Title: What are some older IPs you would want to see brought back as a remake?
Post by: dvjsa1130 on May 02, 2025, 02:18:12 am
For me Xenogears is definite. After Final Fantasy 16, an M Rated Xenogears would be great with the all the dark and graphic content kept in tact, and with the same graphics as FF7 Remake Trilogy. And above all the story could be completed.

Then a Parasite Eve remake done in the style of Resident Evil 2-4's remakes.

Dino Crisis - Just do it like Resident Evil 2 Remake, I never got into the series originally, much like Resident Evil as I was not into tank controls back in the day, but survival horror with dinosaurs would be awesome.

Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie - If we can't get a new game, just do the Crash Bandicoot/Spyro treatment to Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie in a bundle, would make me so happy lol

I know there's one or two others I'd like, but I'm spacing on them at the moment.

I think about this often

The entire EA Big Line Of Games[ or 2000s era EA in general/color]

SSX Tricky, NFL Street 1 and 2 and all the damn icons of childhood.  NFS Underground 2 is dying for a faithful remaster. Maybe not a remake. But a clean remaster with no funny business.

Adventures of Batman And Robin or Spiderman Maximum Carnage

Neitjer character has gotten a 2D beat em up in a while and the Ninja Turtles have proven it can still be done.

1. Fallout 3 (classic)
2. Gran Turismo 4 (The icon of the franchise. Should just pretty it up a bit and add some new modern cars but with ps2 physics)
3. Tony Hawk American Wasteland (possible)
4. Crazy Taxi (why did they let that game concept die?)
5. Some sly cooper game for next gen

And above all

True crime streets of LA and NY. Remade. Honorably. Those games are so so so so madly underrated. The slow mo cop epicness was my childhood.

There are lots more, but those are the ones that come to the top of my head.

Dino Crisis is the only one left.

A new spiritual successor to it is nearing launch... Code Violet. The dev recently released a promising gameplay trailer.

Shenmue: I know we got Shenmue III in 2019, but the only way this franchise will ever have any future is if it gets remade. This might sound lack blasphemy to some, but I'd be willing to give it a chance if it means getting some conclusion to this franchise.

Zone of the Enders: I think with modern tech, this game could potentially be twice as awesome as it was in 2001. I imagine Konami working with Platinum Games like they did with Metal Gear Rising and making something special here.

Seeing Dino Crisis featured on the 2024 Capcom Super Elections multiple times, I also hope we see the series receive a remake:

I posted about this survey last year (https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,1942.msg204697.html#msg204697) but don't know if anyone here also voted. I hadn't yet seen the results, so this is somewhat interesting to see.

Well, if anyone was thinking a third Ecco the Dolphin game your wish has been granted.

There are some very old games that aren't particularly accessible these days. System Shock was already done, Daggerfall is more like being put on a modern engine that doesn't really fix much of the gameplay jank. I liked Prince of Persia Classic (https://vgcollect.com/item/112520) and would love to see the older Shantae games being done in the visual style of 1/2 Genie Hero.

But mostly I'm a purist. The overwhelming majority of remakes and remasters don't interest me because the original version is just as good if not superior to the facelift version.
