It’s been awhile since I last posted about my collection. In the intermediate I’ve become a homeowner, with all the responsibility that comes with it. Needless to say my budget for game collecting has shrunk to reflect my change in priorities. Can’t say for certain how many games I’ll grab in a month. I’ll keep chipping away as often as I can.
Here’s what I’ve salvaged since my last post, mostly for Saturn.
Panzer Bandit (PSX)
Gunbird (Sega Saturn)
Layer Section (Sega Saturn)
Hyper Duel (Sega Saturn)

Couple of recent online purchases that I expect to arrive soon
Teardown (Series X) Amazon Purchase that I've been wanting to play for a while
FC 24 and Lets Go Pikachu (Switch) - Got them for a decent price so will just trade them in to get something I want
Bioshock Collectors Edition (360) - Couldn't help myself at the price. Slowly grabbing some collectors editions while I can.
A Couple of Xbox One Games - I don't know why but I'm slowly feeling more compelled to collect promotional copies of games when I see them. 2 were in this bundle and an additional game just covered the price of the lot.
-
Switch
- Castle Crashers Remastered
- Darksiders II
- Darksiders: Genesis
- Pikmin 4
- Star Wars Jedi Knight Collection
- Super Mario RPG

I got myself the most basic version of the Steam Deck. I've got a huge backlog of indie titles and older games, but I didn't really want to spend a ton my time sitting at my computer that I already work at all day to play them.

- Bionic Commando
- Black (OG Xbox, is backwards Compat)
- Burnout Crash
- Dark
- DeathSpank

Apparently the store will be having a 2nd final wave of titles on July 16th, so I may have to prep for that too!

Technically this was the 2nd wave, the 3rd wave is July 16th.
I picked up
Adrenalin Misfits
Harry Potter Kinect
The Evil Within
I have them all on disc, but this makes it easier
I also notices I passed 5K on the game counter here (Though I don't catalog my digital or cartridge games...yikes)

Evercade
- Duke Nukem Collection 1
Vinyl
- Alice Cooper- Billion Dollar Babies

I decided to check out an estate sale advertising electronics and left quite pleased. I left with the following, all for free:
- Talon Media Remote for Xbox One
- Xbox One Rechargeable Battery
- Xbox One Chatpad
- Xbox One 1708 Wireless Controller
- Xbox One X 1787
After setting up the console, I was pleased that it loaded and worked. It prompted me for a hardware update, so I began that process. However, once that was over, the console stopped being able to yield a signal, no matter the TV set or HDMI cord being used. From my understanding, this is a widespread problem going back several years. Shame on me for thinking an update would better the experience.
Edit: After attempting to start up the console in low resolution mode several times without any luck, I finally was able to, and the system seems to be working now. After looking around some more, I seem to now also own a few digital games. I'm unsure if they're tied to the previous owner's account or not, but I can launch them fine when logged into my own account. I'm not sure if removing the previous owner's account will remove the software. Nevertheless, these games are in my system's library:
- Air Missions: Hind
- Galaga Legions DX
- NASCAR Heat 2
- Prominence Poker
- Pure Chess
- Pure Hold'em
- Roblox
- Scrabble
- Uno
- Video Poker
- Wheel of Fortune

No a very effective Estate Sale if they are just giving stull like that away free, lol.
Sounds like the original user has that set as his/her home Xbox. As long as that's the case, anything they bought will be playable by anyone on the console. If that person changes their home Xbox, you will lose access (Not Prominence Poker or Roblox because they are free games anyway). I think removing the account would also remove it as the home Xbox.

To be fair, there were a lot of expensive electronics mostly related to music equipment and larger items like TVs, but the focus of the sale was on furniture. Numerous large boxes completely full of miscellaneous cords, chargers, and other small accessories that I imagine nobody wanted to sift through were in a corner of a room, and the Xbox console itself just happened to be at the bottom of one. A friend who was with me even found a brand new 4TB external hard drive also placed in a box marked free. Apart from furniture, only the high-end electronics were priced. Of all things, a simple body mirror was the only thing purchased between the two of us for $2. I genuinely wasn't expecting much prior to going, so I left feeling that the trip was well worth it.
I actually forgot to check the disc drive until just now. Obviously, a game disc would have been ideal, but that wasn't so. Instead, a Blu-Ray disc of Ted Nugent's 6,000th concert popped out, which was laughably unexpected.
Good to know. I don't think I'll have issue with anyone updating the profile to a new console, since the owner is dead and it's doubtful any of the family knows about it. I'm barred from accessing the original account even if I wanted to, so I may as well keep it present to access those games, should I ever choose to play them.

Well, that's pretty cool :) I'm sure they were glad to clear some space. I figured the owner was the deceased one, but wasn't sure.

It is the yearly e-waste pickup. While we did end up getting about a dozen PS1 systems and a boxed Wii, I won't be taking any of that.
My take includes some Lightspan related items including 1 game (Calamity 1), 2 different Lightspan carry bags and a game holder.
Various other things including some AV gear and some computers I haven't looked too closely at yet. Two are 1Us and one I believe is a NAS appliance. 2 pedestal servers that appear to be old DCs, a thin client NIB, who knows what else. And to think I still haven't finished testing the stuff I got last year and the year before that. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get some more old Thinkpads to add to my collection.

Megaton Musashi Wired, the game is really fun although quite repetitive in its design
And Sonic Supertars on Xbox (sale)
