Title: PS3 controller won't charge.
Post by: castletonsnob on February 12, 2025, 06:49:41 am
I tried to play on my PS3, but my controller won't turn on, even though it's connected to the charger. What do I do?

I haven't had to deal with this yet but haven't used my remaining PS3 controller in about a decade. It's probably in a similar boat.

My guess is you'll have to find a service that is willing to replace the battery or find a way to buy the replacement and do it yourself.

Determining whether this is an issue with either the controller, the charging cable, or even the console's charging port is the first action needing to be taken.

If you already have an additional controller, try that out to see if the cable charges it. If that also isn't charging, clean the console's charging port in the event there's dust build-up. And if neither of those actions yield results, buying a new cable would be the last simple means to solve the problem.

I tried resetting the controller by poking a button in the back with a paper clip, but that didn't work.

This reminds me of a similar problem I had with one of my PS3 slim's:

Controller couldn't be connected cordless, but testing it with another console it worked, so I came to the conclusion that something had to be wrong with the consoles wifi connector or Something ... especially since the console also didn't connect to WiFi for internet...

Does that sound familiar to you?  ;D

Try resetting the controller. There's a tiny hole on the back, use a paperclip to press the reset button. Then, plug it in and see if it syncs. If that doesn't work, the battery may be dead.
