Title: Diagnosing PS1 Dual Shock Controller
Post by: teknophyl on May 25, 2012, 07:47:30 am
Any suggestions on first things to check? Just crapped out on me. No analog light, no recognition by PS1, and upon opening it I dont see anything fried or burned on the board.

Check continuity in all the wires in the cable.

Unless its an awesome controller, PS1 general controllers are pretty cheap. Id just go pick up a new one. And, as far as I know, PS2 controllers work on the PS1.

Do they? I may have to test that out. I know you can't use a Dual Shock for PS1 on a PS2 though, which thoroughly pissed me off when we attempted to get some 4 player going on my brand new PS2 back in the day.

I think controllers, like the matching systems, should be backwards compatible.
