Title: E3 2021
Post by: kamikazekeeg on June 02, 2021, 04:09:52 am
E3 is coming up next week and seems about the right time to start talking about what we are hoping to see show up.

What I mostly just want to see out of Nintendo is a big Zelda presentation, a proper 35th anniversary blowout, because you wouldn't know it was the anniversary otherwise as I don't think Nintendo has done much of anything to bring attention to it, which is baffling, not even when they revealed Skyward Sword HD either.  Even if it was a marketing decision and it was so build to more of an actual thing at E3, it's weird that they've done almost nothing to really talk about the anniversary.  So a blowout for me would be the final updated details on Skyward Sword HD and I feel like they would put out the Wind Waker/Twilight Princess HD releases like the month or two after that, since it makes sense and it's easy.

Then I see them doing a collection of some sort, either a batch of the old games from NES to GBA, or they do perhaps an updated version of Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask from the 3DS in a set.  I could also see them just rom dumping and tweaking the N64 releases, but I think it would be cool to get the 3DS stuff since that added a few things here and there and I believe had some updated textures though I might be remembering that wrong.  My only worry is that they pull a Super Mario 3D All Star and it's kind of a half-assed release with a time limit, which is super dumb.

Something that would be a wild card would be a new remake, like Link's Awakening, but maybe the original Zelda or even Zelda 2, but not with that awful Link's Awakening art style I hope.

And the finale would be a proper Breath of the Wild 2 reveal.  I'm keeping expectations low, so I don't believe we'll see a release date for this year, but I'd be happy with a story reveal and maybe gameplay.

I know there's other stuff from Nintendo to watch for like a possible Switch Pro, but the only other known thing I'm excited for is Bayonetta 3.  As long as the Zelda stuff is good, I'll be otherwise happy.

I'll post more on the other companies later, but this at least starts a convo.

I'm interested to see what Sony plans to announce this month outside of E3. Third party studios will have some good announcements at E3 to be sure, but without Playstation there, the show has lost much of its appeal to me as I've been a Playstation gamer since '95. What I'm hoping to see from Playstation are at least one of the following:

  - Uncharted Continuation - This is the top of my wish list. It doesn't have to star Drake but that would be best so long as they don't mess up the ending of the 4th. It could be a prequel to one of the previous games. It could be that someone kidnapped his daughter to force him to help them find something. They could also use one of the other characters; continue with the Lost Legacy crew if they wanted.

 - Warhawk - In the vein of the PS3 game with the WW2 feel.
 - Twisted Metal - Make it as engaging as the 2nd or Black.
 - Jet Moto - I think this would be great to add in to modern gaming.

Now for what I can hope to see from E3 from third parties is basically my usual. I'm honestly not excited for much of anything that's been announced for the coming year or even years. Sure, there's a handful, but I've found that new ideas are generally not what I'm looking for anymore. Seems kinda strange that for the longest time, all I wanted was new ideas, new IPs to explore, and now... I'm over the idea of new. It's why I rather like that so many series are getting modern adaptations or remakes with modern graphics. An odd self reflection to start this with but oh well.

Unannounced games I really want to see:

 - Ninja Turtles - A dark and gritty game similar to the original comics. More realistic graphics. Keep the guys looking similar to their 1990 movie or comic iterations. Have violence, bad guy dismemberment; have them actually use their weapons. Different perceptions and more story revealed depending on which turtle you play as.

 - Dino Crisis reboot/remake - Use the RE engine like RE2 and 3 remake were done in. Keep third person. Keep the RE2/3 remake controls and camera. Mix the first two games into one to extend the game into a great story while ignoring that the third exists. Allow online co-op via Regina and Dylan.

 - Shenmue 4 - Keep it on PS4 and PC. Let Suzuki finish up his story using the same engine as the third game. Don't waste time bringing this to next gen systems with enhanced graphics... just push through and finish the story the way he was hoping so we get an ending. Seriously. Just finish it. The only thing I would critique is get rid of the stamina gauge from the third, but keep everything else the same. It felt like the Dreamcast games which was fantastic.

 - Witcher 4 - I really enjoyed the third and I was new to the series as of that title. I've heard murmurings that a 4th has started development but given the way things turned out for Cyberpunk... I'm not expecting this to release (if it does) until the Playstation 6 days.

Already announced games I'd like more info on:
 - New Mass Effect
 - Ninja Turtles Shredder's Return
 - Tomb Raider continuation
 - Instinction (the only new IP on this entire list)
 - Indiana Jones (confirm if it has a chance in hell coming to PS5 - doubting atm)

Oracle of Ages / Oracle of Seasons remakes in the vein of Links awakening. I really want to know with the switch pro how they are going to continue making games that work on something like that as well as the switch lite. Obviously I want to see more Halo infinite gameplay.
Title: Re: E3 2021

From Microsoft, I'm not expecting much, I'm already getting Halo Infinite since it'll be on PC, but all their big aquisitions aren't bringing too much anytime soon, but what I'm hoping for is either Rare Replay coming to Switch or PC, and for a big wishlist game, I want Banjo-Kazooie 3 finally.  Proper platformer, big hub world, the works, this would be nearly as big as when I got Banjo-Kazooie in Smash, which is a top E3 moment for me.

From Sony, I have a PS5, so just more PS5 games is general is fine, I'm not really expecting a ton of hype there for me personally, but I'm sure they could do a number of things to surprise me, like a return of a cool franchise.  Telekill brought up Twisted Metal and that would be cool to see, but there are others that would be fun. The one big game or update I want to see is for Bloodborne.  It's the last big game that hasn't seen a 60 fps update or PC port at this point.  I wouldn't be surprised if we get a remastered release for it, or a PS5 update and the big surprise is a Bloodborne 2 announcement, which would be amazing.

For general stuff, something on the next Resident Evil remake would be cool, I'm getting Battlefield 6 info before the show on the 9th, so I'm good there, and not sure what else right now that would be super big for me.

I don't really have any expectations or wishes but hopefully Spyro 4 is a thing!

I'll be watching most if not every show. Looking forward to seeing whatever!

I'll check back on this topic for the highlights/lowlights.

Shenmue 4: I really hope this shows up, and while we probably wouldn't get any info on how much it advances the story from 3, my sincere hope is that it concludes the saga. I  always fear that the next Shenmue game might be the last, which is still even true after 3. But I would be ultra hyped if this even got a teaser trailer.

Breath of the Wild 2: I've heard various rumors that this is supposed to be at E3, which that alone would make me extremely happy. What would make me even happier is if it actually got a release date, even a vague one like "Fall 2022" or something like that.

Zelda "All Stars" Collection: As part of Zelda's 35th anniversary I really hope Nintendo gives some of their older Zelda titles the Mario 3D All Stars treatment and releases at least 3 of them on a compilation. Ideally, I'd love to see the two 3DS Remakes and either Windwaker HD or Twilight Princess HD included as well. I'd love to see all four on a single card, but this might be too optimistic.

Gran Turismo 7: I know Sony isn't going to be at E3, but I'm hoping they'll do.a State of Play that coincides with it, and this game is heavily showcased. I've been ultra hyped about GT7 ever since it was revealed about a year ago, and I desperately want more info! It honestly is looking like the best GT game since 4, and if it's even remotely that good I'll love it for sure. More details and maybe a release date would be nice.

Jedi Fallen Order 2: Jedi Fallen Order is my favorite piece of Star Wars media that's been released since Disney took ownership, and otherwise has wrecked the IP. But this game was incredible and I was shocked how much I loved it! This might be my number 1 pick it terms of what I'm most wanting to see and what would get me the most excited. I'm not counting on it, but we'll see I guess.

FF7 Remake Part 2: I doubt this one will get announced since they just released that DLC for the first one, but I'd still be super happy to see it make any sort of appearance no matter how small.

Final Fantasy XVI: I was surprised how good this looked when it was revealed, and I'm eagerly awaiting more info on it. It genuinely seems like FF is starting to rise to its former glory again slowly, an I really hope any additional info on this game makes me feel that way even more.

New Castlevania game: This is in the realm of probably not going to happen, but I would DIE if they announced another Castlevania game. i honestly don't care if it was a 2D metroidvania title or a full 3D AAA game like Lords of Shadow. I just want another release in this awesome series!

KOTOR Remake: This is also one I've heard rumors about, but as long as they don't screw with the story or overall formula of this game too much I'd literally leap out of my chair if this gets announced!

Something I hope to see at E3, would be Marvel vs DC by NetherRealm.  This rumor popped up I think last week or the week before with some solid support behind it (Unlike the My Hero Academia fighter by ArcSys rumor which I found was a 4chan rumor, so guaranteed to be wrong, though them doing that or One Piece in the FighterZ style would be amazing), and it makes a lot of sense really.  WB Games has connections with Marvel through the Marvel games they've helped develop, NR already has the groundwork with DC through Injustice, and somethings caused NetherRealms to break their schedule of releasing, so something as massive as this would be a good reason for that.  I'm not exactly a big fighting game fan, I play them real casually, but I still love real cool game ideas like this and would just be amazing to finally get a Marvel vs DC game for the first time.

We already had a thread for this we posted in. So I guess I'll just copy and paste my reply from that:

My top announcements wishlist:

1. New 2D Metroid
2. New 2D Zelda
3. Shovel Knight 2
4. Elder Scrolls VI
5. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2
6. Dishonored 3
7. Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake
8. New "Metroidvania" Castlevania

Lofty, probably never gonna happen announcements I'd like to see:

-King's Field IV
-Crystalis Sequel
-Mega Man Legends 3
-Bionic Commando sequel (2D or 3D)
-DuckTales 3 (if it was in the DuckTales Remastered style, that would be exquisite!)
-Chrono Trigger 2
-Universal console that plays all disc-based and flash-card games (DS, 3DS, Switch).

Umm.

What I wish from:

- Ubisoft.
Anything related to Rayman, even if it's just a port of Rayman Mini for console, hard to believe sometimes that Rayman used to be Ubisoft most profitable and famous franchise.

Also, if they confirm Beyond Good and Evil 2 will still happen or not.

- Nintendo.
Meh, I do want that new rumoured Donkey Kong game, regardless is 2D again, I just miss that silly gorila.

Whatever is the next fighter for Smash, please not another swordman or anime style character...

- Electronic Arts
New James Pond, it wont happen but one man can dream lol

Bethesda.
They cancelled the mobile Commander Keen, that sincerely I wanted to play, so let's hope they cancelled it for make a proper 2D game... I hope...

- Microsoft
More backwards game for the console, a lot of good games feom Xbox 360 and Original Xbox are still MIA.

Things start tomorrow with the Summer Games Fest at 2pm EST.  This one will have a lot of variety, being run by Geoff Keighly, kind of an extension of The Game Awards, so people are thinking that games that have had connections to that, could happen here, like Elden Ring is a big one, some people are hoping that since WB Games is doing almost nothing this year other than Back 4 Blood, that the new NetherRealms game, rumored to be Marvel vs DC, might happen here if it's going to be shown off at all this year (A good chance it won't mostly because WB Games is in some serious flux right now).  The only thing I know of that is confirmed for it is that the new Evil Dead game is getting it's first gameplay reveal and I'm really hoping that's good.  I'm not super huge into asymmetrical multiplayer, but I love Evil Dead, so I'm very interested.

Well the event didn't give me a lot personally, we did get the full reveal of Elden Ring and it of course looks fantastic, basically open world Dark Souls.  Evil Dead also looked fantastic, it's absolutely what I wanted, which is that kinda Dead by Daylight/Friday the 13th co-op game, but you aren't just running away from stuff, you can actually fight with guns and weapons, and there's one person that can play as a demon that possesses deadites, environments, and even players.  They showed off one demon and it looks like you play as Evil Ash from Army of Darkness.  Also the game looks real good visually too.  A smaller reveal was an enhanced version of Death Stranding, a PS5 port with extra content and likely enhancements, so I'll be buying Death Stranding for a third time lol

Well, the Black Ops Cold War season four update is nice.

Borderlands fantasy spin-off is somewhat interesting.

The new developer Deviation Games from former Treyarch devs partnering with PlayStation could be good.

Plenty more shows to go!

Nothing much for me tomorrow to watch, I know there's a Koch/Deep Silver showing, but not sure if there's much for me there and they already confirmed that nothing Dead Island, Saints Row, Metro, or Timesplitters will be shown.

After that is Saturday, which again is nothing much for me, just Ubisoft, but the only game I'd be looking for is Far Cry 6, but I'm done with Far Cry.

Sunday is a hefty day though, with Xbox/Bethesda, Squenix, and the PC Game Show and I believe the Battlefield 2042 gameplay reveal is happening at the Xbox event.

Monday will have a few things here and there, not too much, I'm only slightly interested in the Capcom event for maybe Monster Hunter news and Resident Evil Village content that has nothing to do with ReVerse.

And then Tuesday is the big Nintendo Direct and then we get the Bandai Namco event which could have some fun stuff perhaps.

A fun bit of E3 adjacent stuff, is that Netflix has been showing off reveals all week, with the new He-Man cartoon which looks good, teasing stuff for Umbrella Academy Season 3, and I guess Zack Snyder is doing an animated viking series, which I don't know if that'll be good or not.  Army of the Dead was pretty poor and I just don't think he's a good director, but don't think he's done anything animated, so we'll see how it goes.

Yeah, I'm 95% sure that Shenmue IV won't be announced this month; maybe even this year. So I'm not that hyped for Deep Silver's showing tomorrow.

I will say that I was surprised at the Jurassic World Evolution 2 announcement. I was considering buying the first one but now I'll just wait for this one. Seems like a lot more game and goes beyond the basic park building concept. Seems they added an entire campaign storyline that goes after the latest movie. You help Malcom and Claire from the movies. I'm betting the graphics will be great considering they looked good on the last one. Color me optimistic.

Yeah, I'm a Souls-head and this really hit the spot for me.  Can't wait.

I love that's they've got characters from all over the franchise - Arthur and Robert the Bruce from AoD, Pablo and Kelly from AvED (and the cop lady from S1!), and some classics in there as well.  What I'd really love to see are Lucy Lawless as a demon from the show and Jane Levy's character from the remake.

Well, it's here folks. Starts in about 2 1/2 hours with Guerilla Collective. Here's today's schedule:

Guerilla Collective - 8 a.m. Pacific
Wholesome Direct - 10 a.m. Pacific
Ubisoft Forward - 12 p.m. Pacific
Devolver Digital - 1:30 p.m. Pacific
Gearbox Entertainment - 5 p.m. Pacific

I don't expect anything interesting today.

Nintendo accidentally announced this ahead of time, but there's a Mario + Rabbids sequel called "Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope", so that's one thing at the Ubisoft event.

Definitely watching Devolver Digital's conference, that's basically the only one I watch almost purely for the conference and less for the games lol

Skipped Ubisoft because I knew they wouldn't have anything for me, but Devolver has some fun things coming out like a cool looking sidescrolling black and white Samurai game, Trek to Yomi, and then Phantom Abyss looks neat as kinda like a hardcore Fall Guys lol

Best thing I've seen today is DLC for Brawlahalla from Ubisoft; they're adding the Ninja Turtles. Originally, I thought that it was a different 2D Ninja Turtles game from Shredder's Revenge as I had never heard of Brawlahalla. I had to look it up. Apparently it's a free to play game on almost all platforms but you'll pay out the rear for micro transactions. Gameplay, it looks like a 2D Smash Bros wannabe.

So the best thing I've seen today.... I'll be passing on and wait for Shredder's Return; the actual Ninja Turtles game.

Got some bigger events tomorrow I'm a little more excited for compared to today.  There isn't much I'm looking for in particular right now from the Microsoft/Bethesda event, I'm interested in Halo, but it's Halo, it's more open world, I don't really need to see anything more from it.  Not too much else I'm expecting and the only thing that could blow me away would be something Banjo-Kazooie related, or hearing that Rare Replay is coming to PC or Switch.  I do think Battlefield 2042 is getting shown off tomorrow, which I'm definitely wanting to see more of.

After that is Square Enix, so I'll be expecting more Final Fantasy XVI, which is mostly it as I'm not expecting them to show off anything FF7Remake Part 2 till next year.

World War Z is a game I've wanted but now it's getting a new version called World War Z: Aftermath so I guess I'll keep waiting.

Splitgate is coming to consoles for free. Halo meets Portal. It's free so might as well check it out.

Watch Dogs Legion - Bloodline looks great. I already own the Ultimate Edition of Watch Dogs Legion and being able to play as Aiden again is part of the reason I bought it.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is something new at least. Not very interested in it if it's only first-person though.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits and Lost in Random both still look good.

Many more shows to go!

I need to play this more, I only played it a short bit on a deep sale I got it for, but maybe when the new content releases, I'll check it out again as it's only 20 bucks to upgrade.

Yeah, I was impressed with what Kena showed off yesterday as well, but it's not a new announcement. Good to see progress being made on that one though.

Today's E3 Schedule:
Pre-show - 8:45 a.m. Pacific
Microsoft + Bethesda - 10 a.m Pacific
Square Enix - 12:15 p.m. Pacific
The PC Gaming Show - 2:30 p.m. Pacific
Future Games Show - 4 p.m. Pacific
Warner Bros. Games and Back 4 Blood - TBD

Out of today's showings I'm more excited for what Square is going to show. I'm really hoping for some Tomb Raider 25th Anniversary news... perhaps HD collection ports of the original games, a remake of the second game, and news on the upcoming continuation that was announced as being in development.

Maybe Warner Bros will show off the Ultimate Ultimate version of Mortal Kombat 11?

For the MS/Bethesda showing, the only thing I want to see is info on the new Indiana Jones.

I'd fallen off Bethesda pretty hard after the outright embarrassing disaster that was Fallout 76, but I'm mildly interested to see how Starfield turns out, seeing them working on an engine that isn't total butts, but hopefully it turns out well.  Out November 22nd, 2022

And yes, give me this STALKER 2 goodness, This game looks so freaking good, this is a hugely anticpated game for me, I hope it actually pans out, this is a similar thing to Bethesda that to get STALKER with a good engine is very exciting.  There's still elements of the gameplay where I'm like "Eh, this seems really scripted", but also I'm just excited that STALKER exists again lol April 28, 2022.

Also I thought the WB Games event was supposed to be about Back 4 Blood only, but I think they've shown off the game twice at this point, so I have no idea what they plan to show there at this point lol

Pirates of the Caribbean crossover makes a lot of sense for Sea of Thieves lol

Just give me Battlefield 2042 now, right now.

Interesting to see Halo split their multiplayer off, but it's a smart idea, gets more people playing if it's free.  I'm board with both now that it's on PC, I haven't played Halo multiplayer since...3? I forget if I played anything with Halo 4, I didn't beat the campaign till way later and I never played Halo 5.  Holiday release this year.

Atomic Heart looks really cool, though no release date?  I feel like we've been seeing this game for awhile now lol

Replaced has a killer art style.  Don't know if I'll get it, but looks super cool.  Out next year.

I really do appreciate that this conference is mostly just reveal after reveal.

Amazing trailer for Outer Worlds 2 lol Don't know if it'll be good, the first one had good ideas, but it wasn't nearly on the level of Fallout, but hopefully with all that Microsoft money, they'll get to really make that big expansive shooter RPG.

Overall a good show, though nothing new shown off was a big surprise for me, mostly just more info on stuff I was already excited for and much of the games are next year.  Bit of a dry show, but can't complain too much.

Square-Enix looking to try and make up for Avengers with a hopefully good Marvel game from them lol I do like that they are moving away from "MCU, but like their stunt doubles" and mixing in some of the comic aspects into the character designs, while still being MCU enough.  October 21st release date, should be fun.

Squenix removing all the music from their games is killing this presentation, even with games that I can't imagine would have music that would get DMCA hit, which is so weird.

A new Final Fantasy game shown off from Koei Tecmo, though I think it's a custom character game and the main guy they picked for it, looked super awful and bland lol Could be fun though, the lack of Final Fantasy XVI being shown off is super disappointing, this was a super bad showing having most of the music removed, like removed, so it's quiet, not just replaced, it's baffling.  Was i tjust the stream I was watching and there was another stream that didn't have that? Like it wouldn't change my opinion on the vent being kinda oddly paced and not a ton of exciting things for me, but still, that was weird.

Psychonauts 2 will probably be good.

I hope Halo Infinite multiplayer somehow makes its way to PS4 since it's free to play. 46.8% of Fortnite's revenue comes from PS4 so if Xbox is trying to recoup that $500 million development cost they might wanna bring it to PlayStation.

Redfall is interesting. I wish Sony locked that down instead of Deathloop or Ghostwire: Tokyo.

Expectations aren't high for PC Gamer but they've been good in the past. Future Games Show may be fine.

So far this E3 is severely lackluster for announcements and showings. Best thing I've seen so far is A Plague Tale 2.

Sony isn't at E3 so no Uncharted announcement.
Bethesda didn't bother showing their Indiana Jones game.
Square didn't bother showing anything related to Tomb Raider.

My globe trotting action/adventure genre hopes are destroyed this E3.

The only possible redemption for me would be tomorrow's Capcom show. If they were to announce a reboot or remake of Dino Crisis, that would excite the hell out of me and I would remember this E3 with some fondness instead of disappointment.

Tinykin from PC Gaming Show looks amazing! Pikmin x Chibi-Robo! Great art style too and it's a 3D platformer rather than a RTS game!

Definitely the best new announcement for me this year. Most stuff I liked has just been updates to games I already know of but this game is brand new.

The developer previously made Splasher which I never played but knew about because of its art style. This plays nothing like that game though.

Holy God, this E3 has been terrible so far. Mostly a bunch of super generic looking games with a few alright ones thrown in here and there. Bethesda actually made me way less hyped about Starfield from that trailer which makes it look like a generic scifi game. I don't think a game has exceeded a 4/10 on the hype meter for me with 1 being the newest Madden game for that year to 10 being my utter meltdown I had when Shenmue 3 was announced in 2015. So far these are really the only games that have interested me

- Jurassic World Evolution 2
- Halo Infinite
- Stalker 2 (never played the first, but the second one looks genuinely cool)
- Elden Ring (not a big Souls series fan, but still can appreciate them)

I really hope Nintendo, Capcom, and 2k knock it out of the park over the next couple days otherwise this might be the worst E3 I've ever watched.

PS. Also really excited about what LRG has on the release schedule this next year so I'll be watching their conference too.

Changed my mind, putting all my hope on Capcom today.  Big bet!  Mega Man Legends 3, Dino Crisis Remake, Godzilla crossover in Monster Hunter Rise, NOTHING CAN GO WRONG WITH THIS! PURE, UNHINDERED, HYPE!

This technically isn't even an E3 game, since it was from the Game Dev Day presentation that occured before E3 started.

They would at least say new announcements or something. They didn't even say "and more!" so I would not expect anything outside of updates on those four games.

You guys are saying things, but I can't really understand it, so I'll just keep on with nothing but maximum hype.

...

But yeah, I'm not expecting any big surprise out of left field lol Just hoping the RE Village talk is more Mercenaries content and has nothing to do with ReVerse, never anything with ReVerse, and then hopefully something really neat for Monster Hunter Rise, but I assume it'll just be whatever the verse Capcom crossover is supposed to be.

*EDIT*
The Resident Evil Village update was that the world will be terrorized by ReVerse next month, a disappointment for all, and that DLC will be coming later on for the main game, which is great, but they just started, meaning it'll be months if not next year for it to come out.  Cool, but unfortunate.

And for Monster Hunter Rise, it's the obvious Monster Hunter Stories 2 collab, which isn't exciting at all, but expected and a small update coming up the 24th.

Oof, closing on esports.  That's real rough.

Yeah, not too much here unfortunately...Oh well.  At least got Nintendo to look forward to tomorrow.

Limited Run Games had a killer show! So many good games and Plumbers Don't Wear Ties too!

The best part of the show was Mega64 recreating the Xbox "wheel of unfairness" but I wish it lasted longer!

I usually talk myself out of buying Limited Run Games games but right now the Shantae collection and Zombies Ate My Neighbors have my interest.

i've considered buying Huntdown, The TakeOver and the Contra Anniversary Collection digitally before so nice to know physical is now an option.

RetroMania Wrestling looked really nice too. I've heard about it for a while but don't think I've seen gameplay until now.

Oh and Limited Run Games had a car on stage but Xbox did not so who really won E3?

Nintendo is the last big event tomorrow and at this point, just give me the new Smash reveal and Breath of the Wild 2.  I'll be happy enough with that lol  Would like a surprise at Bamco, but not expecting too much there.

Wasn't too impressed by the LRG E3 show but there was some good stuff. Will definitely pick up the Castlevania SoTN/Rondo of Blood collection, Zombies Ate my Neighbors/Ghoul Patrol, and maybe the Contra Collection.

Was hoping for Fez, Spelunky 2, possibly Firewatch on Switch, or something along those lines.

The only event I watched is the one for the Amico and because it was just 9 minutes.
It looks better than expected but I certainly don't feel like paying 250$ for it, but... let's see what happens in the future.

Microsoft allowed me to buy 3 months gamepass for 1$ careless I have been a Gamepass user in the past, so I am with the team that their conference has been the best one.

I have expectations for Nintendo.
Like that rumored Donkey Kong 3D game.

I don't like LRG anymore but the physical Contra, Castlevania and the re-release for Rondo of Blood for Turbo Duo sounds great, I will consider buying it.

Kazuya in Smash is fun, Tekken is definitely a great choice to have as another big fighting game franchise representation.

Metroid Dread, what a great name.  I've never been a huge fan of Metroid, I've just never played it really outside of the first Prime.  No clue if I'll check it out, but seems kinda cool.

Wow, I forgot about SMTV and that it was revealed over 4 years ago lol

I never did play Fatal Frame 5 beyond the demo on Wii U, so I might consider this if it is a cheaper release.

Wait, did they just pull a Pokemon Let's Go with Skyward Sword and that analog controls are only allowed in handheld or did I hear that wrong?  I don't think I'm gonna buy it if they did, that's so damn stupid.  Also a small collection of Zelda games...but only on a Game & Watch? This is not what I want...And they only give a half-hearted nod to the 35th anniversary and saying they have nothing else planned? I mean, they could be bullshitting with that and we'll get a full Zelda event soon, but this weird underselling of the anniversary is confusing.  This is not how I wanted the Zelda portion to be.

At least we are getting something Breath of the Wild 2 and it looks real cool.  2022 release is not unexpected either.  Man, Nintendo undercutting their pretty alright event for me with the starting Zelda stuff, but at least it ended well.  Overall an okay event, nothing too amazing for me in particular, but it was consistent and well paced.

I think overall, I'd probably say Nintendo had the nicer event, even if I wasn't too excited for much of it, though Microsoft had some good stuff by showing off more Halo, STALKER 2, and Battlefield 2042.  Definitely a very low key E3 this year.

Nintendo was so bad. Extremely lazy Mario Party and they made WarioWare look slow and boring. Seems like all microgames will be designed for two players which ruins the single player experience. Nothing else interested me.

I would have liked to see an update to get me to play Animal Crossing, Splatoon 3 even though I expect that at the Nintendo Direct in September, a new 3D Donkey Kong or maybe even Kirby. Maybe Mario Kart? Maybe a AAA new IP like Arms was? Maybe an update to the awful NSO service?

Those are all reasonable things I would have liked to see.

Bandai Namco is the last event to watch for E3, though I thought I heard that it might not be much of a showing, mostly just focusing on House of Ashes, which would be boring, but I can't find anything specific on that in particular as otherwise I'm figuring it's mostly just like...Scarlet Nexus, Tales of Arise, something for DBZ: Kakarot, probably nothing new for Elden Ring, and while I'd hope for a surprise, I've learned with this E3 to keep my expectations fairly low lol
Title: Re: E3 2021

That was an above average direct, big surprises with Metroid and WarioWare, but with the way the rest of E3 was that also made it far and away the best showing of the entire event.

I really enjoyed Nintendo's E3 presentation. Super pumped for Metroid Dread. If it plays like Samus Returns I'll be happy, looks like it's based on the same engine, and it will have some extra buttons to work with as well going from the 3DS to the Switch.

I'm really interested in the WarioWare and Super Monkey Ball games as some fun party options. SMTV looked really cool too, don't know much about the series, but I'd like to try it out. Would love to try out that Advance Wars collection as well.

The only thing that was dissapointing was the Zelda news. Had really high hopes for a bigger announcement than a 50 dollar Game and Watch, of all things.

I've watched most E3's since 2007 and this was by far the worst one. But here we go with my take on all the conferences I unfortunately watched.

Ubisoft: D

I admittedly don't like Ubisoft or really any of their games, but the lack of any big announcements beyond what we already knew they were working on made this even more boring than their conferences typically are. At least it wasn't between them and EA being the worst conference like it is most years.

Gearbox: F+

They literally spent half their presentation talking about a movie. Then they talked about stuff we already knew about. No big reveals, nothing to get excited about.

XBOX/Bethesda: B-

This actually felt like an E3 conference, mostly. They revealed new games, they released new trailers and info on highly anticipated games that had been announced (Starfield, HALO Infinite), and just overall it was a decent show. My only gripes had to do with wishing their premiers were bigger and more exciting. Truth be told, the Starfield trailer actually made me less hyped since it just made that game look like a generic scifi game. But we'll see what the future holds with that one.

Warner Bros: F

Pretty much just talked about one game. Not really a conference, but would have been nice to get some more info on Harry Potter Hogwarts game and MK11's future.

PC Gaming Show: B-

This was a pretty entertaining conference. Likable hosts, cool sets, fun premise, it was just enjoyable to watch from a production standpoint. Some cool game reveals and more info on other PC titles that have already been announced. My gripes with them is really nothing groundbreaking or amazing was announced, but for what it was, it was pretty good.

Square Enix: D

Rereleases, info on games that are already out, and mobile game trash was mostly all this conference was about. The big reveal was that Final Fantasy hack and slash game which I'm just going to call FF: Kill Chaos since that's pretty much what stuck with me when it premiered. Not a great conference.

Take Two: F--------

This was literally, without any question the worst E3 presentation of all time. Literally no games talked about, revealed, nothing. It was an hour long college lecture. And look, I'm not knocking the subject matter; I'd literally have disliked it just as much if they spent an hour discussing the lack of cheat codes in modern gaming. E3 is meant to show off new games and considering this is the company that owns the rights to the GTA and Red Dead series there could have been something here, but there was literally nothing. I honestly thought I was watching some sort of post/pre show discussion at first, but no, that was there presentation. WTF...

Capcom: D-

Talked about games that are already out and stuff we already knew about. Nothing groundbreaking or interesting and it was over way too fast. The host was ultra annoying too.

Nintendo: B

This was definitely the best big company conference this year. Between awesome reveals like Metroid Dread, Advanced Wars Remakes, Monkey Ball compilation, new Warioware, and of course a new BotW2 trailer I was pretty happy with it overall. My only gripes were wanting at least a title for the new Zelda game, which if that isn't ready to reveal yet I doubt this game is getting a 2022 release, but we'll see. Also would have liked to see another big AAA reveal like Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, or a Mario Kart 9. Still I liked it and was not disappointed.

Namco/Bandia: F

Pretty much talked about one a game for 10-minutes.

and finally, I saved the best for last....

Limited Run Games: A-

First off, the presentation was freakin hilarious and I loved how it mocked the stupid PR bullshit in the other big companies' presentations. But of course the reveals are what stole the show for me. There were only a handful of games announced that I didn't have that much interest in, but everything else is going to be a definite buy. When they announced Rondo/SotN coming to PS4 I lost my shit even though I was halfway expecting it. Also freaked out when Dusk was announced to get a physical release. And then of course there was the BIG reveal of Plumbers don't wear Ties. I'm not a huge 90s AMV fan, even for their unintentional humor, but I've always wanted to try this game and seeing how I have no desire to buy a 3DO or this game for it, this looks like a good opportunity.

But anyhow, there is my impression of E3 2021 which was overall a colossal piece of crap. Here are the top 5 games from this year's conference for me not including LRG announcements since the list would pretty much just be stuff they revealed is getting a physical release.

1. Breath of the Wild 2
2. Metroid Dread
3. Jurassic World Evolution 2
4. Halo Infinite
5. Advance Wars 1 + 2 remakes
Title: Re: E3 2021

Looking back, I think other than wanting to see more from specific games like Elden Ring, Breath of the Wild 2, STALKER 2, and Halo, there wasn't a lot of new that excited me.  Battlefield 2042 was great to have there and I'm excited for it, Evil Dead could be fun, Death Stranding: Director's Cut I'm a sucker for, and Guardians of the Galaxy has some potential, and that's mostly it.  I don't think there was a single big surprise for the show at all, which is real unfortunate.  This could possibly be one of the weaker E3's I've seen in modern memory for me, I'd have to check to see what E3 did last year as I forget, but yeah, super low key year.

When you take into account that all the game Dev Day stuff wasn't E3 (it's a separate event using E3 to help boost it's profile) it takes a massive hit, as that includes Elden Ring, Evil Dead and Death Stranding.

That's very true, I forgot that wasn't technically E3, though I kinda consider sorta everything around it as "E3" anyways as it's basically just a week long gaming fest, but if I took that out, things are definitely lessened as Elden Ring was the most hype for me.

Nintendo killed it for me! Finally a new 2D Metroid!!!

That alone was worth E3, even if the rest of it kind of sucked.

Not only that, but we finally get an update on Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2. More Hyrule Warriors is always a good thing, as well. And I didn't realize that Skyward Sword would support controller play. That has me much more interested in it.

Strange Brigade looked cool. I hadn't heard of it before, but it's already on Xbox One, so I just ordered that. I did the same with Strife after hearing about it somewhere in E3, it's already been ported to the Switch.

Other than Nintendo:
Halo: Infinite looks cool, of course, but we already knew about that. Sonic Colors Ultimate is nice, though not sure it's worth re-buying it. And Guardians of the Galaxy looks interesting, but I'm gonna have a wait and see approach with it after that abysmal Avengers game Square-Enix put out.

Metroid Dread was the highlight of the entirety of E3. I also may pick up Life is Strange, dashv has been trying to get me to play it for a while now, so I might give in now that it’s going to be on the Switch. I’m a little disappointed that there isn’t much more for Legend of Zelda’s 35th anniversary, but I’ll get over it. I’m also bummed because I thought that someone, somewhere, would say something about LEGO Star Wars. I’ve had it preordered and fully paid off for about a year now. I’m feeling like I gave GameStop a $60 interest-free loan for no reason. Maybe I’ll see if I can just move it to Metroid, since that will actually come out soon.  Limited Run has some fun stuff coming too, I’m sure I’ll wind up picking up a few.

I didn’t have time to watch them all, but I did for a few.

Nintendo fucking slayed it. Metroid Dread alone was worth it, but add the Zelda Game & Watch, SMT V (finally!) and the ports of Fatal Frame, Mushihimesama, Espgaluda 2, and Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu, and my mind was simply blown.

Limited Run Games always have sketchy videos, but decent game reveals. This year they had neither. That wasn’t “funny”, it was sheer stupid. Also, the games they announced, outside of those which frankly should go retail, were awful. What a pile of garbage.

Nintendo was pretty fun.
And they announced some interesting stuff like a new Cruisn", I knew it could pay being one of the few persons that liked the Wii game, haha.

Metroid Dread is also great, I don't think anyone ever expected that cancelled project to come back, I think this is what I needed for consider buying a Switch again.

The Zelda Game&Watch looks fine and it's cool it includes Link Awakening but I consider a truly lost golden chance not incluiding the Zelda G&W game from the 80s that nowadays goes for like 500$ and more, some people mentioned the fact the game is double-screen but then again, G&W Gallery 4 for GBA included it.

So, that's for me.
I liked Microsoft and Nintendo.

I hoped for a new "real" Metroid and it looks as if they may deliver.

SE pissed me off with the pixel upgrades of Final fantasy 1-6 and then put that crap on Steam which already has the games on it.  >:(

LRG had a few great announcements. One no one has mentioned is Axiom Verge 2 for consoles. It was originally only going to be on PC and seeing as its literally one of the best metroidvanias in existence, Im glad to get the sequel. Also Im hyped for Castlevania Requiem and Contra collection.

They're doing what they're calling a "pixel remaster", so likely original graphics but tweaked a bit for more detail & crispness. What's stupid is it's just for mobile and Steam, not the consoles.

I must have missed those SHMUP announcements! I've played them all many times before, but to know they're still getting new ports is encouraging. I really hope Cave actually makes a new SHMUP soon, it's been nearly a decade since their last.

As for LRG's conference we must have viewed two different things. Aside from a handful of announcements nearly everything they went over looked amazing. I've played some of the indie titles they announced and they're freakin amazing retro throwbacks. And yes, the Konami stuff was definitely the show stealer. The Plumbers Don't Wear Ties finale wasn't how I would have ended it, but I'd be lying if it didn't surprise me. As for the humor it wasn't for everyone. I found it funnier than shit, but then again I'm a fan of that cringe humor or as someone mentioned it was very Tim and Eric like. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was the most excited and hyped I got during this year's E3.

The current state has nothing to do with Nintendo, it's retailers not wanting to oversell.  The last few "chase" Ninty products have had the exact same thing happen with pre-orders only for stock to sit on shelves once it actually released.

Limited Run Games always have sketchy videos, but decent game reveals. This year they had neither. That wasn’t “funny”, it was sheer stupid. Also, the games they announced, outside of those which frankly should go retail, were awful. What a pile of garbage.

I must have missed those SHMUP announcements! I've played them all many times before, but to know they're still getting new ports is encouraging. I really hope Cave actually makes a new SHMUP soon, it's been nearly a decade since their last.
The Cave shooters were announced in the Japanese-only direct, but Mushihimesama is on the NA eShop, and the other two are coming as well.

That’s not a new game, nor is it a new announcement. It’s a compilation of G Darius and Dariusburst, and they’ve already been available (at least individually) long before E3.

Nintendo won, no doubt, but after watching the trailer for Metroid Dread that's literally all I care for. It took nearly two decades, but we finally got a proper sequel to the series, getting a game that almost never was. I'm ecstatic that they didn't abandon the original premise that they had envisioned all those years ago - this is a definite day one purchase for me.
