Modern Video Games / Re: State of Play | March 9, 2022 thoughts?

I can't even remember what else they announced in the State of Play beside the TMNT The Cowabunga Collection.

That being said, I wish they would make a collaboration with Pizza Hut again and include coupons for Pizza like the original TMNT 2 The Arcade game release, it would be fun, ha.

Nope, we have plenty of them over here, but most are either stuff no one cares about or pretty pricey.

We also have problems selling that stuff over here because people is pretty toxic when it comes to sell old games for more than 30$ bucks.

Pretty hilarious, though, people that buys all that stuff is always pretty picky about if the game is real or not, and is common seeing people opening the cartridges for verification in the retro stores before paying for the game.

Yes.
But is mostly because I constantly feel I should be doing something else, for example I spend too much time reading and trying to learn stuff I am interested since I have never liked the idea of just talk about one thing in particular, and sometimes when I am trying to draw for hobbie that actually consumes a lot of time.

Still, I always attempt to beat and play new games, even in the most stressful days, a quick Tetris match or another Yu-Gi-Oh duel is still pretty entertaining.

• Survival Day Zero for Nintendo 64, it's a cancelled Konami game that was about 70% completed.
•I always wanted to see the port of Heart of Darkness for GBA.
• Project Hammer for Wii.

Switch is 5 years old? Time sure flies, isn't it?
I still remember the first time I saw the console and how much I wanted one but my income couldn't allow myself to get one, after 4 years in the market I could finally get a Switch Lite.

I still play with it too often and it helped a lot to make me feel love again for handheld gaming, most of the time after the job I am way too tired so just lay down in the bed and keep playing is something I am pretty thankful about.

About criticism for the console I don't have nothing else to say that we don't know already, personally I dislike the console don't have basic stuff like manually pause downloads or for example how slow is the eshop to navigate and find games.

There also the Nintendo Switch Online subscription, I don't have problems at all with the normal one but the expansion pack is something that I still feel disappointed, I believe I said this once but the day after Nintendo announced the price, I called a friend that sells videogames and told him to please send me his cheapest Nintendo64 available because it was just a way better idea have the original hardware than paying for the expansion pack.

From there, while with some clear rough edges... I believe Nintendo Switch is mostly a good console.

Some of my favorite games are.
- Super Bomberman R (Online)
- Contra Rouge Corps
- Skelattack
- GetsuFumaDen Undying Moon
- Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel
- Solomon Program
- Súper Power Pro Kun R
- Tokimeki Memorial 4 Girls Side
- Momotaro Densetsu Switch
- Team Sonic Racing
- The Legend of Zelda BOTW
- Super Mario Odyssey
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
- Yooka Laylee and the impossible Lair.
- Oddworld Abe's Odyssey New n Tasty.
- Rayman Legends Definitive Edition
- MacBat 64
- Toki Remake
- Splasher
- Lode Runner Legacy
- Arcade Archives in general.

And more.
What are yours?

Happy 5th anniversary.

I missed a lot my PS2 and since I finished getting games for the Nintendo64, I am planning to buy again a lot of PS2 titles.

I have noticed a lot of games that I like but they are not popular or pretty well regarded so I am interested to talk about the subject in a thread.

If the game has the case I keep them.
If don't and they are from games with a date from last week and the name of game being from "Super Mario Galaxy" to "Mario Game Wii Super".

I have no problem considering it recycle material.

Classic Video Games / PlayStation Vita turns 10 years old.

Well.
PlayStation Vita it's 10 years old, sincerely I can't tell almost anything about the device because I never had one and I am almost completely uninterested on it.

I remember that 10 years ago I tried to find some for sale just to find the local stores asked some ridiculous prices for the cheaper one... so I went with a Nintendo 3DS and called it a day.

The life for Vita was quite unfortunate and a common discussion theme in Forums or similar was the failure of the console in sales and how Sony quickly cut all the support for just focusing on PS4.

Still if there something clear is that the console had a strong niche support and while sales were never spectacular in NA/Europe, the console actually used to sell an important number of copies in Japan that convinced Sony to still manufacturing it for at least a half decade.

From there I can't say much more about the Vita.

I admire the great support that it had from fans and while 3DS sold much more, Vita still has new games coming soon while that 3DS stopped receiving more a long time ago.

In the homebrew community, Vita is a good emulation device and it's pretty useful if you want to use it for play PSP games.

While limited, Vita had some success and possibly is still the favorite console for a respectable number of users.

Happy 10th anniversary.

Clearly looks like a product for eSports, though that is obviously, I don't mind the logo but it doesn't have punch at all.

Anyway, the problem is that if the game needs to be online, I am not confident they will take care again for the content for single player, maybe this time the Arcade Mode will be there day one, I guess.

I sold SFV but if they put this game on Xbox I will probably get it because I feel nostalgia for the franchise.

Classic Video Games / Re: The brief story of the Zelda 3 NES Hoax.
« on: February 20, 2022, 01:55:47 am »
- Answering to @mastodon.

There some stuff I omitted because I didn't want to extend it more or I assume some people already know it, but Zelda 3 or what eventually became ALttP never existed at all for NES.

Curiously there was also a hoax for a SNES prototype and that one actually had some fake gameplay but that one also was quickly debunked.

Since I want to add something extra to the subject with the NES one.

I found this fake pic for someone else that tried... and I like it but because it looks really eerie.

Classic Video Games / The brief story of the Zelda 3 NES Hoax.

Nowadays the sole concept of making up stories about false videogames and such is completely pointless, of course because we have the tools and information for quickly verify if something is fake or not, but 20 years ago it wasn't that easy, so stuff like someone finding "the mysterious prototype from this classic game" was more believable, so let's remember this time the brief story of the fake Zelda 3 prototype.

If you are wondering why I said brief is because the story and what actually happened is not as clear as it used to be because at least 3 of the most important pages that talked about the subject are now extinct, possibly because the owners either deleted or stopped paying the domains but searching for information in other places...

Note: Wayback machine was used but I didn't found what I was looking for.

The story started when a gaming website named "Joystiq" posted an article about the recent auction of a mysterious cartridge labeled as "Zelda 3 The Triforce Saga" on Ebay.

While there were some doubts about if this was legitimate, the seller identified as "Richard Vialoux" tried to push the idea it was real posting photos for the labels of the prototype showing information like the year of production and version, of course this was easy to fake but the detail that started some expectations was a photoshopped pic of a NES playing the cartridge and a screen showing the title screen with the name of "The Legend of Zelda The Triforce Saga".

Against all odds, the auction for the game ended with a generous amount of almost 3000$ and supposedly ended in hands of an user under the name of "Knight7".

This story could have ended in this point, but the seller "Richard Vialoux" for some reason bothered to inform the "Joystiq" website that he strongly believed that the buyer would be part of the long defunct game developer "Sillicon Knights", this information while vague was included as a part of the article talking about the outcome.

While most gaming companies could've just ignored a random mention in a subject like this, Sillicon Knights actually contacted Joysticq clarifying that "Knight7" was not part of the company and asked politely to correct the article talking about their involvement with the subject.

This is where this story ends.

I believe is important mentioning that while searching information and reading old comments is clear the skepticism was high and most people never bought the story.

What happened with Richard Vialoux, this fake cartridge and Knight7 is still a mystery to this day.

I hope you enjoyed reading this story, personally I have always been fascinated by stories about videogames and from the 90s and 2000s.

I also want to take this moment for say that I am always thankful for the people that always brother to comment and I apologize if I don't always reply.

Thank you for reading.

General / Re: Will you be sad when Gamestop goes out of business?
« on: February 18, 2022, 02:55:01 am »
I don't care about Gamestop but mostly because I don't have one in my country, but I am sure I have bought some imported ebay games that have their price label.

About GameStop itself I am not sure, they have a good number of controversies and I still read rather often people that bought brand new games just for get a disc/cartridge inside a generic case or sleeve.

Anyway since we are on topic...
I do feel nostalgia for Blockbuster, if there something I romanticize a lot is these fridays nights with Pizza Hut, some rentals and watching documentaries about my favorite retro games.

I guess I miss these simple times.

Pop 'n Taisen and other rare Konami games for PS2.
Pop 'n Taisen is not specially uncommon or expensive at all, but the last time I checked up... the iso wasn't available online  or there were copies for sale besides one specific that is the one that I bought.

I should consider someday ripping the iso and submit it myself somewhere.

I just put them in the bookshelf.

But last year just because I felt nostalgic I put all the Nintendo64 games I bought in a cut old shoes box, for some reason it remembered me from the humbleness of just put the cartridges there for quick access...

Recently I just thrown out the shoes box and I am using a plastic one that looks better, and sincerely makes the room looks clean.

Life could be so simple...

I thought it could be sooner.
I can't think about a Nintendo console that don't become better after hacking it...

This certainly open the question if Switch is going to the same path after the next Nintendo console is out, I wish Nintendo would take Microsoft idea and just make sure from Switch to future consoles everything will be a same platform.
