Sometime I like a game but the popular opinion is that it's bad are their any games you liked even though you think your the only one who did? Well here is my list.
Nintendo
Festers Quest
Wrath of the black Mantra
Strider
Xexyz
Super Nintendo
Lagoon
Final Fantasy mystic Quest
Rival Turf
X-Kaliber 2097
Sega Genesis
Centurion Defender of Rome
James Buster Douglas Knockout Boxing
Sega Dreamcast
Hidden & Dangerous
Xbox 360
Enchanted arms
Spectal Forces 3
Call of Juarez
Ps2
Extermination
Xbox One
Generation Zero
Strange Brigade
Ps4
Order 1886
These games may not be perfect but for the price I feel they're worth a play. Do you like any games you feel are underappreciated?

Friday the 13th on NES is not a very intuitive game, but once you know what to do, it's actually not bad. Bordering on really good.
Similar thoughts on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It's very difficult, probably too difficult, but it's not bad. And the dam isn't that tough.
-
NES
-MagMax (same music throughout the game, oh geez..., but I love them shooters :) )
-Dragon's Lair (ya, the infamous non-intuitive drawbridge beginning stage of the game that everyone hated, but once I got past it, I felt some real accomplishment 8) )
-
I stand by the fact that Jaws is fun.
-
-Mega Man X6 (the level design and nightmare system are so poorly thought out, I find enjoyment in it's absurdity.)
-Mega Man & Bass (not a huge fan of the stage select set up, but I personally don't have a huge problem with the game and usually end up playing as Mega Man whenever I go back to this game, especially if it's the GBA version.)
-Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 (while bloated, I didn't find the game to be any worse or better than the two Sonic Adventure games. Plus it's more or less Sonic Adventure 3; same structure and another unnecessarily dark/serious story)
-Jaws NES (found it to be an inoffensive RPG-like little romp)
-Virtual Boy games (people always get stuck on the interesting but extremely flawed hardware, but most of the 22 games for the console range from great to average. Games like VB Wario Land, Jack Bros., and Innsmouth no Yakata deserve to be tried by more people...just preferably on an emulator.)
-Legend of Spyro games (I found the games to be short and fun enough that the repetitiveness didn't bother me. Didn't get too far in the third entry though.)

I would love to find a version of that MagMax that someone has customized with some actual good music lol It's not particularly a good game, but I remember liking it as a kid.
For me...Quest 64 maybe? It's been a long while since I've played it, but I remember people not liking it, but I sorta enjoyed it. I'd probably not be into it anymore, but someday I'll go back to play it.

NES
Bart vs the World - I always had fun with most of the early Simpsons games.
SNES
Maximum Carnage & The Death and Return of Superman - Before I ever got into comic books I only had a basic understanding of Supes and Spidey. I found the stories in these two games amazing and it hooked me right away.
Not Seperation Anxiety though... Didn't really care for that one.
Genesis
Comix Zone - I have honestly never seen anything like that before where you can bust through the borders of a comic.
Sega CD
Double Switch - the story was intriguing, I only wish there was an option that let you watch each scene without being interrupted. Again, I was not up to date on my pop culture so I had no idea who Corey Haim was.
-
The Order: 1886 is great.
-
I stand by the fact that Jaws is fun.
Yeah, I think this is another misjudged LJN title. Like Ft13th it doesn't really explain anything, but once you understand what's going on it's not so bad.

I almost said this as well. I beat it back in 98 or so, and had fun. I've got a feeling it has aged like garbage, though.
Maximum Carnage
I thought people generally liked this one?
-
Alpha Protocol - it's buggy and clunky, but I enjoyed it so much that I played it four times in a row, achieving the platinum trophy along the way.
-
Duke Nukem Forever.
I mean, it could have been WAY better, but it's far from being as bad as people make it looks like...
-
Atari 2600 - Pac-Man. Some people put this next to ET in level of badness, but I actually got some enjoyment out of it. The ghost flicker didn’t bother me (I mean, they’re GHOSTS after all...)
NES - The Three Stooges, WWF Wrestlemania Challenge
GB - Castlevania The Adventure. Yeah, it’s really slow, but I got used to it. I was able to beat it fairly regularly.
Genesis - Pit Fighter, Super Thunder Blade
PS1 - WWF In Your House
Oh, and for the record, MagMax is actually a lot of fun.
-
NES - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and A Nightmare on Elm Street
SNES - Mega Man & Bass
Genesis - 3D Ballz/Ballz 3D (whatever it’s called) and Sonic 3D Blast
PS2 - Spyro: Enter The Dragonfly
GBA - Mega Man & Bass
PS4 - Mighty No. 9
-

I heard the difficulty turned people off. I never thought it was that hard though, I liked those kind of brawlers. While I had no idea who any of them were, I liked the character icons you could pick up and use.
-
I thought Festers Quest was alright, but I only played the PAL version and from what I understand it has some improvements.
NES
Nightmare on Elm Street, but it seems like public opinion on it is shifting. It's one of the most atmospheric games on the system imo, very spooky game.
Parodius, people don't like it because of all the slowdown; if you can look past it I think it's one of the most fun shmups on the NES.

(edit) The Single Player Campaign of
Call Of Duty Ghosts 1 for PlayStation 3 NA version, I like this game it's a Call Of Duty Game not like the other ones. Sometimes you are controlling an attack dog, in first person instead of a human and in another mission you need to get past a school of sharks without touching or harming them in any way.
The only part I didn't like was the swimming past the sharks part, but somehow I managed to get past it even though I didn't think I would,. In this one mission you are under water and you are in a tight space. and you need to swim past a whole lot of sharks swimming in a circle above you, you can't use any of your weapons. And That part of the game looks intimidating, But if you focus on each of the sharks movements you can get past it easy.
another flaw is the AI of the dog, when you are not controlling the dog and the fact that if the dog gets killed. You need to do certain parts of some of the missions over again. if I remember correctly if you never tell the dog to attack you won't fail the mission as easy.
the only thing I don't like about Call Of Duty Ghosts 1 is the fact that no sequel of that game has been created yet. post date 10-5-2020
because the story in the end of the campaign leaves you on a haingnail,

I recently played and completed The Last of Us II. There has been so much negativity surrounding this game but I believe it is a masterpiece, right up there
with the first game. It is a beautiful exposition of love, and what a person will do for those they love in a harsh, unforgiving world. Many people hate the Abby character but I grew to like her. That is all I will say since I don't want to spoil anything else for those who haven't played it yet.

The majority of people think it's a good game, there's just some folks who have issues with its story and characters, and a number of them disliked the game before it came out because they ruined the game for themselves or fell for some of the misinformation that was spreading due to leaks. It's objectively a pretty good game, as even if someone has issues with where the story went, it looks incredible, it's acted very well, and the gameplay is a notable improvement over the first game. I have some of my own issues with the game, but its absolutely a good game.

I stumbled across one leak and then some of the misinformation, but it didn't really affect the game for me at all since that misinformation wasn't an actual negative to me and was actually wrong, and then the leak didn't matter much since it happens early in the story.

I have a real soft spot for awkward 3d platformers- I really enjoyed Vexx- it was basically emo mario 64. I can still hear the uppercut sound effect in my head. Also I really enjoyed Stuntman- it's incredibly unforgiving and the cars control like shit- but what an original concept- My cousin and I unlocked all the extra track parts so we could make our own courses. James Bond Agent Under Fire- this game is really not very good- but man I played the shit out of it as a kid- bond games were my fav- thankfully they got better and I still have nostalgia for it.
Dark Cloud and Okage Shadow King are two of my favorite rpgs ever- and both get trashed on the regular- numerous flaws but both are really really good- i recommend the ps4 ports for trophy support
Does God Hand count? I know popular opinion has shifted favorably to this one in recent years but upon release, it got slammed by critics- i still bought it new and it's one of my all time favorite games.
-
I'm seeing some legitimately good games in these list that are definitely not considered bad at all. critqued by many because they are worth playing but otherwise far far from trash
also how the hell is comix zone genesis considered a bad game. last time I checked it's usually a top 10 genesis game a classic must own for the system. :o
god hand would btw still be slammed today by critics and casuals.
God hand is a game catered for the hardcore if your not into that kinda stuff your going to hate it QOL and it being accesible are an absolute no go in god hand, that's a recipe for disaster if your wanting to have amazing sales and positive reviews general consensus wise. It's just that in more recent times the correct audience has been playing this game more and more and casual audience has plenty of other stuff to play to not even bother looking up god hand or avoiding it since it's not their stuff.
Most people that especially play god hand today seek especially that hardcore experience so naturally reviews get more positive than. also especially if your coming from okami a very sizable chunk will fall off and hate god hand. same creators high expectations but god hand doesn't cater to a large audience like okami does.
-
The only two games that come to mind are Castlevania 64 and Men in Black II: Alien Escape for PS2. While I haven't finished either, I did enjoy the time I spent playing them.

I mean I did specifically include the caveat in my post that some public sentiment has changed on God Hand since release. Bad and Good are subjective terms. Upon release, the game got slammed, does that make it bad? There are games that were good or great 20 years ago but are now not as good as they once were and some even borderline unplayable- are those games that were once good, now bad? And games that reviewed poorly are revisited 10-15 years and are now appreciated more than they ever were, are those games now good?
Comix Zone reviewed well when it was released but, have you played it lately? it's incredibly unforgiving with a lack of continues or lives- for some the challenge is welcome and that makes the game good, but others will think the game is unplayable and will think it's bad- who is right?
I think you can make an argument that nearly every game can be good or bad- it's all subjective based on the opinion of the player.
-
I got two more
Yu-Gi-Oh Duelist of the Roses- I love this game, but it also got slammed in reviews
Chulip- this game was great too- was surprised to see it had a 57 on metacritic
-
I remembered a couple more Secret Service for Xbox 360/ps2 I had lots of fun with this one. Also Rogue Warrior for Xbox 360 was supposed to be horrible but I liked it.

to be fair most people who play genesis games today seek that unforgiving gameplay and usually don't like how easy modern games have become so that's usually not an issue. genesis games are known to be harder on average than snes after all. even today i still see comix zone on plenty of top 10 or 20's not to mention comix zone has been in every sega genesis collection from ps2 onwards a bad game should not even be considered in such compilations since it's about the most popular and generally best games on the system. if way more casual players play genesis than naturally it's going to get bashed more but the audience that's left in general is more hardcore. The people that are going to hate it are usually not interested in playing old games in this day and age. aka same reason how god hand got allot more positive reviews.
Still with my first line of text I wasn't talking about god hand
I meant dark cloud and okage shadow king, dark cloud is considered a classic by many sure most prefer part 2 but i was kinda suprised how that was considered a bad game, and okage shadow king is usually mentioned as a hidden gem.
Chulip is just strange, if where talking general public the gameplay is questionable. the gameplay is about kissing everyone, you can't blame the average reviewer from bashing it. it's definitely an art that can only be appreciated by a minority. Hidden gem nowadays for some people who love playing older games and seek a whacky experience since the actual target audience are the people that are playing it today. a reviewer has to make notes how it would be considered by the masses and they are right back than and nowadays most people would not like chulip.
your right though every game can be considered bad, but in the more recent times, the players that would probably hate the game just avoid it allot more than back than, in this day and age the players usually know what they are looking for. and especially if where talking old games you have to go through certain hoops before you actually get to play it, wether it's by setting up emulation or getting an older console. more research and effort needs to be done if you where to for example play god hand ps2.
Low shot at a casual willing to try out god hand in this day and age by emulation or getting an og console. with that much effort it's usually going to be a hardcore player who exactly knows what he can expect.

Keep in mind sometimes when some people review a game that they get the game for cheap or free, they take playing it for granted. and they play it once or twice and make their final opinion. And then move onto the next review.
A lot of big time reviewers base a games quality, on their own first impression with it. Sometimes a reviewer does not even complete one game OR they complete it once and they will still write review about it.

allot of big time reviewers just go straight ahead with either buy it now prices on ebay, emulation or modern console collections. free lots or amazing deals are way to time consuming if you want to have a consistent line of content that's not going to work. In my experience you will usually not find what you actually want anytime soon you'll always get the stuff that you really wanted way later or in times when you have different interests.
For a collector/player usually not a big deal, for a content creator who needs those games to make a video that's a big problem. for individuals with smaller channels or beginners sure but if where talking succesfull creators, unless you already build a huge collection on the cheap years ago that just ain't the case. A succesfull content creator is not going to wait for cheap deals.

I'm gonna echo what other people are saying with TLOU2, loved that game so much. Played through it twice within the first month. I also really enjoyed Bart vs. the Space Mutants on NES. I don't know if it is considered a bad game per say, but I haven't really seen any praise for it. Editing this to add Pro Skater 5. Haven't played much of it, but I picked it up relatively cheap after loving THPS1+2 and it really isn't that bad. Controls are kind of wonky and it is definitely bad compared to other games in the series, but it is actually really enjoyable if you look at it as its own thing.
-
For some reason the only one I can think of is Bug on the Saturn. I used to play the hell out of this game at my friend's house growing up and thought it was super fun. I replayed it about a year ago and it's one of the worst 3D platformers I've ever played.
-
Pac man for 2600. I didn’t know it was bad until I was an adult and saw people hating on it online. I liked it as a little kid. There’s better versions for sure, but I still like it.
-

Similar thoughts on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It's very difficult, probably too difficult, but it's not bad. And the dam isn't that tough.
Agreed on both of these.
I enjoy Bubsy 1&2 on SNES, as well as Taz-Mania, Speedy Gonzalez and all those other Looney Tunes SNES games that are generally considered bad.
My favorite game everyone seems to hate is Castlevania 64. I don't care what anyone says, I think it does the best job of Castlevania in 3D.
-
I like the Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle Series which I think is considered mediocre not bad.
-
People seem to give Chameleon Twist 2 a lot of flack for being slippery to control and having uninspired level design, but it's fun, colorful and has a great soundtrack and mechanic I haven't seen done in any other platformers.
I don't know what the general consensus is, but I remember seeing Somecallmejohnny review Billy Hatcher and basically obliterate it, and I was just blown away. It's one of my favorite Gamecube games period. And speaking of Sega on Gamecube, Sonic Heroes was fine. Its only crime is not feeling like a Sonic game (and awful voice acting).
-
I enjoy Bubsy 1&2 on SNES, as well as Taz-Mania, Speedy Gonzalez and all those other Looney Tunes SNES games that are generally considered bad.
Im with you on the Looney Tunes games I really liked Road Runner: Death Valley Ralley and Duck Dodgers.
-
I thought Duke Nukem Forever was good, I think the problem is that it wasnt what people hoped and the game was too different from at least 2 of the demos shown.
I think Sonic Forces was fine, not too great but not bad either.
Contra Rogue Corps and Metal Gear Survive were good games.
Nightmare on Elm Street was indeed good, but it has some truly annoying game design choices.
Pretty much all Crash games from the 2000s, I certainly cant see why people thought Wrath of Cortex was bad, it is like a better game than Crash 3
And a lot of games more.
-
I think a game is only truly bad if #1 the game does not respond to the controls, or #2 it's got brutal difficulty on the easiest setting. And #3 all games that have difficult puzzles that can't figure out on my own OR. #4 that I need a cheat code or walkthrough in order to pass a certain section of a video game.
I actually love "The History Channel: Civil War – A Nation Divided"
even though people say the battles are not realistic or replicate REAL civil war weaponry or battles,. Overall this game for the PlayStation 2 has responsive controls and plays just fine. and it's a fun first person shooter based in the American Civil War.
I look past the weaponry not being spot on real, and I see past the fact that there is no assault rifles like in the world war 2 games like Call of Duty games
However I this game is too difficult to play on something other then easy difficulty, I highly recommend this game again on the forums
-
Mission Impossible on the N64. I always liked it as a kid even though I can never beat it. Years later I did and I enjoy myself. I even got the PS1 version and played through that too and had a great time. It also had a killer soundtrack in my opinion.
-

Im with you on the Looney Tunes games I really liked Road Runner: Death Valley Ralley and Duck Dodgers.
Death Valley Rally is one of those games that I tried really hard to like. The graphics, sound, and presentation really do a good job of making it seem like a classic Road Runner cartoon. I just couldn’t get past the wonky hit detection and the confusing level design (the game seems to want you to run fast Sonic-style, but will put a thornbush and other obstacles in your way to discourage that type of play...)
I don't know what the general consensus is, but I remember seeing Somecallmejohnny review Billy Hatcher and basically obliterate it, and I was just blown away. It's one of my favorite Gamecube games period.
I’ve never played it myself, but I worked in the game section of Toys R Us during the time of the GameCube, and I can personally attest that Billy Hatcher was one of the most sought-after games. We had a hard time keeping it in stock.
Another one we had trouble keeping in stock: Barbie Horse Adventures for GBA. That thing was flying off the shelf.
-

As far as Looney Tunes goes, as much as I like Taz, I can't say the same for his games. Daffy Duck: The Marvin Missions and Speedy Gonzales: Los Gatos Bandidos on the other hand I can say are quite decent.
I actually love "The History Channel: Civil War – A Nation Divided"
I have been curious about that game, as well as its sequel, and have been meaning to get them, but never follow through. To tell you the truth, I'm actually surprised that with all the PS2 lots I've gotten in the past I never once managed to get either of the two.
-

"History Channel: Civil War: Secret Missions"
I also have this sequel and but I don't think it's as good as the first. Plus it's rare and expensive. (as far as the PS2 version goes) the last time I looked on the internet.
never made it past the moving ship mission where you're on a timer. and you need to destroy buildings with a realistic cannon gun. off the shore while moving. The trouble I have, is the cannon acts like a grenade launcher. And requires you aim in the air, and calculate the time distance, and speed.to have any chance at success of this mission.
Other then that, the game is still a good responsive game. I just never made it past the moving battleship mission yet

I also liked A Nation Divided game except I played it on XBOX 360 but pretty sure the gameplay is the same I even 100% the game and achievements I liked it that much. And I also agree the second one wasn't as good.

"The (first game) "History Channel: Civil War – A Nation Divided"
The only real problem with this game in my opinion is really minor, and it's the fact that the mission select screen is confusing, at first glance Because once you successfully complete one mission. You need to press down on the d-pad, on the mission select screen. in order to play the next mission. press left or right on the d-pad and that is how you select both the campaigns
The game does not tell you, that, after each mission you complete, you unlock, the next one in that campaign mode, a new comer to this game might need to know that. Because the next mission is not automatically selected. For someone who is new to this game. They might need to know this, so they won't be playing the same mission over and over again.
and remember there is 2 campaigns in this game both are somewhat short, one campaign for the north side of the war and one campaign for the south side of the American civil war.
you need to manually save your game progress onto the memory card on the PS2 versions. and you can make your own checkpoints just like a PC game on PS2 as well. there is no automictic checkpoints, instead the game lets you save at will.
