The thread for everything Psychonauts.
I am planning on starting tomorrow. Unfortunately this game is tough to find in the Dallas area. It was all over Tulsa. :( I may pick it up on XBLA though. What's everyone else playing on?
-
I actually never played Psychonauts, this would be a great opportunity to get to that.
I have it on Steam, so I guess that's what I'll play it on.
-
I also have it on Steam, so that's the platform of choice for me. Unfortunatley I still havent been able to afford fixing my desktop. So, no idea on how well it will play on the laptop... Hopefully it isn't a complete failure.
I've also never played it, so this gives me a reason to look into it. :)

I also have it on steam, guess I'll be installing when I get home from work!
-
I already 100%ed the damn game. 8)
Sorry, I'm out this month. >_>
-
Let's hope I can get some footage of this one captured. I've played a little and enjoyed what I have played. Plus anything with Richard Horvitz voicing immediately has my attention.
-
I have it on Xbox and Steam... the original has the harder meat circus, is that right? *looks at Foxhack*
Definitely play with a controller if you're playing on the comp. I'm not a platformer, so trying to jump directionally with a keyboard and mouse... no way.

...and I just actiaved my new CC. Debating on buying a video card for the desktop...
-
I've been wanting to pick this one up. I have to now :D
-
I've got the PS2 version.
TBH, it's pretty deep in my backlog, atm though...

Same. Recently, too.

Since I didn't get to making the video like I wanted to I'll just do a quick write up here. (Thinking next game I'll just do another let's play style?)
Psychonauts is fantastic! I mean, this game has really held up will. The characters and art style remind me of a lot of 90's Nicktoons, which was the main thing that got me interested. But the story was what kept me going. Clever and funny writing. Fun level design. I'll defiantly be replaying it in the future.

I failed at this VGConnect and didn't play Psychonauts at all. This July and August have been the busiest we have ever been at work and I haven't had much time to to anything.
-
I didnt play this either. I started last month's on like the 3rd day and havent had much of a game time chance since. Hopefully next month offers an option to force me to play. :D
-
Well, that makes me feel better about not being able to make the video I wanted. But like I said I'm gonna try to focus on just a "Let's Play" style instead. At least I can with stock footage of Psychonauts to use later for something.

I played it a bit. I wasn't really feeling it.
I like the basic gameplay, and the actual levels are nice, but I got kind of annoyed at the open-world place between the levels, and found the pacing to be a bit slow. I played through a couple levels, but kinda got bored with it. It's fun, but I'm not getting into it. I believe that if I had played it around release I'd like it a lot more.

I can totally see that. I felt that way when I picked it up again a few months ago on Steam. I'd originally played it closer to release, and it was just so pretty and full of interesting dialogue and jokes that the exploration at the beginning was a lot of fun. The initial sandbox feel was still new and intriguing back then.
Once you start doing levels, you really start to appreciate the design and quirkiness of the game. All the levels are so different but so fun and creative.
I still want to go back and play it but I don't think I'll be able to play much of anything for the next month or two (August was super busy as well for me).
In related Psychonauts news, Double Fine announced Psychonauts figurines for sale at PAX. Definitely gonna check it out when I'm there.
