Title: Worlds of Power NES game adaptation books
Post by: bsmith on April 02, 2011, 02:18:08 pm
Anyone else remember seeing these at the school book fair in the early '90s? Now I'm kicking myself for not buying any! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worlds_of_Power

Behold, the world of power of ebay!

Ha. I've never seen any of these. Or I know I would have bought most, if not all, of them.

Those are totally radd!!  I could have sworn I had one of them, so I went on a hunt through old boxes of books and whatnot.  Came across this instead:

It's like a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book!

@monochrome I had one of those... I can't remember which one though... But I did rent them out of the library pretty regularly too.

I do remember owning a really killer Mario comic though! More like a book, as it had a glossy cover and was perfect bound. Full color pages IIRC. The story was about Koopa and crew busting out of a kid's Game Boy at the mall and wreaking havoc. Had to have been circa '92?

My friend actually has the Worlds of Power Metal Gear book, which he found at a used book store for 3$ (he told me it kind of sucked though)... I need to ask him if he still wants it so I can have it :P
Otherwise I don't think I've ever owned or even read any video game books/comics like that... I was happy with just playing the games.

Awesome! While rooting in my dad's attic the other day, I found the Metal Gear one. Had completely forgotten about these!

You can get a brief history and then hear James Rolfe, the angry video game nerd, read the Mega Man 2 novel. I don't know why one would want to do this. But here it is:

I have the Simon's Quest one. I only skimmed the 1st couple pages of it, but it seemed pretty cheesy. It's super short though, I feel like I should read it just for the lols.

I got mine on Amazon for like 4 bucks. I was an old library copy tho, so the cover was wrapped in a film of some kind. But it is in otherwise great shape.
