Official Nintendo Magazine, PC Gamer
(Link to Gaming Magazines: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_magazines)
======================
Second suggestion,
I see that there is a GOG.com, a Steam &PC Digital Download subcategory in PC Gaming, but no Origin subcategory. Should i see PC Digital Download as that category?, or will there be room for an Origin subcategory?
-

I would like for the interactive figures to be split up into what they belong to. sky landers, amiibos and Disney infinity.
-
I know we've been talking about an XBox One digital category, but I'm seeing that we also need an XBox One [JP] category, just in case that wasn't mentioned before
-
Made 2 entries for items that need to be moved once the appropriate categories are created.
Xbox [CN]
Fable: The Lost Chapters [CN] (currently in Xbox [JP] category)
http://vgcollect.com/item/92273
Apple Mac OSX (Intel) [EU]
Fable: The Lost Chapters [EU] (currently in Apple Max OSX (Intel) [NA] category)
http://vgcollect.com/item/92276
* this one, when moved to correct category, can have the [EU] removed from title.
NOTE: I made an error on this submission to add [EU] to the title!

Was wondering if the GP32 system could be added to the database as I've just started collecting for it and it's the one system that I don't see on here at all.

Wow. I had never heard of it. Sounds pretty cool. We'll look into adding that for you.

Hi,
maybe it would be great if there would be a category for other Arcade Systems like Taito F3, Namco NA-2, or at least a Section for Jamma PCBs. I noticed that Atomiswave is listed under Arcade Conversion, but CPS-2, S-TV and CPS-1 got their own categories.
