Title: Castlevania 4 (SNES, SFC, SD2SNES)
Post by: mastodon on April 18, 2018, 01:56:53 am
From what I understand the Castlevania 4 SFC version is better the SNES due to censorship of blood. I have also heard the sfc has better sound chips. Is this true? If so would there be a difference in the original sfc cart and a sd2snes?

The sound chip used in both the sfc and the snes is the SPC700, with no differences in audio quality. However, there have been MSU1 game hacks where pre-recorded cd audio ( usually a remix of the game's audio) can be streamed through the spc700 soundchip and replace the regular soundtrack. Those hacks can usually be played w/ a sd2snes or everdrive on your console ( along with emulation).
